Description
Verfahren und Vorrichtung zum Verbinden der Enden von aus warmformbaren Kunststoffen bestehenden Mangettonbändern. Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Verbinden der Enden von Magnettonbändern, die zur Hauptsaehe aus einem warmformbaren Kunststoff bestehen und entweder in ihrer ganzen Dicke oder nur in ihren äussern Sehiehten mit Magnetpulver durchsetzt sind. Gemäss der Erfindung erfolgt das Verbinden der Bandenden in der Weise, dass diese überlappt und in Berührung mit einer-vor- zugsweise elektrisch-heizbaren ebenen, glatten Iletallplatte einem die Verschmelzung der Überlappungsstelle bewirkenden Druck unterworfen werden, wobei vorzugsweise die der Verschmelzungszone der überlappten Bandenden benachbarten Bandzonen während der Erwärmung der Verschmelzlmgszone auf einer unterhalb der Erweichungstemperatur des warmformbaren Bandwerkstoffes liegenden Temperatur gehalten werden und die Ver schmelzungszone der Bandenden in Richtung der Längserstreckung des Bandes sehmäler ge- halten wird als die Druckzone. Die wahrend der Ausübung eines Druckes auf die Überlappungszone der Bandenden mit dieser Zone in Berührung stehende VTetall- atte wil d vorzugsweise durch den sie durchfliessenden Strom erwärmt ; man kann aber anch z. B. die Erwärmung der Überlappungs- zone der Bandenden durch ein Hochfrequenz- feld bewirken. Die Vorrichtung zur Ausübung des Verfahrens naeh der Erfindung sieht, in teilweiser Anlehnung an eine bekannte Einriehtung zum Verbinden der Enden mit mecha nisch abtastbarer Schallschyrift versehener Sehallbänder unter Verwendung einer i, rber- deckungsmatrize, eine Presse vor, deren Tisch aus einer ebenen, glatten Metallplatte besteht, die mit ihren beiden Enden auf zwei Stromschienen und mit ihrem mittleren, unterhalb des Pressstempels liegenden Teil auf einem zwischen den Stromsehienen angeordneten Block aus Isolierstoff ruht und mit seitlichen Anschlägen zum Ausrichten der Seitenkanten der zu verbindenden Bandenden versehen ist. Diese seitlichen Ansehläge können z. B. durch einen das Einlegen der zu verbindenden Bandenden ermöglichenden Kanal gebildet sein, dessen Breite vorzugsweise gleich der Bandbreite ist. Ein Teil des Bandwerkstoffes an der Überlappungsstelle der Bandenden wird durch den Pressdruek seitlich weggequetscht werden, so dass eine unerwünschte Bandverbreitung entsteht. Um diese zu beseitigen, ist es zweckmä#ing, den Bandkanal durch Stege zu bilden, die im Zusammenwirken mit dem Pressstempel den seitlich übergequollenen Werkstoff wegschneiden. Ein Ausführungsbeispiel des Verfahrens nach der Erfindung wird anlässlich der Be schreibung des in der Zeichnung dargestellten Ausfiihrungsbeispiels einer Vorrichtung ge mä# der Erfindung näher erläutert. In der Zeichnung zeigt : Fig. 1 den feststehenden Teil der Vorrichtung in perspektivischer Ansieht, Fig. 2 einen Längsschnitt durch den Tisch mit den darauf liegenden Enden der zur verbindenden Bänder und den über der Über- lappungsstelle der Bandenden angeordneten Pressstempel. Der Presstiseh besteht aus einer glatten ebenen Metallplatte 1, die mit ihren beiden Enden auf je einer Stromsehiene 2 und3 und mit ihrem mittleren Teil auf einem zwi- schen diesen Stromseliienen angeordneten Block 4 aus Isolierstoff aufliegt. Die Metal]platte 1 ist in ihrer Längsrichtung mit einem flachen Kanal 5 versehen, dessen Breite gleich der Breite der zu verbindenden Magnetton- bander un dessen Tiefe höchstens gleieli der Dicke dieser Bänder ist. Die Enden der Magnettonbänder werden, wie aus Fig. 2 er sichtlich, in diesen Kanal. gelegt, und zwar derart, da# sie sich überlappen. Die Stromsehienen 2 und 3 sind durch ent spreehend dimensionierte Leitungen 7 und 8 an einen Stromwandler angeschlossen und werden mit etwa 1000 Ampere gespeist, wird der Strom eingesehaltet, so