Ranking tab. The present invention relates to a filing tab, characterized by the fact that it consists of a semi-rigid and transparent plastic sheet, presenting two substantially parallel folds, so as to form a flat sheath open to its ends and intended to receive a reference strip, and thereby. that it has along the sheath a marginal portion coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive material.
This tab can be attached to the edge of the guide of a file or folder, or to the insert sheet of a register or filing cabinet.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a hierarchical sheet provided with the classification tab. Fig. \ 3 represents the tab in perspective. Fig. 3 is a cross section. The filing tab shown is made from a single piece of celluloid and comprises a sheath 1 with parallel longitudinal edges, or at its ends.
This sheath has a base wall 2, coated, on a marginal part, with a layer of self-adhesive material 10 to which a protective strip 3, of creped paper for example, is moderately adhered, which is removed when gluing the sleeve. 'tab on the edge of the media for which it is intended. The sheath 1. is limited longitudinally by two parallel folds 4 and 6, the second of which, 6, forms a retaining gutter folded inwardly of the sheath.
A printed, typed or handwritten reference strip 7 is inserted into the flat sheath 1-2 by one of the open ends thereof. The strip 7 is then fully visible, both on the front and back. The strip 7 is provided with a colored longitudinal border 8, visible through the sheath.
When the tab is glued, for example, to the back of an insert sheet 9 of a register, the sheath 1, with the reference holder 7, protrudes over the edge of the support 9 and remains clearly visible.
The tab can be made from a semi-rigid synthetic material other than celluloid. It can also be obtained by transverse cutting of a long strip forming the sheath and having the cross section shown in FIG. 3.
