Driving, reversing and stopping mechanism for the loom. Controlling looms by individual motor a. generalized use, on each loom, of a friction clutch placed on the crankshaft. A clutch of this type generally comprises two cast iron plates, one of which is keyed to the shaft and the other is mounted idle with a toothed crown of large diameter which directly receives its movement from a high torque motor running at a speed of 950 rpm. minute; the construction is relatively expensive.
Because of their diameters, these clutches are heavy and cumbersome parts which weigh down the operation of the loom and. generate great inertia during sudden or rapid stops caused by a stopper or a weft breaker. On the other hand, the improvements with which modern trades are equipped, such as reverse gear, for example, entail the manufacture of a certain number of special parts and clutches which complicate the equipment.
The object of the invention is a drive mechanism., Reversing and stopping for a loom. weaving, characterized in that it comprises a member intended to be moved when the shuttle is correctly in place at the end of its stroke, while the absence of movement of this member due to an incorrect position of the shuttle at the end of the stroke causes the movement of a cam releasing a brake and simultaneously actuates a lever moving a clutch from a position corresponding to the forward movement of the profession to a position corresponding to the reverse movement of the trade.
The attached schematic drawing represents, by way of examples, two embodiments of the mechanism forming the subject of the invention: FIG. 1 and. 2 are elevation views of the engine assembly of a loom, respectively from the front and in profile.
Fig. 3 is a developed sectional view along 3-3 of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is, on an enlarged scale, a detail view of the articulation of a clutch control.
Fig. 5 is an elevational view of this profession, provided with a first embodiment of the mechanism according to the invention, a control rod being in the engaged position for normal operation before the arrival of the shuttle in its box.
Fig. 6 is a partial view, the shuttle being. in its box.
Fig. 7 and 8 are similar elevational views, when the control rod is in the reverse and disengaged position, respectively.
Fig. 9 is a partial view relating to a second embodiment with electromechanical control.
Fis. 10 is a diagram of the electrical connections of this second embodiment. Fig. 11 is a partial view showing the contactor opened by the presence in the correct position of the. shuttle in its box.
The loom to which the first embodiment of the mechanism is applied comprises an electric motor rotating at 1,500 revolutions which is of standard construction. This therefore results, on this head, in savings both in terms of purchase and consumption in relation to the type of engine currently used.
The electric motor 2 (fig. 1) driving the loom, via said mechanism, is fixed above a sealed casing 96, where three shafts 4, 5 and 6 rotate in the oil (fig. 3). ) carriers of reduction gears.
The main shaft 4 carries, on the outside, a grooved pulley 7 which receives its control from a pulley 8 (fig. 1 and 2) of the engine 2 via a belt 9. On this shaft 4 two clutches 11 and 12 are placed (fig. 3).
One, for forward travel, actuates directly, by a clutch pinion 13, a pinion 14 wedged on the output shaft 6 also carrying a grooved pulley 15 which drives, via a belt 16 (fig. 1 and 2), a flywheel or grooved pulley 17 fixed to the crankshaft 90 of the loom 51 (fig. 5).
The other clutch controls the reverse gear of the loom at reduced speed by means of a clutch pinion 19. This pin 19, driven by the clutch discs, not shown in the drawing, meshes with a pinion 21 secured to a pinion 22 which, wedged on the reversing shaft 5, meshes with a pinion 23 wedged on the output shaft 6..
Each of the two clutch gears, one for forward gear and the other for reverse gear, is controlled by a single lever 24 (fig. 5), the disengaged position of which is between the two positions. extremes of its travel 24a and 24b.
The movement of the lever 24, by oscillating in one direction or the other, around the journal 25 (fig. 5 and 7), actuates by its end 26 a control rod 58 which, by a return lever 88 , a shaft 87, another return lever 94, a connecting rod 95 and a clutch control crank 33 which oscillates a shaft 34, controls the clutch of one or the other of the pinions 13 or 19. By a crank lever 35 (flg. 4) wedged on it, the shaft 34 controls, in effect, the displacement of a clutch shoe 36 which is thus brought into engagement with one or the other of the clutches 11. or 12.
