Cistern The invention relates to a cistern, for example for a water closet, charac terized in that it comprises a receptacle having an opening at its base, an opening capable of being closed by a ball during the filling, a hollow body, fixed in a sealed manner in said opening of the base of the container, having a seat for said ball and carrying a lever and pusher control allowing to act under the ball near its surface d 'support on said seat, so that this ball can be lifted, in order to evacuate the water,
a device allowing air to be admitted into the container and a water inlet device having drilled elements whose relative position is adjustable, in order to allow the water inlet flow rate to be adjusted. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the cistern which is the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is an overall sectional view of the first embodiment.
Figs. 2, 3 and 4 represent by an axial section, the water flow members along the line 2-2 of FIG. 1, special provisions of these components, as well as the various phases of the control of the flushing and the operation of the provisions for the air intake. Figs. 5 and 6 illustrate, in a schematic sectional view, a drawback of the usual and known positive device intended for the admission of water into the reservoir. Figs. 7 and 8 illustrate comparatively, by a similar schematic sectional view, the advantageous result obtained by means of the adjustable water inlet device which equips the tank according to the invention.
Figs. 9 and 10 show a second embodiment of the reservoir, in two phases of its operation.
The tank 1 is cylindrical in shape and can be made up of several parts assembled in a very tight manner, by welding for example. Its upper part forms a domed cap. The bottom of the container 1 is conical in shape, and its slope is directed towards an axial opening whose edge 11 is re-curved and engaged in a circular bearing surface of a ring 2 which is fixed by screws 3 in a bowl 41 formed in the upper part 42 of a body 4 (Fig. 1).
A gasket washer 5 is interposed between the curved edge 11 of the container and the bottom of the bowl 41. The gasket washer is blocked by tightening the ring 2 by means of the screws 3. This tightening causes expansion or crushing of the seal washer which is housed between the members which enclose it, thus ensuring the tightness of the assembly between the base of the container 1 and the body 4. The body 4 has, in the axis of the container 1, a conical bearing surface 43 on which a shutter ball 6 rests.
In the axis of the bearing 43 is located an axial opening 44 and a flow hole 45 (fig. 2) of larger diameter in which is engaged and tightened with a seal 32 and a nut 33 (fig. 2) , a water evacuation pipe 7. The body 4 also has a 4th rib (fig. 2) in which a hole 47 is drilled which opens into the flow hole 45. The hole 47 is extended by a hole 4 $ of larger diameter, partially threaded and sealed. externally by a screw 8. The unthreaded part of the hole 43 communicates through a small hole 49 with the bottom of the bowl 41.
Laterally, the body 4 also has a boss 4111 which is bored and threaded so that a threaded bearing surface of a sleeve 9 can be screwed thereon. In this sleeve is capable of rotating, by means of a tubular gasket 10. , a rod 11 of a lever of my work, the end of which is made integral by means of a square adjustment, for example, of a profiled pusher 12. The tubular liner 10 is made integral by welding, or by another way, the rod 11.
The sleeve 9 is screwed at a slight inclination into the boss 411), the lower part of the slope being located towards the center of the body 4, so that the drops of water which, when the contents of the tank are flushed, could infiltrate along the tubular lining 10, are brought back by the slope inside the body 4.
In addition, the tubular liner 10 is shorter than the sleeve 9, so that it is formed at the outer end of said sleeve, a chamber in which can be stopped the drops of water infiltrated as a result of the violent effect of hunting.
To complete these arrangements, a plug 13 is screwed onto the outer end of the sleeve. This stopper has a bearing surface in its central part, so as to clamp by its peripheral part only and against the end of the sleeve 9, a rubber washer 14, the axial opening of which has a dimension slightly smaller than the diameter of the sleeve. rod 11. The washer 14 is therefore forced onto the rod 11, so as to form a seal. In this way, no drop of water can filter out.
