The invention relates to a method for dyeing wool in a mixture with other fibers with sulfo-containing 1: 2 metal complex dyes, the levelness of the dyeings being improved by adding certain substances (carriers).
It is known that wool, also mixed with other fibers, can be dyed with 1: 2 metal complex dyes containing sulfo groups. However, especially when the exhaust process is used, these dyes dye wool fibers of different quality in very different depths of color. On the commercially available types of wool, 1: 2 metal complex dyes containing sulfo groups therefore usually produce uneven, so-called schipprige dyeings.
It is known that this unevenness of coloration can be achieved by adding oxyethylated aliphatic amines, e.g. B. of addition products of 9 to 12 moles of ethylene oxide with 1 mole of oleylamine can reduce. The level of equality that can be achieved in this way is generally sufficient for the demands made on dyeing on loose wool and wool tops. However, it is often not sufficient for dyeing woven and knitted fabrics.
It is known from GB-PS 898 500 to dye nitrogen-containing fibers, especially wool, in aqueous liquors with 1: 2 metal complex dyes containing sulfo groups, and to use a mixture of an oxyethylated amine and an organic as a dyeing aid. non-ionizable hydrophilic compounds such as benzyl alcohol, cyclohexanol or 2-ethylhexanol should be used.
However, these dyeing auxiliaries are not very effective as carriers for dyeing polyester fibers at temperatures of up to 100.degree. From GB-PS 898 500 there is no indication that the dyeing auxiliaries mentioned there are also suitable for dyeing fiber mixtures.
From FR-PS 2 016 005 a process for dyeing wool with sulfo group-free 1: 2 metal complex dyes is known. Since sulfo group-free 1: 2 metal complex dyes do not produce any flaky colorations, it is not necessary to use a leveling agent as an auxiliary.
CH-PS 453 286 relates to a continuous dyeing process in which the wool is first padded with the liquor containing the dyes and auxiliaries and then the dyes are fixed by steaming. Suitable dyes are sulfo-group-free and 1: 2 metal complex dyes also containing sulfo groups.
Mixtures of chlorophenyl monoglycol ether with emulsifying anionic and nonionic products are described as auxiliary agents. With the continuous dyeing process, the level of dyeing depends on the most even possible distribution of the dye on the surface of the fiber.
The present invention was therefore based on the object of developing a process which allows wool to be dyed uniformly (evenly) in mixtures with other fibers, with sulfo group-containing 1: 2 metal complex dyes.
It has now been found that this object can be achieved and deeper colorations can be achieved if, when dyeing wool in a mixture with other fibers, in the exhaust process with sulfo group-containing 1: 2 metal complex dyes, the aqueous dye liquors are emulsions from 0.05 to 1.0 percent by weight, based on the liquor, of substances that act as dye accelerators on polyester and cellulose triacetate fibers.
The exhaust process is to be understood as dyeing in the liquor, the dye dissolved or dispersed in the liquor due to its; Affinity for the fiber is extracted from the bath. The exhaust process is used, for example, to dye in reel runners, nozzle dyeing machines or packing machines. The exhaust process is in contrast to other processes in which the dye is applied mechanically, for example by printing, padding, dripping, spraying, brushing, and then fixed.
In the process according to the invention, the wool is mixed with any other organic fibers, preferably with chemical fibers, for example made of cellulose triacetate, and with synthetic fibers, in particular made of polyester.
Colored complexes containing chromium or cobalt or copper and each having a metal atom with two organic molecules are known as 1: 2 metal complex dyes. Only those representatives of this group which are soluble in water and which have at least one, preferably two, sulfo groups in the complex are suitable for use in accordance with the present invention.
With dye liquors are meant the liquids containing the dye into which the textile material is immersed during the dyeing process. They primarily contain the dye, in addition, mostly auxiliaries and other additives, such. B. salts, wetting agents, dispersants, emulsifiers, other types of dyes for the non-wool component in the case of wool-containing mixtures of different types of fibers, foam suppressors, dye accelerators, leveling agents and the like.
