An expandable device in particular for an expandable vehicle The present invention relates to a dis. positive extensible, in particular for expandable vehicles such as those whose bodywork, for example, comprises one or more movable parts, generally transversely with respect to a fixed part, with the aim of allowing the more or less considerable enlargement of the space created by this bodywork.
It is already known to use, for the deployment of the movable part or parts of an expandable vehicle, a type of device which comprises a fixed element in the form of an elongated box, an elongated movable element which slides. in the box forming with it a telescopic assembly and a means for connecting this movable element to a drive shaft which pivots on said fixed element in a direction perpendicular to the direction of displacement of the movable element.
In known devices of this type, the means connecting the movable element to the shaft consists of a gear reducer.
Such a reducer is fairly bulky and the entire device therefore has fairly large dimensions in height, such that this device being interposed between the side members of the vehicle and of the body of this vehicle, this body is located increased by an amount which, in certain circumstances, may be prohibitive. In addition, the gear reducer is relatively expensive in cost.
The object of the invention is an expandable device of the aforementioned type, the object of which is to avoid the above drawbacks.
The device; object of the invention, is characterized in that the means for connecting the movable element to the drive shaft is an endless link, for example a cable fixed by a point to the movable element, passing over return pulleys carried by the fixed element and winding in a helical groove of a pulley keyed on the drive shaft, pou binds to which said link is itself fixed by another point.
Four return pulleys may be provided on the fixed element; arranged one in the vicinity of the end through which the movable element exits, another towards the other end at a point located beyond the limit point reached by the point of attachment of the link to the element mobile and two others arranged on either side of the transverse plane passing through the axis of the control shaft and perpendicular to the direction of displacement of the mobile element.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention and its application to an expandable trailer. Fig. 1 is a perspective view thereof, partially cut away.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view, partially cut away, and on a larger scale, of one of the halves of the device.
Fig. 3 is a cross section taken on line 3-3 of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is a vertical cross sectional view, in the folded position, of a trailer comprising the device shown in FIGS. 1 to 3.
Fig. 5 is a longitudinal vertical section.
Fig. 6 is a horizontal sectional view corresponding to FIG. 5, but after deployment of the only right mobile part shown.
Fig. 7 is a vertical transverse cross section, similar to the cross section of FIG. 4, but after deployment of the two side parts.
The device shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 is double; it is intended to make it possible to move longitudinally, respectively in the direction of arrows f1 and f2 (fig. 1), from a shaft 1 perpendicular to the directions of deployment, two longitudinal elements 2a and 2b, movable in fixed elements or twin boxes <I> A </I> and <I> B </I> which constitute the body of the positive device and with which the elements 2a, 2b form telescopic assemblies.
Each mobile element 2a or 2b has the shape of an inverted <I> U </I> and the box <I> A </I> or <I> B </I> is formed by the combination of a U inverted upper 3 and two U 4 and 5, arranged in reverse direction, with a width clearly less than half the width of I '<B> U </B> 3, so that these U 4 and 5 being welded or otherwise fixed, at 6 and 7, to the wings of <B> the U </B> 3 by their own external wings, the other two wings of these U 4 and 5 form between them a central passage 8.
The elements 2a and 2b are arranged in the boxes <I> A </I> and <I> B, </I> so that the two wings of each of them are located, each, between the two wings of the matching 4 or 5 iron. Each element 2a, 2b is hand held in height and guided laterally so that its core is located just below, at a short distance from the core of the iron 3, by means of a set of two rollers 9 , my crazy tees on an axis 10.
carried by the box, in the immediate vicinity of the end of the box by which the element 2a or 2b in question exits, that is to say at the right end (fig. 1, 2), for the element 2a and at the left end for element 2b.
The guiding of each element 2a, 2b is completed, at the end which moves inside the corresponding box 'A or <I> B </I>, by a roller 11 whose axis 12 is carried by fittings 13, fixed to the wings of the element 2a or 2b considered, outside this element, these wings being suitably notched at 14 (see Figs. 1 and 2). The roller 11 is intended to roll on the internal face of the core of the upper iron 3 of the corresponding <I> A </I> or <I> B </I> box.
The longitudinal movements of the movable element are ensured, in the direction of arrow f1 or in the opposite direction for element 2a, in the direction of arrow f2 or in reverse for element 2b, from l The shaft 1 which rotates in the brackets 15, fixed to the irons 4 and 5 of the boxes.
The connection between the shaft 1 and each mobile element 2a or 2b is ensured by means of an endless link 16, preferably consisting of a section of cable, the two ends of which 17 and 18 (Fig. 2). ) are engaged in holes made in a pulley 19, keyed at 20 on the shaft 1, stop screws 21 (fig. 2) ensuring the anchoring of the two ends of the cable.
Pulley 19 has a helical groove in which the cable winds in the form of several contiguous turns (see FIG. 3).
