Closing lid for sterilization vessels.
It is known to provide closure lids for sterilization vessels with a breakthrough, which is closed with an elastic sealing piece which, when there is a vacuum in the vessel, is pressed onto its seat by the external air pressure.
In a known embodiment, the closure cover has a neck-like depression in the area of the opening, into which a flat soft rubber disk is inserted.
During the cooking process, the rubber washer is held in place by a clamping bracket that is specially cranked to engage in the cover recess, and when there is a vacuum in the vessel, it clings to the shape of the cover recess.
The disadvantage here is that the sealing by the flat rubber washer is unreliable on a relatively large and curved surface and that the flat rubber washer for ventilating the vessel can only be gripped poorly in the lid recess. It is also hardly suitable for indicating a vacuum.
Furthermore, an embodiment is known in which a flat rubber washer is fixed by means of a screw cap on the upper edge of a threaded neck protruding from the cover. The sewing part of this device is that it consists of two parts and that the sealing on the narrow front edge of the threaded neck depends on the tightening of the screw cap.
In order to achieve simple and rapid ventilation of canning vessels under vacuum, it has already been proposed to provide the closure lid with a central opening and then to close it with a stopper. This stopper closure is particularly vigorous when working with precisely fitting stoppers made of metal or glass. In addition, these stoppers do not allow the vacuum to be checked when the vessel is closed.
In the case of the closure cap according to the invention, the elastic sealing piece is a cap which, with its cylindrical casing part, encloses a neck formed from the cap and the bottom part of which seals on the upper edge of the cap neck when the center part of the cap base is in a vacuum in the vessel is arched inside into the lid neck.
Appropriately, the opening of the lower neck forms a recessed bed into which the bottom of the sealing cap presses itself when the vessel is under vacuum. The design of the elastic sealing piece as a simple cap, for example made of white rubber, enables the seal on the edge of the lid neck to be completely automatic in the event of a vacuum under the external air pressure without additional holding means, such as visor caps or the like comes.
Because the bottom of the cap is arched inward by the external air pressure, the edge part of the bottom held by the cylindrical wall part on the lid neck tightly and reliably adjoins the edge of the lid neck. The cap can already be pulled over the neck of the neck during the boiling process. A special holding means as in the above-mentioned embodiment is not required because the cap itself holds on to the neck of the neck and still allows steam to escape from the vessel. The vacuum in the vessel is reliably indicated by the concave curvature of the cap base, because when the vacuum disappears, the cap base, which is under tension from the edge, immediately returns to its level position.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention. Show it :
1 shows a vertical section of the upper part of the vessel with the cover attached,
2 shows a diagram of the closed vessel with the clamping bracket attached.
2 is a cover made of sheet metal, pressed metal, glass or other suitable materials, in particular aluminum, and 1 is a sterilization vessel preferably made of the same material. The lid, which is guided on the inside of the vessel, for example, engages with its outer edge 3 over the edge of the vessel 4, on which a sealing ring 5 is placed. From the lid 1, a neck 7 is formed out of a ver deepened central part 6, which surrounds a Dllrehbrueh 8 of the Deekels. The arrangement of the upwardly directed neck 7 is preferably made in such a way that its upper edge remains below the level of the neck 3 extending over the edge of the vessel.
In the exemplary embodiment, an inwardly sloping collar 9 adjoins the edge of the lid neck 7, which surrounds the Deekeldurehbrueh 8 and creates a recessed bed.
A resilient cap 70, for example a soft rubber cap, is put on the lid neck 7 for boiling. In addition, the cover is attached in the usual way by means of a resilient bracket 11 to the. with a sealing ring 5 covered vessel edge 4 pressed. If a vacuum is created in the vessel after the food has been cooled, the external air pressure presses the lid 1 with its outer edge 3 onto the sealing edge 4 of the vessel. At the same time, the bottom of the cap 10, which encloses the lid neck 7 with its cylindrical wall part, is arched inward under the external air pressure, as indicated by dashed dots in FIG. 1.
The outer edge of the cap base is pressed firmly onto the upper edge of the neck of the cap so that a perfect seal is created. The higher the vacuum rises, the stronger the locking pressure on the edge of the lid neck 7. In the exemplary embodiment, the deflection of the cap base is limited by the collar 9. It indicates that there is a vacuum in the vessel to keep it closed. If, as a result of a leak at the edge seal of the lid, air has penetrated the vessel and the vacuum has disappeared, the bottom of the cap indicates this by returning to its level position due to its internal stress.
It is therefore always possible to reliably check the condition of the product.
If the vessel is to be ventilated to remove the food to be cooked, it does not cause any problems to pull the relatively small cap off the neck of the lid by grasping its edge. After the pressure equalization has taken place, the lid can then be lifted off the vessel without the aid of a tool.
The recessed bed 9 attached to the outer edge of the lid neck supports the bottom of the cap 10 in the arched position so that, despite the thin-walled design of the cap, it is not drawn too far into the lid neck 7 and is protected against tearing through.