These auxiliaries also include those to be added according to the invention in amounts of 0.05 to 1.0 percent by weight, preferably 0.1 to 0.4 percent by weight, based on the liquor. Substances acting as dye accelerators on Polvester and cellulose triacetate fibers.
The following are known as such: di- and trichlorobenzene, o-phenylphenol, diphenyl, 1- or 2-methylnaphthalene, aliphatic esters of salicylic acid, aliphatic esters of 2-oxytoluic acids, glycol and polyglycol ethers of chlorinated and nonchlorinated ones Phenols,
aliphatic esters of terephthalic acid, the alcoholic component of these esters being able to contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
The substances should be emulsified in the dye liquor, i. H. they should be liquid and finely divided at dyeing temperature (90 to 110 C, preferably 96 to 10t1 C). At room temperature, the substances can also be solid, i.e. they can be present as a suspension.
The emulsifiers used for the abovementioned substances to be used according to the invention are preferably nonionic oxyethylation products. As such, for example, oxyethylation products of fatty alcohols, fatty amines, fatty acids and alkylphenols come into consideration.
Since both the leveling and the color-deepening effect of the individual substance acting as a dye accelerator on polyester and triacetate fibers varies slightly from dye to dye, it is advantageous to use mixtures of several of the compounds mentioned when dyeing with dye combinations .
The auxiliaries and other additives that can contain the dye liquors also include the oxyethylated aliphatic amines mentioned above, which serve the same purpose as the additives according to the invention, namely to level the dyeings. They can advantageously be used in addition to the compounds to be used according to the invention, in amounts from 0.01 to 0.2, preferably from 0.01 to 0.1, percent by weight, based on the Fleet.
With some sulfo group-containing 1: 2 metal complex dyes, level colorations are also obtained very well if, in addition to the compounds to be used according to the invention, and instead of or preferably in addition to the oxyethylated amines, 0.01 to 0.2, preferably 0.02 to 0 , 1 percent by weight, based on the liquor, of a sulfuric acid half ester of addition products of ethylene oxide with a fatty alcohol,
for example, about 80 mol of ethylene oxide to 1 mol of stearyl alcohol is used.
The method according to the invention is particularly interesting for the single-bath dyeing of mixtures of wool and polyester fibers. The compounds to be used according to the invention act at the same time, in addition to their leveling out the effect in wool dyeing, as dyeing accelerators for polyester fibers. If you also use a sulfuric acid half-ester of an adduct of ethylene oxide with a fatty alcohol as an additional leveling agent for the wool,
so they also act as a dispersant for the disperse dyes required to color the polyester fibers.
It could not be foreseen that with the process according to the invention, the selective coloring of different fibers would be reduced or even practically disappeared and, as such, the levelness would be significantly improved.
For single-bath dyeing of polyester fiber-wool blends, an oxyethylated aliphatic amine can first be added to the dyebath. An emulsion of one or more of the compounds to be used according to the invention and acting as dyeing accelerators on polyester and cellulose triacetate fibers and a dispersant to stabilize the dispersion of the dyes required for the polyester portion are then added.
The pH of the liquor is adjusted with an acid and optionally with a buffer salt, e.g. B. acetic acid and sodium acetate, adjusted to 4.5 to 6.5, preferably 5 to 6. After these additives have been uniformly distributed in the dye liquor and on the textile material, the dispersed disperse dyes and the dissolved sulfo group-containing 1: 2 metal complex dyes are added at a temperature below 85 ° C., preferably between 50 and 70 ° C.
The dyebath is then heated to over 90 C, preferably 96 to 106 C; at this temperature is dyed for 1 to 2 hours and finished in a known manner.
The indicated amounts of auxiliaries can also be used for dyeing pure wool and wool in mixtures with other synthetic fibers or cellulose fibers with 1: 2 metal complex dyes containing sulfo groups.
The parts mentioned in the examples are parts by weight. EXAMPLE 1 1000 parts of water are heated to 60 ° C., 0.3 part of the adduct of 9 moles of ethylene oxide with 1 mole of oleylamine, 0.6 part of the sulfuric acid half-ester of the adduct of 80 moles of ethylene oxide with 1 mole of stearyl alcohol and an emulsion of 1 part 1,2,4-trichloro and 0,
