Le mécanisme décrit jusqu'ici a seulement pour but de soulever la raclette au-dessus du cylindre et de l'appliquier à nouveau contre ce dernier.Il est également nécessaire que la raclette et son organe de support puissent être amenés dans une position d'inspection nettement dégagée du cylindre1;
L'opération de soulèvement et d'abaisse- nient de la raclette3 (c'est-à-dire celle qui est effectuée par le levierà main17) et l'opé ration de retrait et d'avancement de l'organe de support de la raclette (c'est-à-dire celle qui est effectuée par le volantà main25) sont liées l'uneà l'autre.A cet effet, l'arbre de vis sans fin 24, qui est actionné par le volantà main25, porte un disque de ver rouillage26, autour duquel sont disposés des leviers de verrouillage27 et 28 pivotés en 29 et30 (voir fig. 4);
Rotary to intaglio printing machine. This invention relates to a rotary intaglio printing machine. In known intaglio printing machines, a flexible squeegee, generally constituted by a steel strip, is presented against the surface of the impression cylinder in order to sweep the latter, leaving no residue. ink than in engraving. The use of a flexible blade makes it possible to obtain an efficient sweeping, the blade being applied against the printing surface substantially radially, under a pressure such that the active edge of said blade flexes in the direction of rotation of the blade. cy- lindre.
However, since the printing surface can be easily scratched, it is preferable, when bringing the active edge of the squeegee against the cylinder, to avoid applying said field squeegee to the printing surface. of the last.
On the other hand, during the use of machines of this type, it is frequently necessary to notably move the squeegee away from the printing surface, for example to process to the inspection of said squeegee or said surface. When it is possible to arrange the squeegee at a point on the cylinder remote from the printing area, it is not very difficult to prevent the squeegee from being forced against the cylinder.
On the other hand, when the squeegee must be placed very close to the printing area, as is the case in certain machines, this condition is more difficult to to fulfill because of the few es - available space For the movement of the squeegee, the freedom of movement of the squeegee being restricted because it is necessary to avoid damaging the to print web passing through the printing area.
The machine forming the subject of the invention comprises a squeegee holder device, in which a squeegee support member is hingedly supported by at least one pair of arms of different lengths which can oscillate around axes of rotation, the shorter arm of said pair of arms being disposed at a greater distance from the impression cylinder wiped by the squeegee than the longer arm.
It is characterized in that said support member is pivoted on the longer arm of said pair of arms and in that the squeegee holder device comprises first means intended for </ B> tilt the said support member around its pivot on the longer arm, to allow the squeegee to be lifted at will relative to the cylinder and to lower it into a wiping position on the latter, and second conds mo ens intended to simultaneously move the two arms of said pair of arms to allow bringing the,
squeegee at will in an advanced position close to the cylinder and in a withdrawn position for inspection away from the latter, and in that said device further comprises locking means which make said second means inoperative and prevent the squeegee from being returned to the advanced position as long as the first means have not been actuated so as to bring said support member into its corresponding position upon lifting of the squeegee .
The squeegee support member which is pivoted on the long pl-Lis arm is preferably also connected by hinged elements to the shorter arm of said pair of arms.
In the machine according to the invention, the movement of the squeegee between its wiping position and its inspection position is carried out in two stages. a step during which the squeegee is mainly lifted from the cylinder (or brought against the latter), this displacement preferably being small compared to to that carried out at during the second step during which the squeegee is withdrawn into a well-released inspection position (or brought from said position to the vicinity of the cylinder ).
The displacement of the first stage may be small and the blade holder device is preferably made in such a way to prevent the squeegee from being applied directly in the field against the cylinder, to following a radial movement or substantially in the plane of the non-flexed squeegee, to avoid damaging the cylinder.
The presence of locking means, which prevent the squeegee from being returned to the advanced position as long as the first means have not been actuated so as to bring the support por- gane into its position corresponding to the lifting squeegee, prevents the operator from bringing the squeegee directly to the sweeping position to from its inspection position without observing the two stages of this movement .
The drawing represents, by by way of example, a form of assessment of the printing machine which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a squeegee holder device included in the printing machine, FIG. 2 a plan of FIG. 1, fig. 3 a side view to on a larger scale, fig. 4 -a section through line IV-IV of, fig. 2 and to a large scale pl-Lis, FIG. 5 a section through the line V-V of fig. 4.
In these figures, 1 indicates a printing cylinder having at its periphery 2 an engraved printing surface, ink having been applied to this surface before it does not pass under a squeegee 3, which removes the ink from the surface of the cylinder, but leaves it in the engraving of the latter. The ink left in the engraving is applied to the surface of a strip to to print 4, of paper for example, when the latter passes between the cylinder 1 </ B > and a printing roller 5. Such a printing operation is in itself well known and it is not necessary to give a more complete description.
Regarding the mounting of the raclette 3, the latter is fixed to a squeegee support 6, so that the edge of the squeegee, which is made of an elastic metal, protrudes slightly from the support, this edge constituting the wiping edge of the squeegee being free to bend against the cylinder 1. The support 6 is fixed by clamps 7 to three arms 8 placed near the ends of the support 6 and in the middle of the latter. The support 6 and the three arms 8 constitute the support member of the squeegee itself.
The 8 arms are themselves attached to a 9 rod which is pivoted in 10 arms near its ends and in the arm the long pl-Lis 11, forked, of a pair of arms 11, 19, in its middle part. The arms 8 are liable to oscillate around the axis of the rod 9, with the latter, to move the gear 3 </ B > of the printing surface 2 in one direction and to bring the squeegee against this surface in the other direction.
