Description

Method for pressing thermoplastic plastics by means of a press mold that is made of one piece with a prefabricated chamber.

Certain plastics, such as B. Poh, vinyl chloride, are thermoplastic, but can not be processed well using the known methods, since the same must be sprayed at a temperature at which the substance is decomposed in a very short time, including hydrochloric acid free which attacks and destroys the mold and other unprotected machine parts. Attempts have already been made to press such material into molds in such a way that the tablets formed therefrom are first heated to the highest possible temperature and then brought into the mold and quickly pressed therein immediately before decomposition occurs.

The subject of the invention is a method for pressing thermoplastics by means of a compression mold which consists of a single piece with a compression chamber into which the material is inserted in the form of a preheated tablet and which is characterized in that it is only preheated to a tough plastic state Tablet is pressed through a channel into the compression mold using a pressure piston. Such a high pressure can be used that the material is heated to the temperature necessary for its softening by the internal and external friction generated in this channel.

The method is explained below with reference to the accompanying schematic drawing, for example. The drawing shows a conventional compression mold 1 that is connected to the compression chamber 2 by a narrow inlet channel 3. The tablet 4 placed in the pressing chamber 2 is subjected to the pressing pressure with the aid of the piston 5.

The procedure is carried out as follows:
With the mold 1 closed, the tablet 4, which has only been preheated to the viscous, plastic state, is placed in the press chamber 2. After the press has been started, the piston 5 quickly penetrates the pressing chamber 2 and displaces the material of the tablet through the narrow channel 3 into the cavity of the mold 1. After cooling has taken place, the piston 5 is pulled out, the mold is opened and the pellet removed.

The material temperature can be increased by increasing the pressing pressure, either by narrowing the injection channel 3 or by increasing the piston speed by increasing the speed of the drive pump.

For example, the tablet can be preheated to about 1500 C, whereupon it during the displacement through the channel 3 using a pressure of about 500 to 800 kg / cm2 by the internal and external friction generated in the narrow channel 3 by 20 to 30 / o is further heated so that it enters the mold in a completely liquid state. The mass heated in this way fills the mold in a very short time, during which it cannot be cooled significantly.