This clutch is very powerful while being very simple. The convenience of its maneuvering makes it possible to move the leaf of the loom in small portions and bring it to the desired position by actuating the clutch lever more or less.
The possibility of installing this clutch on the lower part and at the rear of the loom frees it. crankshaft spindle quin of all current orders. This results in a more relaxed appearance for the finished loom and a great simplification in its manufacture.
A good workout. and smooth running are ensured by the large ratio, which can range from 1 to 8, between the speed of the motor and the shaft of the loom in the case of a loom rotating at 180 revolutions.
The main advantages of this clutch are a large reduction in the control, the reversal of movement independent of the trade and the elimination of the trade in parts liable to create inertia detrimental to its. on and off.
When, following an incident, the position of the shuttle, at. when it arrives incorrectly, a device ensuring the immediate automatic stopping of the leaf, by braking and reversing gear with simultaneous control, makes it possible to remove the buffers. A bump in the shuttle box activates this device.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 8, which is to. mechanical control, the. bump 41 (fig. 5) of the shuttle box 42 controls, by a lever 43, pivoting at 44, the arm 45 of an angled lever 46, pivoting at 47 and whose end 48 of the other arm constitutes a movable stop placed under the leaf. 49 and describing with it a trajectory A-A '.
On the frame 57 is fixed, in order to pivot at 52, a lever 53 which, at rest, is biased by a spring 54 to occupy the approximately vertical position shown in FIG. 5. At its upper part, this lever 53 has a spout 55, at its lower part, its end 56 is. in contact with or in the very immediate vicinity of a stopper 57 fixed to the control rod 58 of the clutch.
After having completely carried out its course, the shuttle 59 (FIG. 6) occupies its. normal place in the box 42. The bump 41 is then pushed back in the direction of the arrow 61 (FIG. 6), the movable stop 48 oscillating with the leaf 49 is thus raised and passes freely. above the spout 55.
On the other hand, if the. shuttle 59 is not in its place against the bump 41 in the box 42, the stop 48, which is not raised by the lever 43, remains in the lowered position (fig. 7) and in its path meets the spout 55 lever 53. This results in an impact under the influence of which the lever 53 pivots in the direction of arrow 62 (FIG. 7), so that its lower end 56 pushes back the control rod 58, in the direction of the arrow 63, through the stopper 57 fixed on it.
In this sense, the operation of the rod 58 simultaneously controls the triggering. braking and reversing, followed by stopping.
Braking is obtained by means of a steel band brake 64, of the known type, self-clamping, having a strand 65 fixed at 67 and a movable strand 68 anchored to a lever 69 pivoting at 71 in the case where the drum 72, on which the tape acts, rotates in the direction of arrow 73 (fig. 5). The brake control lever 69 is integral with another lever 74 having the same pivot and comprising. two branches. At the end of one 75 east. moored the end 76 of a spring 77, the other end 78 of which is moored at any fixed point 79. In order to be able to adjust the tensile force of the spring. 77, its end 76 can be moved in the notches of a rack 81.
At the end of the other branch 82 is fixed a roller 83 rotating around a pivot 84 and able to come into contact. of the boss 85 of a cam 86 fixed to a shaft 87, the rotation of which is controlled by a crank 88 articulated at 89 to the rod 58.
By presenting its boss 85 (fig. 5) under the roller 83, the cam 86 cancels the tensile force of the spring. 77 by lifting the lever 74. The loom, released from all brakes, can work normally.
On the contrary, the cam 86 having pivoted in the direction of the arrow 91 (fig. 7), the roller 83 abandons the boss 85 and falls into the hollow 92, the spring 77 then pulls on the arm 75 of the lever 74 in the direction of arrow 93 and causes very energetic braking of the job in normal operation.
It should be noted that a band brake of this type practically does not act on the profession when it is. backwards.
On the shaft 87 carrying the cam 86 is also wedged a crank 94 which is articulated, by a connecting rod 95, to the crank 33 wedged on the shaft 34 controlling the disengagement and the clutch in both directions of travel by means of components contained in the housing 96.
