Cutting dies, especially for cutting threads of mounted bolts. The present invention relates to a die, particularly for cutting threads of mounted bolts. So far, a special device had to be provided when cutting threads in order to achieve a central guidance of the cutting iron, i.e. to prevent the cutting iron from being tilted during thread cutting, because the thread was not cut open at an exact angle on the bolt could be. Before these devices consisted of special guide organs on the die tra lowing holding organs, such as cutting clips and the like. When working, these guide elements require a certain amount of space around the bolt to be machined, especially when the bolt is mounted. is not always available.
This disadvantage is avoided in the die according to the present invention in that some of the iron pieces with cutting edges in the form of stripes are designed as a guide so that the die is guided centrally when the thread is cut.
Appropriately, the outer circumferential shape is polygonal so that it corresponds to a conventional key shape. This has the further advantage that the cutting iron can be operated using conventional socket wrenches, open-ended wrenches, etc., which do not take up as much space for their operation as is the case with cutting clips and other holding elements. This is of great importance in the case of bolts that have already been installed, especially when doing repairs.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, and they show: FIG. 1 a plan view of the cutting iron, FIG. 2 a side view, FIG. 3 a section along the line III-III of FIG.
The cutting iron body 1 has a central bore 2 with the cutting edges v, which are interrupted by the channels 4.
The central bore 2 (Fig. 3) is formed in its front part 5 as a cylindrical Füh tion, the diameter of the bore 5 corresponds to that of the bolt to be machined. The adjoining part 6 of the bore is slightly conical, and only the rear part 7 of the bore forms the actual thread cutting part. The conical design eases the insertion of the cutting edges of the die into the existing thread, mainly in the case of threads to be repaired.
The outer circumferential shape of the cutting iron is polygonal, preferably hexagonal tig, the dimensions are chosen such that they match those of a common key shape, e.g. B, a socket wrench, open-end wrench and the like.
The die (Fig. 2) is slotted lengthways, the width of the slot 8 can be changed to a certain extent by adjusting screws 9 and a regulating screw 10 in order to be able to adapt to small differences in the bolt sizes.
The mode of action of this cutting element is as follows: The cutting die is attached to the bolt to be machined with its guide and is thereby automatically guided and secured against rotation while working. To rotate the die, use an appropriate instrument adapted to the space available, with the space required around the bolt to be machined being smallest when using a socket wrench.
The die shown is particularly suitable for recutting threads during repair work. With these. it is usually possible to use the bolts z. B. to edit engine housings without the laborious and time-consuming expansion is required Lich.
This die can also be easily clamped in the chucks of drills due to its polygonal shape, with precise centering of the bolts to be machined is not necessary because this takes place automatically when inserted into the cutting iron.
