Method for pest control on food and luxury foods. It is known that our dry food and glenuss products can become inedible due to the infestation of mites or moths. This particularly affects ground products such as semolina, flour or flakes, which cannot be freed from the pests' eggs by fine sieving.
The invention now has a method for (ffl'gen-, tand, which makes it possible to kill the Seliädlin --- e in the food and luxury goods and especially also their beer in a very economical way according to the invention is characterized in
that the item to be treated is exposed to the combined effects of infrared and ultraviolet rays in a continuous process.
Another object of the invention is a device for carrying out this method, which device is characterized by means for continuously conveying the material to be treated in a thin layer past infrared and ultraviolet rays.
The method according to the invention is also explained using an example on the basis of the accompanying drawing, which shows schematically and only an example of an embodiment of the <B> U, </B> line.
The only figure is a schematic longitudinal section The device through which the Einriehtun - comprises <B> '</B> a transport device with a conveyor belt <B> 1 </B>, expediently made of elastic fabric, a drive drum 2, which is connected to an electric motor 4 by a belt drive <B> 3 </B>,
and a tensioning drum <B> 5. </B> The two strands of the endless conveyor belt <B> 1 </B> run over smooth tables <B> 6, 7. </B> near the tensioning drum <B> 5 </B> A feed device <B> 8 </B> of known design is arranged above the upper run, which supplies a thin layer <B> 1) </B> of the conveyor belt running in the direction of the arrow piling up acting good.
The stripped material falls into a container <B> 10. </B> In addition, a few pull-over strings <B> 11 </B> are provided directly above the upper run, the task of which is to reverse the layer, as it were. In addition, infrared and ultraviolet radiators 12 are arranged over by far the greatest length of the device, more of the former against the tensioning drum and more of the latter against the drive drum 2. Reflectors <B> 13 </B> are arranged above all of these radiators. The upper table <B> 7 </B> is preferably made of polished sheet steel, so that it can also serve as a reflector.
The treated goods fall into a container 14, under which, in the present example, a filling and packaging device, expediently with automatic scales, is arranged.
In a zone extending from the feed device 8 into the irradiation zone, heating elements 16 are arranged in transverse grooves of the table. A vent <B> 25 </B> for cooling air is arranged between the feed unit <B> 8 </B> and the adjacent reflector <B> 13 </B>. The latter is sucked in by a fume cupboard <B> 25 </B>, then pushed through a dust filter <B> 18 </B>, from where it goes through a line <B> 19, </B> 20 to a room 21 directly above the drive stream. '2 achieved.
However, some of this air can blow off through the discharge line 22, provided that a regulating flap 233 arranged in this is completely or partially open. A hairdressing air amount corresponding to the amount of air escaping here is sucked in through the opening 24. The mixed temperature of the air entering between the rearmost reflector <B> 13 </B> and the transport belt <B> 1 </B> can thus be easily controlled.
The air, which only moves slowly in countercurrent over the layer being treated, is not only used for cooling; under the action of ultraviolet rays in particular, it also undergoes chemical changes, which we will see later.
Using the example below, the method according to the invention for combating pests on food and beverages will now be explained <B> - </B> oat flakes that are infected by the 3 # Ieliliiiotte (Ephestia Kühnellia cell) and that occur within three months because of the spinning activity the moth larva would be unsaleable,
are placed on the conveyor belt <B> 1 </B> in an approximately 2 to <B> 3 </B> mm thick layer. When they are transported over the heating elements <B> 16 </B>, they are preheated to around <B> 50 </B> to <B> 600 C </B>. Even before they exit this preheating zone, they come into the irradiation zone. Under the influence of the infrared rays to which they are first exposed, they heat up to about <B> 850 <I> C. </I> </B> The conveying speed is kept so that the oat flakes for about three minutes stay at this temperature. At the same time, the ultraviolet rays from the quartz radiators are effective.
The treated in this way is then cooled by the air coming from the room 21 in countercurrent and immediately packaged mothsieher. The above-mentioned increase in the LI temperature increases the pests' breathing effect. This facilitates the penetration of gases and hot air into the organism of the pests, i.e. the coagulation of the protein bodies is accelerated by the action of heat.
The simultaneous use of ultraviolet rays aims to increase the effect of the infrared radiation in the sense that the simultaneous formation of small amounts of ozone and oxygen-nitrogen compounds, gaseous oxidants, kill the pests and cause protein coagulation - accelerate.
Products treated according to the process described have a beautiful, bright <B> F, </B> color and pleasantly fresh.,; Aroma. They are completely free of living animal Sehädling, so that their durability extends over several years with a tight seal. can.
According to another exemplary embodiment, the infrared and ultraviolet rays could also be allowed to act on the material to be treated in a continuous process while it is falling freely.