For element 2a, the cable then passes over a first grooved return roller. 22, mounted idle on a pin 23 carried by the irons 4 and 5, in the interval U between these irons, then on a second grooved return pulley 24, idle on a shaft 25 mounted in a similar manner; the cable is then anchored to the section 2a by a fitting 26 and a screw 27.
It then passes over another return pulley, still grooved 28, mounted loose on the axis 10 which already carries the two guide rollers 9, returns to the middle of the box, finally passes over a last return pulley 29 grooved, idle on an axis 30 and symmetrical with the return pulley 22 with respect to the transverse plane of trace 3-3 in FIG. 2, plane passing through the longitudinal axis of the shaft 1 and perpendicular to the direction of movement of the movable elements 2a and 2b.
As can be understood, when the shaft 1 is rotated in the direction of arrow f3 (fig. 1 and 2), the cable 16 is wound up on the pulley 19 by the strand which comes from the pulley 29 and takes place via the strand which goes towards the pulley 22. This results in traction on the element 2a in the direction of arrow f 1 and the deployment of this element. The telescopic assembly (A-2a) extends along.
The assembly of the cable 16 relating to the element 2b is identical, except that the strands coming from the return pulley 24 and 28 are crossed; they pass, in fact, respectively over pulleys 29 and 22, such that the direction of rotation in the direction of arrow f3 of the shaft 1 causes the element 2b to move in the direction of arrow f2.
Of course, to return the two elements 2a and 2b in their respective boxes A and B, it suffices to turn the shaft 1 in the opposite direction.
This shaft can be operated by hand or by any suitable motor. As can be seen, in particular in fig. 1, the double box has a very low height h (fig. 1).
Of course, the double device described or the simple device if it involves moving a single moving part, is capable of numerous applications.
By way of example, there is shown in FIGS. 4 to 7 an application of such double devices in the case of a trailer for a motor vehicle.
The trailer comprises a single carrying axle 30, with two wheels 31. On this axle 30 rests, by means of two leaf springs 32, the actual floor 33 of the trailer. The floor 33 is very low and passages are made in the floor to the right of the wheels 31; these passages are covered by cowls 34 which protrude inside the passenger compartment.
This cabin, which is expandable, is formed of a fixed central part and two movable side parts.
The central part comprises walls which are rigidly integral with the floor 33 and consist of a front wall 35, a longitudinal wall forming a roof 36, a rear wall 37, the walls 35 and 37 being, preferably, progressively connected to the roof 36, so as to give an aerodynamic shape to the trailer.
These walls 35, 36 and 37 are also connected by fillets to the two longitudinal vertical walls 38. These are, in fact, practically limited to a small rim or frame because they each have a very large opening 39 which extends practically to their entire surface.
It is through each of the openings 39 that one of the two movable parts of the body can move transversely.
Each of these movable parts comprises an external vertical wall 40, parallel to the longitudinal walls 38 of the fixed central part and it is this vertical wall 40 which is fixed to the external end of one or the other of the elements. mobile 2a or 2b of the extensible devices described.
In the example shown, two devices are provided, the double boxes (A, B) of which are rigidly fixed under the fixed floor 33, transversely to the vehicle using brackets, visible in FIG. 5.
The maneuvering shaft 1 is common to the various extendable devices and ends, at the rear of the trailer, with a crank 42, the rotation of which in one direction or the other allows, consequently, to lengthen or rac run the devices and move the vertical walls 40 away from one another or, on the contrary, bring them closer. These walls can thus pass from the position of FIG. 4 to the position of FIG. 7 and vice versa.
It will be noted that the control shaft 1 passes sufficiently below the axle 30 so as not to encounter this axle during the overhead movements of the bodywork. The position shown in fig. 5 corresponds to an empty trailer. When the latter receives people or any other load, the springs 32 flex to a certain extent and the shaft 1 moves away from the axle 30. It is therefore sufficient that, in the position of FIG. 5, the vertical distance x between the shaft 1 and the axle 30 is greater than the possible rebound of the vacuum body.
The movable side parts of the body series are completed by a roof 43, a front wall 44, a rear wall 45 and a floor 46, the four walls 43, 44, 45 and 46 being mounted to slide in the openings 39 of the side wall of the fixed part of the body.
Note that the floor 46 of each sliding part comprises, to the right of each wheel 31, a part 47 which is articulated on the outer panel 40, around an axis 48, which allows these portions 47 of the floors to be raised beforehand. when moving parts of the body work in.
It can be seen in FIG. 4, these two floor elements in their raised position.
In addition, there are provided, in the walls 40, windows or portholes 48 and 49 for lighting and the front wall 44 comprises an access door 50. As can be seen, the trailer is very low and, of therefore, its stability is very great.
The extensible device described can be used on all other vehicles, machines, devices or installations and, in particular, on the motor vehicles themselves, the boxes A and B being, in this case, interposed between the side members of the chassis and the floor itself, the advantage of the low height of the boxes making it possible, in this case also, to obtain a lowered body.
