Ce dispositif est caractérisé par le fait que le câble est articulé au levier tendeur de fa çoD telle que son axe d'articulation puisse se déplacer par rapport @à ce levier et occuper deux positions extrêmes, la première, dans la quelle la tension du câble tend à maintenir le levier dans sa position. d'accrochage, et la se conde, dans laquelle cette tension tend à décro cher le levier, ce dernier portant un verrou, coopérant avec une butée fixe;
<B> Binding device </B> for <B> ski. </B> Published December 16, 1955 Class 54 <B> b </B> The present invention relates to a binding device for ski comprising a cable hooking onto the tensioning lever intended to be placed at the front of the boot on the ski and the articulation axis of which is carried by a part capable of sliding against the action of an elastic member, on a plate intended to be fixed to the ski.
This device is characterized by the fact that the cable is articulated to the tensioning lever in such a way that its articulation axis can move with respect to this lever and occupy two extreme positions, the first, in which the tension of the cable tends to keep the lever in its position. hooking, and the second, in which this tension tends to unhook the lever, the latter carrying a lock, cooperating with a fixed stop;
intended to main hold the articulation axis of the cable in its first position, the whole being arranged so that a tension of the cable, exceeding a predetermined value and producing a displacement of the part on which is. hinged the lever, causes the lock to cooperate with said stop to free the joint of the cable which then comes into its second position, in which the tensioning lever is released.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention in a position mounted on a ski.
Fig. 1 is a view in elevation of part of this ski carrying the binding device. Fig. 2 is an elevational view, on an enlarged scale, with partial section, of part of the device in the unhooked state: FIG. 3 is an elevational view analogous to that of the. fig. 2, the device being hooked, and FIG. 4 is a plan view of the detail, shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
The binding device shown com takes a pair of jaws 1 attached to the ski 2 and a cable 3 passing behind the heel 4 of the shoe 5. This cable is hooked <B>: to </B> -a piece <B> 6 , </B> in the form of a stirrup, the branches 6a of which are articulated by means of a .axe 7 on it tensioning lever 8.
The latter has a straight section in the shape of a <B> U; </B> the axis 7 passes through elongated openings 9 made in the cheeks 8a of the lever 8 which is itself articulated at 10 on a slide 11. moving on a base plate 12 fixed to the ski. The slide 11 is formed of a tubular part inside which is arranged a coil spring 13, forced, on the one hand, by hooking, to the axis of the articulation 10 and, on the other go,
to a threaded rod 1.4 passing through a folded part 12a of the base plate 12. An adjusting nut 15, screwed onto the rod 14, makes it possible to vary the tension of the spring 13.
The lever 8 carries a lock 16; the latter is constituted by an elongated plate of straight section in the shape of a <B> 'U, </B> slidably mounted inside the lever 8 by means of screws 17 passing through elongated openings 18 of the lever:
One end of this plate has im.e part 16a folded at a right angle., While at its opposite end, the cheeks 16b of this plate cooperate with the axis 7 to maintain it at the end of the openings 9, which is lowest when the lever is in the hooked position.
When the fixing device is hooked, in the position of FIG. 3, in which the pin 7 is held in place by the latch 16, the axis along which the tension of the cable is exerted passes through the joint 10, so that the tension of the cable tends to maintain the tensioning lever in its position of acerochage. When the latch is released from the axis 7, that is to say. When it occupies, relative to the lever 8, the position shown in FIG. 2,
the axis 7 moves in the grooves 9 and reaches the other end of the latter, the position in which the axis along which the tension of the cable is directed passes above the articulation 10. The tension cable then tends to unhook lever 8.
The rod 14 carries a second nut, designated by 19, constituting a stop for the. part 16c of the lock 16. When, in particular during a fall of the skier, the tension of the cable increases excessively, the slider 11 moves towards the right of the figures by tending the res out 13. The .part 16a of the lock 16 abuts then against the nut 19 and, the lever 8 continuing to move to the right with the slide 11, the latch 16 is released from the axis 7, which, as has been stated above, produces the release of the device.
This fixing device therefore has a safety mechanism which, by automatically ensuring the unhooking when the tension of the cable reaches a determined value, reduces the danger of falls.
The voltage at which the stall occurs can be adjusted. by moving the nut 1-9 along the rod 14. A coil spring 20 is mounted around the. rod 14, between nuts 15 and 17. This spring prevents nut 17 from inadvertently moving.
