Fig. 10 veranschaulicht ein weiteres Ver fahren.
Ribbon cables for communications equipment and methods of making the same. The invention relates to a ribbon cable for communication devices and to a method for producing the same. Such a ribbon cable consists of several parallel, vonein other isolated conductors, for. B. Wires.
1) The previously known cables of this type consist of individual parallel wires which are combined to form a ribbon by woven textile threads, or individual insulated wires which are pressed into a ribbon-like structure. They have the disadvantage that the insulation values are low and increase in duration due to the influence of air humidity. continue to decrease.
Such cables are also very sensitive to solder spatter, which is very light. Burn the tissue and cause short circuits. In order to achieve and maintain better insulation values, the choice of installed wires has helped. However, the stripping and the pre-tinning of the soldering points require relatively high costs, since this work is cumbersome and can only be partially carried out in-line.
The purpose of the present invention is to create a ribbon cable zii and to provide a suitable method for its production, which ribbon cable .die conductor of a two-dimensional, electrically insulating material, such as a thermoplastic, z. B. polyethylene, polytetrafluoroethylene, or rubber, are surrounded and have bare conductor points at predetermined points. By special maschi nelle devices z.
B. during the manufacture of the ribbon cable, individual conductors can be kept free of insulation at certain points that can be determined in advance, which points are intended for making the connections between the ribbon cable and the line selectors or terminal strips.
In order to protect the uncovered connection parts of the conductors against oxidation and to be able to carry out the soldered connections at any time without further additional preparations, the conductors are pretreated in two ways, e.g. B. tinned.
With a ribbon cable constructed in this way, it can be achieved that the insulation properties of the systems are lioeli and remain constant, and that the operations necessary to connect the ribbon cable conductors to the soldering lugs of line selectors or terminal strips only consist of the actual soldering process without additional preparation.
For example, embodiments of the ribbon cable according to the invention and procedural Ren for their production are described below with reference to the drawing. In the drawing: Fig. 1 shows the sehaubildliehe view of a first embodiment of the finished ribbon cable and Fig. 2 shows a section along the line II-11 in Fig. 1 ..
1 means the thermoplastic or rubber insulation, 2 the tinned conductor. 3 are the points of the ribbon cable where the conductors are uninsulated to connect these conductors to the soldering lugs of the line selectors or terminal strips by soldering.
FIG. 3 shows how the ribbon cable according to FIG. 1 must be laid for connection to switching elements or terminal strips.
4 and 5 illustrate a method for making such ribbon cables. Tinned conductors 2 in the form of wires are held m a certain distance under suitable tensile stress and passed through a heatable mold, of which 4 represents the upper part and 4a the lower part. Above and below the conductor is a tape 5 of suitable thickness made of an insulating thermoplastic, z. B. of polyvinyl chloride or a mixture of thermoplastic, z. B. polyisobutylene, and rubber introduced. These bands 5 have slits 6 punched out at certain intervals, as illustrated by FIG.
These recesses 6 produce the insulation-free points in the mold for the soldered connections .der wires.
The necessary insulation material for the wire group can also be pressed into the mold after the injection process. It can be proceeded in such a way that the conductors are enclosed by parts of the compression mold at the intended locations that are to remain bare in such a way that. no insulation can be applied.
In the same way, such ribbon cables can be manufactured using continuous processes by replacing the press mold with press rollers, as shown in FIG. Here 8 denotes the press rollers, which are provided on their circumference with a groove extending along the press surface, the width of the band to be produced and the depth of the band 5 corresponding to the thickness. The ladder 2, e.g. B. wires, are performed in the tensioned state and ge desired constant distance between the two rollers.
They run from the A.bwiekelv arrichtung 1, and the finished ribbon cable is wound up by the winding device 11.
The finished punched strips 5 made of thermoplastic insulating material or vulcanizable rubber are plugged into the form of coils at 9. and then supplied to the rotating heated press rollers 8 via the heated when applying bands of thermoplastic material, when applying rubber cold cylinder 10.
Another exemplary method of making such ribbon cables is. in the application of the thermoplastic insulation material, e.g. B. Polyisobuty len, on the stretched and guided bare individual conductor by means of the spray gun. The points of the ribbon cable which are to remain uninsulated are created with the aid of masking templates. This type of production is also suitable for a continuous production process, the masking templates being moved forward at the same speed as the conductor.
Another example of the process for making such ribbon cables is illustrated by FIG. In this process, the tensioned, tinned wires? a thread 1? between every two adjacent wires? made of thermoplastic material. The whole thing is pressed together to form a band under heated rollers.
The rollers used for this process have points around the circumference at certain intervals with an inclined recess, so that the threads are not pressed through these points and the desired accessible bare points of the conductors for the soldered connections are created.
A further example of the process for producing such ribbon cables is shown in FIG. B. In this process, a pre-punched ribbon 5 made of thermoplastic insulating material is rolled over a cooled roller 8, and at the same time; resting on the tape, the tinned parallel conductors 2 are guided parallel to the tape at a certain distance and in a stretched position. The surface of the belt is made by hot air. or heated by means of the flame of a Bunsen burner 13, so that the conductors easily sink into the thermoplastic material.
A cold pressure roller 14 presses the flowing thermoplastic from above over the sinking ladder together and smooths the surface. The conductors remain uninsulated at the points on the tape where the punchings are located.
Such a ribbon cable can also be produced as follows: The individual tin-plated conductors are in a certain distance running next to each other in -stretched state in a normal injection molding machine, where they are provided with a thermoplastic material surrounding all conductors, and come as A ribbon cable insulated along its entire length. After the cable has cooled down, the conductors are stripped of their insulation by mechanical means, such as milling cutters, at those points that are used for soldering and should therefore be bare.
According to another method, the stretched conductors can also be individually provided with a thermoplastic sheath or a sheath made of rubber on a normal injection molding machine.
The unification of the individually insulated wires to form a strip can be done, for example, in such a way that the insulated conductors are passed through together between two heated rollers so that the insulation sheaths of the individual wires flow together, whereby care must be taken that the individual bare parts of the ladder come to lie next to each other in the desired arrangement.
According to another method, the conductors are also provided in a stretched and guided state individually with an insulating sheath by immersing them in a bath of latex. The insulation is then removed by mechanical means at the points which follow each other at certain intervals and which should be naked.
Several conductors produced in this way are then guided next to one another in such a way that the individual bare conductor points lie next to one another in an oblique direction, whereupon at certain points, as indicated in FIG. 9, they are pressed on by means of heat-pressed, cross-sectionally rectangular insulating strips 15 made of thermoplastic material be connected to each other.
Fig. 10 illustrates another method of driving. Conductors 2 that run in parallel are included. two prepunched ones above and below the same, d. H. Insulating strips 5 having recesses between two counter-rotating heated rollers 15 which are provided with grooves are passed. In the spaces between the conductors, the insulating strips are welded to one another by heat and pressure in such a way that insulating sheaths are created around the wires under air inlet 16, in which the wires can move freely.
All of these methods are characterized by the fact that the bare conductors intended for the manufacture of the ribbon cable are surrounded by electrically insulating material, with the exception of the conductor points which are to remain bare.
