Apparatus for drying slaughterhouse waste, carcasses, fish, etc. with an agitator that can also be used for emptying. The processing of slaughterhouse waste, carcasses, fish and the like, according to the dry rendering process, takes place in practice in horizontally stored devices, which are provided with a steam jacket and a built-in agitator. The raw material is cooked and dried in these appliances.
The agitator of this apparatus originally consisted of a shaft on which blades are attached. whose head was designed as a right triangle.
If the agitator was turned in a direction in which the head of the blades pressed with the blunt side against the raw material, the material was only stirred. However, if you changed the direction of rotation of the agitator after the end of the work process so that the tip of the triangular head pressed against the material,
so the raw material was conveyed out of the apparatus. In this way, the apparatus was emptied very quickly.
However, these devices had the disadvantage that the processing of the raw material took too long because the heating surface of the jacket alone was too small. It has therefore been proposed to design the blades as hollow beams which are heated. The stirring effect of these paddles was good, but the emptying of the material was poor, so that a large part of the material had to be emptied by hand with a scraper.
The agitator could therefore not be used successfully for large apparatus.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for drying slaughter waste, carcasses, fish, etc. with a stirrer which can also be used for emptying. It consists of a cylindrical container with a rotating shaft carrying at least one hollow, heatable bar, which bar brushes along the casing of the apparatus when the shaft is rotating, and is characterized in that one or more further bars at a distance from the shaft on the shaft Sheath are attached, on which between these bars and the sheath inclined blades are attached, which stroke along the sheath during operation and move the treated material against a discharge opening.
The accompanying drawing shows schematically an example embodiment of the subject invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical longitudinal section where, for the sake of clarity, only the agitating elements lying flat in the section are shown.
Fig. 2 is. a horizontal longitudinal section along the line II-II of Fig.1.
FIG. 3 is a cross-section along the line III-III in FIG. 1.
The apparatus consists of a cylindri's container 10, the jacket 11 of which is double-walled. The cylinder is closed at both ends by covers 12 and 13, on wel chen bearings 14 and 15 for a rotatable hollow shaft 16 are formed. This shaft is driven by means of a drive wheel 17 and opens into a container 18 to which steam is to be supplied as heating medium.
On the shaft 16 three radial hollow arms 19 are connected to their hollow space at both ends, which wear a hollow bar 20 in pairs.
The arms 19 are arranged radially opposite arms 21 of U-shaped cross-section, which in pairs each carry a bar 22 which is arranged at a distance from the shell of the container. Each of these balls carries standing, inclined blades 23 arranged between it and the jacket. The blades 23 of the various beams 22 are offset with respect to one another in such a way that when the shaft rotates, they brush along the entire width of the jacket surface.
24 and 25 are on the jacket 11 vorgese Henen supply and discharge lines of the heating medium. 26 is a filling opening and 27 is an emptying opening.
The agitator could have only one bar 20 and only one bar 22.
The operation of the apparatus is fol lowing: The heating medium is fed from the container 18 through the shaft 16 and the arms 19 to the bars 20. If steam is used as the heating medium, the condensate forming in the arms 19 and in the bar 20 flows back through the shaft 16 into the container 18 and from there through the discharge of the heating medium.
The jacket of the cylinder 10 is connected to the heating medium source by the supply line 24 and discharge line 25.
During the rotation of the agitator 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, the inclined blades 23 sweep in the space between the bar 22 and the jacket 11 along this and exert an accumulation and consequently a transport effect on the material in the direction of the Axis against the drain opening 27. This transport effect, however, prevents the material from accumulating at this end of the apparatus,
because the hollow beams 20 dem. Stroke along jacket 11 and redistribute the material that has jammed in the container due to the shovels. So there is a double movement of the material during processing. Once in the direction of the emptying opening 27, caused by the inclined blades 23, and then in the opposite direction, be acting through the hollow bars 20. If, however, the emptying opening 27 is opened after the end of the process, the material moved by the blades can expel and the machine drains quickly.
This has the advantage that the Behäl ter can be emptied automatically and quickly, whereby the direction of rotation of the agitator does not need to be changed. This means that the heated agitator can also be used for the largest apparatus.
The bars on which the inclined blades are mounted could also be hollow and heated so that a larger heating surface of the agitator is achieved.
