L'étai représenté est utilisé comme suit: La. plaque 3 est. placée sur un support fixe, puis l'élément 2 est déplacé manuellement dans le sens de la flèche 27 jusqu'à ce que la plaque 23 soit en contact, ou très près (5 à 15 mm) d'une pièce à étayer, cet élément 2 étant alors immobilisé au moyen du verrou 18;
Stay of adjustable length. The present invention relates to a stay of adjustable length, comprising two elements with telescopic interlocking, of which. the outer element carries, on the one hand, a lever to always drive in the same yen a drive member engaged with the inner element and ensuring the movement of the latter and, on the other hand, a lock cooperating with said member and preventing the movement of this inner element in the opposite direction to the movement imparted to it by said lever, characterized by the fact that the end of the lever, used to drive the drive member, has two branches between which the said organ is intended to come into engagement,
the pivot axis of this lever being mounted through one of these branches, so that it is capable of pressing under the member when the lever is lowered.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example. ple, an embodiment of the prop object of the invention.
The sole figure is a partial sectional elevation view thereof.
The prop shown comprises two interlocking elements 1 and 2. telescopic; the outer element 1 is tube-shaped. provided at its lower end with a support plate 3 and, at its upper end, with a lever 4, pivotally mounted. on a pin 5 carried by two flanges 6, the latter laterally border an opening 13 made in the element 1. The lever 4 has, at its end 30 intended to actuate a member 10, two branches 31 and 32, the latter is traversed by the axis 5 so that its end 33 is capable of pressing under the aforementioned member 10 when the lever 4 is lowered.
The member 10 comprises two perposed rings 40 and 34, the lower ring 40 being intended to bear on an annular stopper 14 with which the element 1 is internally provided; the upper ring 34 comprises a tenon 35 which is engaged in a corresponding opening 36 of the element. 1. The latter also carries a latch 18, of generally annular shape, threaded onto the element 2 and which has an operating handle 20 capable of being moved in an opening 37 of the element 1. The element 2 is provided, at its upper end, with a support plate 23.
The prop shown is used as follows: Plate 3 is. placed on a fixed support, then the element 2 is moved manually in the direction of arrow 27 until the plate 23 is in contact, or very close (5 to 15 mm) to a part to be supported, this element 2 then being immobilized by means of the lock 18;
finally, the lever 4 is brought into position 38 and then moved in the direction of arrow 39; the lever 4, at the start of this movement, firstly forces the member 10 against the element 2 then drives the latter in the direction of the arrow 27, until the plate 23 presses the part to be supported; at the end of its movement in the direction of arrow 39, the branch 32 of the lever 4 presses under the washer 40 of the member 10, which ensures the blocking of the element 2, the lever 4 then remaining immobilized .
The member 10 comprises two rings in order to distribute the force exerted by the lever 4 over two edges of each ring in contact. with the element. 2; in this way, the specific pressure exerted by these ridges on the latter is much lower than in the case of a single ring, which avoids the deterioration of the element 2.
