Flushing device, in particular for water closets The flushing device described in the main patent, has provisions which have been designed in order to obtain satisfactory operation of the device, eliminating the inconveniences which result from the hy dropneumatic design of the hunt. Practitioners who have carefully examined the operation of these types of hunting, in fact know that the theoretical simplicity of their construction does not mean a careful development of the constructive details in which lies the value of a device likely to '' ensure a long service, in relation to theoretical constructions or which are still at the prototype stage.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an overall view in axial section of the device.
Fig. 2 is a plan view, corresponding to FIG. 1, water flow and flush control devices.
Figs. 3, 4 and 5 show, on a larger scale, the mounting detail of the control and flow members, and the arrangements for the air intake, the different phases of the flow control. water by the detachment of the ball, as well as the effect of the air intake arrangements. Fig. 6 shows, in a sectional view of the organs concerned, an embodiment of the assembly of the control lever to prevent any filtration of water to the outside along the rod of the lever.
Fig. 7 is a sectional view taken along line 7-7 of FIG. 6.
Fig. 8 shows, in axial section, an adjustable water inlet device which is fixed to the base of the lower tank.
Fig. 9 is a sectional view taken along line 9-9 of FIG. 8.
Figs. 10, 11 and 12 illustrate, in several phases, the flow of water during the flushing operation.
In this device, there is a distinction (see fig. 1) a lower tank 1 for accumulating water for the flush, and an upper tank 2, of smaller volume and intended for balancing the inlet pressure of water by compressed air in said upper tank 2.
An adjustable device connects the two reservoirs, and comprises a tube 3 threaded over a certain length at its lower part, screwed into a sleeve 4 fixed to a partition 5 which separates the two reservoirs. The tube 3 has a hole 31 drilled radially at a certain height to put the two reservoirs in communication. A longitudinal groove 32 is formed in the threaded part of the tube 3, and it is designed to also establish communication between the two reservoirs.
The groove 32 extends approximately to the level of the hole 31. This groove could be replaced by a flat formed on the tube 3. The purpose of the groove 32 is to prevent air being trapped inside. the upper part of the lower tank 1, under the partition 5.
In fact, if the tank 1 is not entirely purged of air, the flushing device does not work automatically, that is to say that the shutter ball, cited below, cannot be '' rise in the lower tank under the effect of water turbulence. In this case, the ball remains in its seat, and it must be kept raised using the operating lever throughout the hunting period.
The groove 32 makes it very easy for the air to pass from the reservoir 1 to the reservoir 2, when the latter fills with water.
The hole 31 and the groove 322 are complementary. They are judiciously calibrated with a view to the flow rate to be obtained between the upper tank and the lower tank, because if this flow rate is too high, the flushing device does not operate automatically, whereas if the flow rate is too low, the flush is low too.
In the upper reservoir, the tube 3 is surrounded by a tubular sheath 6 engaged at the lower part on the sleeve 4, and fixed by its conical upper part in an opening closed by a plug 7 at the top of the upper reservoir. The sheath 6 has openings for the passage of water.
The upper end of the tube 3 carries a head having a groove for adjusting the height position of the hole 31, by screwing or unscrewing said tube. The sheath 6 guides the tool which is introduced for this purpose through the opening of the upper reservoir.
The watertight adaptation and fixing, at the base of the lower tank, of the water flow and flush control members, takes place by blocking with respect to a collar 81 of a body 8, using screws 9, a ring 10 which is mounted with play in a cup 82 formed by the recess of the rette adhesive 81. The ring 10 has a circular bearing surface in which the curved edge 11 is clamped. an axial opening formed at the bottom of the lower reservoir 1. A seal washer 11 is interposed between the edge 11 and the bottom of the bowl 8 =.
The body 8 has, axially, a conical seat 83 for a double rubber shutter 12, as well as a flow hole 81 (FIG. 3). A water discharge pipe 13 is connected to the body 8 in the known manner.
In a rib 83 that the body 8 has, is drilled radially a hole 86 of small diameter, which opens, on the one hand, into the axial flow hole 81 and, on the other hand, into a hole 8 7 more large diameter (fig. 3). The hole 87- is partially threaded to receive a plug screw 14. The part of the hole 8 7 which is not occupied by the screw 14, constitutes a chamber connected by a small hole 8k at the bottom of the the cup 82. The hole 83 opens into the cup 8 = next to the seal washer 11, opposite the ring 10 which has play relative to the body 8.
A control lever 15 is mounted to pi votement in a sleeve 16 screwed into the slightly inclined threaded bore of a boss 8 \ 'of the body. On the end of the lever 15 is fixed by any known means, such as a drive square, a push lever 17. This latter can be introduced inside the sleeve through the threaded hole of the boss 8 '' in which is screwed the sleeve 16. The pusher 17 can pivot in the hole 81 with the end of the lever 15 which serves as its axis, so as to be able to be brought to the level of the conical seat 83 to lift the ball 12 when you want to produce the hunting effect.