flie#t er über die Stromsehienen 2, 3, ohne diese merlich zu erwärmen, und durch die Metallplatte l. Diese wird auf ihrem mittleren, oberhalb des Isolierblockes 4 liegenden Teil erhitzt und bringt dadurch die Oberlappungszone der zu verbin- denden Magnettonbandenden zur Erweichung, so dass, wenn der Pressstempel 6 abgesenkt wird, die Bandenden miteinander verschmelzen. In den Stromsehienen 2, 3 sind Kanäle 9, 10 vorgesehen, die durch ein Rohr mitein- ander in Verbindung stelben. Durch die Ka- näle wird ein Kühlmedium geleitet. Damit die Magnettonbänder durch den Pressvorgang nicht beschädigt werden, erstreckt sich die Kühlzone der Stromischinen 2, 3 bis in die Druekzone des Pressstempels 6 hinein, die Temperatur wird in diesen Kühlzonen unterhalb der Einweichungstemperatur des thermo- plastischen Bandmaterials gehalten. Die seitlichen Ränder des Pressstempels 6 drücken also stets auf unerweichte Bandstellen, so dass keine Beschädiqunge des Bandes und der darin befindlichen Schallsehrift eintritt. Beim Abschalten des Stromes bewirkt die Kühlung der Stromschienen 2, 3 eine sehr schnelle Kübhlung des vorber erhitzten Teils der Metall platte l und damit der Enden der Magnettonbänder. Die nunmehr vereinigten Magnettonbänder können daher sehr bald aus der Prä#einrichtung hearusgenommen werden. WNird beim Verschmelzen der Bandenden ein Teil des Bandmaterials seitlich wegge- quetselt, so fuhrt dies zu einer unerwünsehten Verbreiterung des Bandes an der Verbin dungsstelle. Um diese Bandverbreiterung zu beseitigen, wird der Bandkanal durch Stege 11 gebildet, die im Zusammenwirken mit de Pressstempel 6 den seitlieh übergequollenen Werkstoff wegschneiden.

- PATENTANSPRÜCHE : I. Verfahren zum Verbinden der Euden von aus warmformbaren Kunststoffen bestehenden Magnettonbändern, dadurch gekenn- zeichnet, diJ) die Bandenden überlappt und in Berührung mit einer heizbaren, ebenen und glatten Metallplatte einem die Verschmelzung der Überlappunjgsstelle der Bandenhen bewirkenden Druck unterworfen werden.II. Vorrichtung zur Ausübung des Ver- falirens nach Patentanspruch I, gekennzeich- net durch eine Presse, deren Tiseh aus einer ebenen,glattenMetallplattebesteht,diemit ihren beiden Enden je auf einer Stromschiene und mit ihrem mittleren, unterhalb des Pressstempels liegenden Teil auf einem zwisehen den Stromsehienen angeordneten Isolierblock ruht. und mit seitlichen Anschlägen zum Aus- richten der Seitenkanten der zu verbindenden Bandenden versehen ist.UNTERANSPRÜCHE: 1. Verfahren nach Ratentanspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die der Verschmel zungszone der überlappten Bandenden benach- barten Bandzonen während der Erwärmung der Verschmelzaungszone auf einer unterhalb der Erweichungstemperatur des warmform- karen Handwerkstoi'fes liegenden Temperatur gehalten werden und die Verschmelzungs- zone der Bandenden in Richtung der Längserstreekung des Bandes schmäler gehalten wird als die Druckzone.2. Verfahren nach Patentanspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die während der Ausübung eines Druckes auf die Uberlap ; pungszone der Bandenden mit dieser Zone in Berührung stehende Metallplatte mittels des durchflie#enden elektrischen Stromes er . wird.Verfahren nach Patentanspruch I, da durch gekennzeichnet, dass die Erwärmung der Überlappungszone der Bandenden durch ein Hochfrequenzfeld erfolgt.4. Vorrichtung nach Patentanspruch II, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Tisch mit einem Kanal zum Einlegen der zu verbindenden Bandenden versehen ist.5. Vorrichtung nach Patentanspruch II und Unteranspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeich- net, dass der Bandkanal der Tischplatte durch Stege gebildet ist, die im Zusammenwirken mit dem Pressstempel den seitlich übergequol- lenen Werkstoff wegschneiden.