The pusher 12 is profiled as shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 4. The bore of the boss 4111 allows it to be inserted inside the body 4 where said pous evening can be freely pivoted in the axial opening 44 and the drain hole 45, on the gasket 10 and with the rod 11 as the control and pivoting axis.
This execution of the hunting control device is remarkable in that the pusher 12 makes contact with the ball 6 not in the axis of the seat 43, but in a very eccentric manner with respect to this axis, close to resting the ball on the seat (fig. 2).
When the rod of the control lever 11 is actuated, the effect of the pusher is exerted with a lever arm d (fig. 3) at a point which is close to the seat 43. Despite the strong pressure which applies the ball on its seat, it is easy to take off at one point the ball which pivots in a way following arrow F (fig. 3), by resting on the diametrically opposite part of the seat 4 ';. The pressure of the water which is introduced between the ball and the seat then finishes completely lifting the ball from its seat, effortlessly (fig. 4).
We notice, in this arrangement, the particularly rational mode of action on the ball to take it off its seat, unlike many known devices following which the force is exerted axially under the ball, which implies a great force of thrust, then a sudden and pleasant detachment. This results in some inconvenience of use and damage to organs, in particular the obturator ball.
In this hunting device, the obtuse ball, after having been lifted from its seat, remains close to the flow opening and it must be kept raised using the pusher 12, by acting on the control lever. mande 11, during the entire hunt. The speed and the violence of the hunt depend however on the size of the passage created between the ball and its seat. To keep the ball more or less raised, a screw 15 is screwed into the thickness of the pusher 12, at a location such that this screw forms an adjustable stop relative to the circular edge of the bearing surface existing between the opening axial 44 and the drain hole 45.
Depending on the water pressure of the supply network, it is therefore possible to adjust the amplitude of the pivoting of the pusher 12, and consequently the extent of the displacement of the ball 6 above its seat.
If a small quantity of water enters the hole 47, the jet will be broken in the small chamber formed by the hole 48 (arrows fig. 3). The flush produces a suction which sucks the water introduced into the holes 47 and 4s, then which sucks air inside the body 4 (arrows fig. 4) through the hole 49 which connects the chamber 411 to the bottom of the bowl 41, and also by the clearance remaining between said bowl and the ring 2. This air intake prevents jerks and shocks of the ball on its seat at the end of the hunt, as well as water hammer in the pipes.
At the base of the container 1 is placed a device for adjusting the water inlet flow (fig. 1). This device comprises a tip 16 fixed in a known manner, by welding or otherwise, to the base of the container. In the end piece 16 is fixed by any known means (welding or other) and removably or not, a cylindrical part 17 drilled symmetrically with respect to its axis, with two holes 171 of reduced diameter. The part 17 has, over part of its length, a threaded bore into which is screwed a screw 18 drilled axially. By screwing the screw 18 to bring it closer to the bottom of the bore of the part 17, the water flow through the holes 171 inside the tank is reduced.
In an extreme position, when the screw 18 reaches the bottom of the bore of the part 17, water can no longer enter the reservoir. Conversely, by unscrewing the screw 18, the flow of water through the holes 171 is increased.
A water inlet pipe (shown in broken lines) is connected to end 16.
The advantage of this device is illustrated by the diagrams of FIGS. 5, 6, 7 and 8. In the known device of FIGS. 5 and 6, the water is supplied by a normal nozzle 19 with a large opening and a high flow rate.
After a certain period of operation, part of the air contained in the tank is eliminated by the successive flushes, so that there comes a moment when, before the end of the evacuation, there is no longer a pressure of the air mattress on the water, but a depression (fig. 6), so that the water penetrates with force into the tank through the end 19 (arrow) before the end of the evacuation of the tank which retains a quantity of non-drained water.
As the flushes followed by water filling, the quantity of non-evacuated water increases and it is necessary to purge the tank by stopping the water intake and keeping the ball raised, which allows to drain completely pressurized water, with a compensating air intake in the tank when the water is completely evacuated.
