Process for the preparation of an azo dye containing the azine ring. It is known that azines can be prepared from ortho-arylaminoazo compounds by treatment with acids (see, for example, Fierz-David, "Artificial organic dyes, Berlin 1926, page 309). Oxyazine sulfonic acids can also be prepared in a similar way, who are able to peln with diazo compounds to azo dyes (see. German Patent No. 209536).
It has now been found that azo dyes containing the azim-ing can also be prepared in such a way that azo dyes of the formula

wherein the naphthalene radical must contain at least one nucleus-bonded sulfonic acid group, aryl means any aryl radical having at least one free ortho position to the imino group, R-azo and R'-azo mean any,
optionally further residues of diazo compounds carrying azo bridges and where both R-azo and OH such as R'-azo and NH aryl are in the ortho position to one another, treated with acids or acid salts, optionally in the water.
Compared to the known methods for the production of azo dyes containing the azine ring, the new process, which carries out the azine ring formation as the last step, offers considerable advantages.
While the known Oxynaphthophenazinsulfonsäuren used for coupling respectively. Oxydinaphthazine sulfonic acids have only a modest coupling energy,
couple the corresponding azo dyes obtainable from arylaminooxynaphthalenesulfonic acids by acid coupling in ortho position to the NH-aryl group and can also be combined with less energetic coupling diazo compounds which react only incompletely or not at all with the above azines.
The transfer of the dis- resp. Polyazo dyes in the dyes containing the azine ring can either in aqueous solution by heating with acids, respectively. acidic salts or by introducing the dyes in concentrated acids at room temperature, if necessary with cooling.
Dis- and polyazo dyes which are capable of azine ring closure by the present process can be obtained, for example, from the following arylaminonaphtholsulfonic acids: 2-arylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid, 1-arylamino-8-oxynaphthaliri-4- sulphonic acid, 1-arylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-4,6 disulphonic acid, 1-arylamino-7-oxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid.
The dyes which can be prepared by the present process can, if they contain groups which form metal complexes, be converted into metal complexes in the usual manner in substance or on the fiber.
The present patent relates to a process for the production of a chromable monoazo dye and is characterized in that 1 mole of dianotated 4-N @ tro- 2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid with 1 mole of the dianotated sulfanilic acid with 2-phenylamino- 5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid obtained in an acidic medium, coupled with the monoazo dye obtained
Disazo dye converted into the monoazo dye containing the azine ring by treatment with acids or acid salts.
In the following example, parts mean parts by weight.
EMI0002.0021
23.4 parts of 4-nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid are dianotized as usual and, while cooling with ice, with 54.3 parts of the sulfanilic acid dianotated by coupling with 2-phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid in acid Medium obtained monoazo dye combined in the presence of soda. To promote the coupling, you can add 5-10 percent by volume of a pyridine base mixture.
After the coupling has ended, the disazo dye is isolated. It dissolves in water with red and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue-green color.
To close the azine ring, the disazo dye is dissolved in 1400 parts of hot water and 110 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid are added at 85-90 °. The mixture is stirred for 2 hours at 85-90 °, then made alkaline and isolated as usual.
The dye dissolves in water with a blue-gray color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a green color; Wool is dyed acidic in brown-red and chromed in dark olive tones with remarkable fastness properties.
The dye is identical to the already known, by alkaline coupling of dianotized 4-nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid with 7-sulfo-5-oxy-1,2-naphthophenazine in the presence of pyridine bases in significantly lower yield available dye. The sulphanilic acid produced during the azine ring closure can be reused for further approaches.