The rapid movement, at the end of the stroke, of the. rod 58 in the direction of arrow 63 (FIG. 7) causes, simultaneously with the braking which has just been described, the reversal of direction by making. oscillate the crank 95 fully.
The crankshaft 90 of the loom then turns in reverse in the opposite direction to the arrow 73 (fig. 7) until the leaf is in its extreme rear position corresponding to. roughly in its horizontal position.
Having reached this position, the loom is stopped, because the operating rod 58 is brought to its mean position, that is to say that corresponding to the. disengaged position (fig. 8) by a movement in the opposite direction of the arrow 63 caused by the action of a cam 98, with two appropriately shaped bosses, wedged on the hunting shaft 97. The boss 99 of this cam 98, by rotating in the direction of the arrow 101, pushes back a stop 102 fixed on the rod 58.
The action of the boss 99 of the cam 98 against this stop 102 opposes the return of the loom in reverse. On the other hand, nothing is opposed to the return of the loom to forward motion, the stop 102 occupying the position shown in FIG. 5 and thus leaving free passage to the bosses of the cam 98.
So that the rod 58 always stops automatically in the position corresponding to the disengagement causing the stop. complete with the loom and remains there, at a point along its length, said rod 58 comprises a notch 103 into which penetrates a roller 104 fixed to the end of a lever 105, biased against this rod by a spring 106.
This mechanism allows in particular the removal and replacement of the ridges, commonly used on known looms, to abruptly stop the movement of the leaf in the event that the shuttle has not made its entire journey on the leaf. 49.
Instant reversal of the trade is. possible thanks to the high gear ratio of the clutch working in this direction. On the other hand, it is not hampered by the self-tightening brake whose action is only felt for the. forward gear corresponding to the direction of rotation indicated by arrow 73 (fig. 5).
The stopper devices are almost identical on all the best-known looms and always include a tab which meets a stopper when the release device is to be actuated. However, if the action of these stops is not always very sure, it is very dangerous for the frames of trades which must absorb in a single point a rather violent shock which, sometimes, deteriorates them. In addition, the mass, formed by the stopper rod of current mechanisms, entails the obligation to increase the effort, hunting of the loom, which increases the difficulty of adjustment.
In another embodiment of the mechanism according to the invention, to which FIGS. 9 to 11, the control rod 58 can be actuated electrically instead of being mechanically.
In this case, the purely mechanical action is replaced by the closing of a circuit. electric comprising. an electromagnet 11.1 (fig. 9) which attracts a core comprising a rod 112 with a slide 113. A journal 114, mounted on the crank 94 wedged on the shaft 87 carrying the braking cam 86, passes through the slide 113. When the core is attracted downwards by the electromagnet 111, the impact of the end 117 of the slide 113 on said journal 114 causes the crank 94 to rotate in the direction of arrow 118 simultaneously with. that of said cam 86.
The resulting movement being identical to that caused mechanically produced. the same effects of braking, overturning. on and off.
A possible connection diagram is shown in fig. 10 and comprises, in particular, a contactor 119 controlled by the movement of the bump 47. This contactor being always in the closed position, the circuit of the electromagnet must be interrupted by a device closing it periodically at the instant when the shuttle must be in box 42. For this purpose, a rotary distributor 121 is. set on the crankshaft 97.
The replacement of the control pins by this electrical contact facilitates the adjustment of the movement of the hunting, because the bumps act simply to slow down the shuttle normally.
In any case, mechanical or electrical, is there any appreciable additional effort slowing down the arrival of the shuttle.
The same release device and. braking can still be actuated in the same way by any other safety device such as: warp breaker, weft breaker, etc.
The mechanisms described present. all the advantages of similar known devices, while being much simpler to manufacture and easy to maintain.
By means of a single command, these mechanisms therefore make it possible to obtain forward travel at normal speed, reverse travel at reduced speed and the so-called loom disengagement. Reversal of gear can be obtained instantly, thanks to the large de multiplication of the clutch working in reverse.
The device for automatically controlling the braking of the movement of the loom makes it possible to stop it, with an open step, when this stop is made necessary by an incident that has occurred during operation.