With the intake device described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4, this purge can be done without it being necessary to stop the water supply. Indeed, the water inlet flow being more reduced and adjusted according to the water pressure, there is less water not evacuated during each flush, without however there being evacuation. full tank at each flush.
When a certain quantity of water has accumulated without pressure in the tank (fig. 7), the user seeing that there is only a small quantity of water expelled under pressure (the quantity of water expelled before the intake begins again), will certainly, if not mechanically, press a second time on the control lever 11. At this time, a vacuum is produced in the receptacle, with a tendency to suck outside air into it. the recipient.
The ball is driven at the level of the water by an upward effect (indicated in dashed lines, fig. 7), and the evacuation of the water without pressure takes place automatically with compensating air admission through the openings 45 and 44 (fig. 8). The water inlet flow rate, adjusted appropriately using the device, does not hinder this draining of the tank. At the end of the evacuation, the ball returns to its place on the 4s seat.
In the second embodiment (FIGS. 9 and 10), the container 20 has an internal partition 201 forming an upper compartment of smaller dimensions than those of the lower compartment. An axial orifice 20 ', formed in the partition 201, puts the two compartments into communication. The flush control members, at the base of the container, are of the same construction as that described above, except as regards the device for admitting air into the body 4. The pusher 12 does not include either stop screw such as 15 to limit the amplitude of its pivoting. On the other hand, an elbow pipe 21 is fixed in the body 4.
This pipe opens into the flow hole 45. A tube 22, the end of which is engaged in the elbow pipe 21, puts the inside of the body 4 into communication with an automatic closing device mounted on the upper part of the receptacle. .
The tube 22 passes through the bottom of the container and the partition 201, to terminate in a discharge elbow 231 of a cylinder 23 fixed to the top of the container by welding or otherwise. A cylindrical sheath 24 is fixed to the lower part of the cylinder 23. This sheath is closed at the top by a cover 25 housed in the cylinder 23. The cover 25 rests on a lower surface of said cylinder via a seal.
A ring 26, radially pierced with holes 261, is mounted between the cover 25 and a second cover 27, and centered in recesses of said members 25 and 27. The second cover 27 is pierced with viewing holes 271.
A stopper 28 is screwed to the upper part of cylinder 23, with the interposition of a seal, so as to seal said cylinder in a sealed manner.
Inside the cylindrical sheath. 24 is placed a rubber ball 29 which has the role of closing off an axial opening 251 of the cover 25. A boss formed around the opening 251 forms a seat for the ball 29. The sheath 24 has longitudinal slots 241. The end of the sheath 24 is located close to the partition 201, and it is closed by a solid washer 30 pressed against an internal circular discharge 24 '= of the metal of the sheath. An elastic ring 31 housed in a second circular discharge 243 outside the sheath, retains the washer 30.
According to these arrangements, the water which is introduced into the container by the supply device similar to the device 16, 17, 18 of FIG. 1 (not shown in Figs. 9 and 10) fills the lower compartment by re-pressing the air, then the upper compartment through the orifice 20 '. The washer 30 prevents the jet of the feed water from acting directly against the ball 29. As the upper compartment is filled, the ball 29 rises in the sheath 24 and air is discharged. through tube 22, until the ball closes, under the pressure of the water, the axial opening 251.
In the event that a little water escapes through hole 251, there would be no external leak since this water would flow through tube 22 to body 4.
When the flush is commanded, the ball 6 rises up to the partition 201 by the effect of a turbulence of the water which is forced to pass into the orifice 202. The expulsion of the water n 'is in no way braked since the ball 29 frees the opening 251, and there is thus a compensating air intake at the upper part of the reservoir.
With these arrangements, a large volume of flushing is obtained.
The flushing tank thus described in various embodiments, can ensure a satisfactory and regular operation.