The particularity and efficiency of the detachment mode of the ball 12 should be emphasized. When the water has accumulated in the tank 1 and partially in the tank 2 by strongly compressing the air in the latter tank, the ball 12 is applied with force to the conical seat 83. With the lever 15 it is possible exert a high force on the pusher 17. The latter has a rounded profiled shape without any roughness, and it is of a maximum length compatible with its introduction into the body 8, while allowing it to pivot inside said body. (fig. 3, 4 and 5).
In this way, the pusher 17 makes contact with the ball 12 not in the axis of the seat 83, but in an eccentric manner with respect to this axis, as close as possible to the contact surface of the ball 12 on seat 83 (fig. 3). Consequently, the length m of the arm of the lever formed by the pusher 17 (FIG. 4) facilitates the initiation of the detachment of the ball at a point which is close to the point of contact with the pusher. The ball 12 performs a tilting (arrow F, FIG. 4) with a lever arm included between the detachment point located at the place of contact with the pusher 17, and the diametrically opposite fulcrum on the seat 83.
The localized detachment of the ball 12 produces a decompression of the water and air contained in the upper reservoir. The pressure which is exerted from top to bottom on the ball 12 decreases at the same time as the thrust force exerted on the control lever 15. The ball rises by an upward effect resulting from the swirling of the water. moving. The hunt takes place. This method of detaching the ball which results from the arrangement described is particularly rational, and it is obvious that many known arrangements which include a thrust device in the axis, require significant efforts to obtain detachment.
These efforts make the use of these devices inconvenient and promote the deterioration of the material, in particular the rubber ball. Parallel to the phases of the detachment of the ball for the control of the flush, when the water is projected into the drain hole 84, there is also a projection of water in the small hole 8. This small projection of water is stopped and broken in the chamber formed by the hole 87 (fig. 4), which prevents this water from being able to infiltrate outside through the clearance existing between the bowl 82 and the ring 10. giving the unpleasant impression of a leak.
The water projected in the chamber 8 7 then returns to the normal flow hole 84 by the effect of suction and suction of the water expelled from the device. This effect then causes a suction of air from the outside to the inside of the device, through the holes 88, 87 and 86, preventing the ball 12 from rebounding and being applied jerkily, with shocks, on seat 83, at the end of the water evacuation. The effect of depression under the ball which can be the cause of its jerky movement is in fact avoided.
At the time of discharge, water is also sprayed into the bore of the boss 89 of the body. To prevent this water from beading on the outside of the sleeve 16 by following the rod of the lever 15, said sleeve has an internal bearing surface 161 formed by a tubular friction lining (FIGS. 6 and 7), and it is threaded to the outer end. The sleeve 16 may have flats on the outside (not shown in the drawing) to facilitate screwing into the boss 89. On this end is screwed a plug 18 which internally has a clearance surface 181, so that the plug does not pinch. that on the periphery, against the end of the sleeve 16, a washer 19 of flexible material, such as rubber.
This washer is drilled to a diameter slightly smaller than that of the rod 15, and it is engaged by forcing it on said rod. The washer 19 constitutes an obstacle to any water infiltration.
As an alternative embodiment, the water inlet device (fig. 8) at the base of the lower tank is arranged so as to allow the said tank to be purged in a practically automatic manner to replace the air. which is inevitably eliminated from the device, during the operations of the hunting, so as to maintain a constant power and volume of hunting.
In a nozzle 20, welded to the base of the lower tank, is fixed in a removable or non-removable manner, by welding or other known means, a part 21 pierced with two inlet holes 211 of reduced diameter.
The holes 211 open, on the one hand, into the lower reservoir and, on the other hand, into a threaded bore of the part 21. A screw 22 is screwed into this bore of the part 21, and it is axially drilled at 221. for the passage of water.
Therefore, it is understood that by screwing the screw 22 more or less, it is possible to limit the flow of water admission into the device, this admission being stopped if the screw 22 is blocked in the bottom of the bore. threaded part 21.
The diagrams in fig. 10, 11 and 12 explain the interest of this provision.
In the diagrams of fig. 10 and 11, a hunting device is considered after a period of operation. The water intake takes place at a high flow rate through a normal nozzle 23 of large diameter. In fig. 10, the water is being expelled and is pushed by the compressed air ma telas located at the upper part of the upper tank. However, the air is gradually decompressed, and before the water discharge is complete, the air pressure is insufficient to expel the water. A vacuum may even build up, so that the water admitted through the nozzle 23 tends to fill the device again before the end of the evacuation (fig. 11). The ball falls back into its seat when the device fills.
Gradually, with each flushing maneuver, the quantity of water not evacuated increases because the pressure of the compressed air can decrease. The yield from hunting decreases. To purge the device, it is necessary to stop the water intake and to keep the ball detached from its seat using the operating lever. The water then flows completely with a compensating air intake through pipe 13 and discharge hole 81.
On the contrary, by means of the members 21 and 22 allowing the adjustment of the water supply flow rate, it is possible to establish a water intake flow rate in the device which is lower than the discharge flow rate of the water supply. water remaining in the device. In this way, the device is completely and automatically purged of water on each flushing maneuver.
We can see the interest of these construction features of the flushing device.
