Valve for low pressure liquefied gas cylinders The present invention relates to a valve for low pressure liquefied gas cylinder, for example for butane gas, such as that used for supplying certain heating devices intended to operate. without prior expansion of the gas, such as, for example, the portable stove covered by Swiss patent No. 321801.
The valve in accordance with the present invention is characterized in that it comprises a shutter member with a rotary needle provided, at its outer end, with an injector supplied with gas from the inside of said shutter member when the latter is open, this arrangement allowing the formation of the air-gas mixture immediately at the outlet of the valve and its direct routing to the burner of the appliance.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of this embodiment.
Figs. 2 and 3 are respectively a cross-sectional view through 11-11 and through 111-1I1 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view corresponding to FIG. 3, but with the shutter member open. Fig. 5 is a detail view on a smaller scale, showing the valve of the preceding figures adapted to the tank of a stove of the type described in the aforementioned patent.
In the drawing, the valve body is designated by 1. This body is formed of two branches 2-2a oriented 90.1 with respect to each other. The branch 2 is pierced with a duct 3 and ends with a thread 2b allowing its attachment to a reservoir such as R shown partially in FIGS. 3 and 4. The conduit 3 is extended by a passage 3a opening into a recess 4 formed in the branch 2a.
In this recess is housed a needle 5 provided with a frustoconical end 6 of low taper, followed by a second frustoconical part 6a of greater taper, these frustoconical parts cooperating with the passage 3a during opening and closing. tap, as will be explained later.
The needle 5 is provided, at its periphery, with a seal 7 and it is pierced, along its longitudinal axis, with a duct 8 having, at one end, an inclined passage 8a which opens into the recess. 4, while at its outer end is fixed a removable injector 9.
The said needle is controlled by means of a knurled knob 10 screwed onto a thread 2c made on the branch 2a of the body 1 and locked by means of a nut 11. This nut is covered with a seal 12 on which can come to tighten a cap 13 screwed on a thread 5a made at the end of the needle 5 (fig. 3).
Finally, the body 1 comprises a boss 1a (FIGS. 1 and 2) pierced with a threaded orifice into which is screwed a plug 14, the head 15 of which can be lined with a sheath, for example made of plastic.
The valve thus formed can be mounted on a receptacle of any type, containing a liquefied gas at low pressure. As an indication, fig. 5 shows this valve screwed into a socket 16 integral with the bottle R of the portable stove described in the patent to which reference was made above. In this figure, we see the injector 9 stripped of its protective cap 13, opening into the end of a suitably shaped tube 17 connected to the burner of the stove. In this particular case, the body 1 comprises a boss 18 which engages in a recess provided for this purpose in the support 19 of the bottle R.
In this way, the injector 9 is automatically centered with respect to the axis of the pipe 17.
In the position shown in fig. 3, the knurled knob 10 is fully screwed onto the thread 2c and the frustoconical tip 6 of the needle 5 is engaged in the channel 3a which it closes. On the other hand, the cap 13, screwed onto the thread 5a, protects the injector 9.
In fig. 4, the knurled knob 10 is unscrewed, the frustoconical tip 6 of the needle is completely withdrawn from passage 3a and the gas contained in the cylinder R can, as indicated by the arrows F, reach the injector 9 (whose cap 13 has been removed), through conduit 3, passage 3a, recess 4, pitch 8a and conduit 8 of the needle.
It should be noted that the opening stroke of the needle 5 is limited by a stop against the end of the threaded plug 14.
Immediately upon exiting the needle, the air-gas mixture is correctly formed and channeled directly to the burner through pipe 17. The end 6 of the needle having a low taper, it is possible to obtain a very precise adjustment of the valve. gas flow when unscrewing the knurled knob 10.
When the bottle R is empty, to effec kill its filling, the needle 5 being or green, the stopper 14 is removed and the nozzle of a liquefied gas supply source is connected in its place. As soon as the filling is finished, the needle 5 is closed again, the aforementioned adjustment is removed and the stopper 14 is replaced.
It should be noted that for the handling and storage of the bottles fitted with the valve described above, the cap 13 is placed on the end 5a of the needle, so as to protect the injector 9. During 1a. When the bottle is put into service, this cap 13 can be fixed on the head 15 of the cap 14.