As can be seen in in fig. 3, the axis of the rod 9 is arranged so that the rotation of the arms 8 causes the movement of the squeegee 3 along a path clearly distinct from that which the squeegee would follow if it were brought radially in the field against the cylinder. Thus, when moving the arms 8 in the opposite direction to that of clockwise (fig. 3), to apply the squeegee 3 on the cylinder 1, said squeegee is approached to the cylinder along a path clearly distinct from the almost radial plane which it reaches in the scanning position.
To perform the rocking movement of the arms 8, the rod 9 is rotated; for this purpose, the middle arm 8 comprises a extension 8 ' terminated by a head 12, in which is mounted to for rotation a drag rod 13 carrying an ankle 14 (see fig. 4) arranged eccentrically and engaging in a mortise 15 of a reaction block 16 which is pivoted on the end of the arm 19 constituting the shortest arm of the pair of arms 11, 19 which supports the support member of the squeegee.
A hand control lever 17 is fixed to the rod 13; when the said lever is rotated, the eccentric pin 14 reacts against the walls of the mortise 15 to raise or lower the rod 13 and, therefore, the head 1.2 in which said rod is mounted.
The mechanism described so far is only intended to lift the squeegee above the cylinder and press it to again against the latter. It is also necessary that the scraper and its support member can be brought into an inspection position that is clearly free from the cylinder 1;
this operation is carried out in a different step from the one during which the squeegee is raised and, to accomplish this movement, the arms 10 and 11 are carried by a rod 18, around the axis of which said arms are tilted to move away the cylinder mechanism 1. This movement of the arms is effected by fixing to the rod 18 and by pivoting the reaction pin 16 with the forked arm 19 to the end of which it is fixed, this arm 19 being itself fixed by its lower end to a pin 20 penetrating into a gear housing 21. A inside this housing, the axis 20 is fixed to a wheel 22 which en-reins with a tangent screw 23 mounted on a shaft 24 bearing,
to the outside cl-Li housing, a handwheel 25, with which it is operated. The tangent screw is preferably multiple threaded so that the additional forward or backward movement of the squeegee support member can be accomplished quickly.
It is obvious that by turning the steering wheel by hand 25, the axis 20 is rotated which, to < / B> in turn, through the intermediary of the arm 19 and the extension 8 ' of the arm 8, actuate and tilt the arm < B> 11 and, consequently, the rod 18 and the arms 10.
The operation of raising and lowering the squeegee 3 (that is to say that which is carried out by the lever with hand 17 ) and the operation of retraction and advancement of the squeegee support member (that is to say that which is carried out by the handwheel with hand < B> 25) are linked one to the other. A for this purpose, the worm shaft 24, which is actuated by the hand handwheel 25, carries a rusting worm disc 26, around which are arranged locking levers 27 and 28 rotated in 29 and 30 (see fig. 4);
these levers have respectively, near their pivot points, gripping surfaces 31 and 32 in the form of wedges, for clamping the periphery of the disc 9- 6, the wedge-shaped surfaces being inlinear in opposite directions, in order to each operate for one of the directions of rotation of the shaft of the tangent screw. The ends of the levers 27 and 28 which are located at opposite surfaces 31 and 32 wedge-shaped are held apart by a spring 33, so that the wedge-shaped ends are held towards their working position in which said levers prevent the saying 26 to turn.
A the free end of the lever 28 is attached a flexible cable 34 of a cable transmission device, the outer casing of which 35 </ B > abuts against the free end of the lever 27. The other ends of the inner cable and of the casing are fixed respectively on a projection 36 of the head 12 and on a protrusion 37 of the reaction stud 16, said protrusions moving with respect to each other to when the squeegee is lifted and the arrangement being made such that after the squeegee has been lifted in the manner described above, the inner cable 34 and the outer shell 35 have moved on top of each other and caused the displacement of the locking levers, 27 and 28,
so that the wedge-shaped ends of said levers have moved away from the locking disc 26 mounted on the shaft 24 of the tangent screw, and thus released said disc and, consequently, said tangent screw. We can then actuate the squeegee holder device to move the squeegee away from the cylinder or bring it back against the latter. If, in any position of the mechanism, you f have operated the lever by hand 17 to lower the squeegee 3, </ B> the locking levers are returned to the locking position and thus keep the squeegee holder fixed against general movement.
The rod 9 carrying the squeegee is held bare by a torsion spring 42, arranged on said rod so that the lifting of the squeegee takes place against the action of this spring. The torsion spring 42 (see fig. 1) carries, at one of its ends, on a collar fixed to the rod 9 and, at its other end, on a binding collar which is loose on said tigect which is provided with a tooth-Read cooperating with a tan gente adjusting screw 43 'provided with 'an order chicken 43 (see fig. 3)
. The screw 43 'is mounted to rotation in ears 47 pre seen on the arm It and allows to turn the collar 46 to adjust the tension of the spring 42. To allow the rack to be retained in its raised position, the hand lever 17 of the device to can be positioned. town and mortise so that it can be locked in its position corresponding to the lifting of the squeegee. When the lever 17 is released, the spring 42 returns the scraper 3 to its normal position, in which it is held elastically under the action of said spring.
The support 6 of the squeegee is disposed so à that it can be driven by a lateral back-and-forth movement, as in usual practice. For this purpose, the entire scraper mechanism described is carried by a base slide 48 which is capable of sliding, pa rallying to the axis of the cylinder 1, on a slide indicated at 44; said slide being set in motion by any of the mechanisms commonly used.
