Pulling and lifting device. There are known traction and lifting metal cable devices in which the cable passes through two identical clamping devices, one of which is fixed and the other movable under the control of the cable. a hand lever. A reverser allows the direction of movement to be changed in order to obtain, in the event that the device is used as a lifting device, the lifting and lowering of the load.
The upward movement takes place when the lever is moved up and down; the descent takes place after the reverser has been operated and when the lever is moved from bottom to top. In either case, therefore, there is only a movement of the lever which produces useful and positive work.
The present invention relates to a metal cable traction and lifting device comprising a cable which passes between the jaws of two identical clamping devices which, during operation of the device, is alternately approach and move away from each other, one sliding along the cable, the other tightening it, these movements being imparted by means of two distinct bone members, respectively articulated to said devices by means of connecting rods, these organs controlling, each in one direction, the relative movement between the device and the cable.
The attached schematic drawings represent, to by way of examples, two embodiments of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 is, in elevation, a profile view of the apparatus according to the first embodiment.

Fig. 12 is a section on 12-12 of FIG. 9.
The device (fig. 1) comprises a frame or casing made up of two stamped parallel flanges 2 and 3, within which its components are closed.
The traction cable 4 penetrates inside the interior of the frame through a guide 5 (fig. 2) placed at its upper part. It passes through the two clamping devices 6 and 7. Its free end 8 comes out of the device through the cable outlet 9.
In the example shown, the hook 10 is assumed to be hooked to a fixed point, and the mobile device along the cable 4 lifts with it a load fixed to the hook 11. But this device can be used differently, for example by anchoring, by its hook 11, the device to a fixed point and by passing the cable 4 over a fixed return pulley placed above it. We can then lift a load attached to the hook 10 located at the end of the strand brought back to the ground.
It is also possible, with respect to to the position shown in the drawing, turn the device upside down, so that the hook 11 is up and the hook 10 at the bottom, In this last case, as in the previous one, the apparatus is moored by its hook 11 at any fixed point, when it is maneuvered , he moves the cable 4 relative to to him and thus lifts the load hooked on the hook 10 located at the free end of said cable 4.
The cable 4 passes between the jaws 48 and 49 (fig. 5) of each clamping device. These form self-clamping blocks com posed as follows: Two braced flanges connected to the crankshaft 13 by connecting rods 16 and 17 carry four links ac coupled two to two by their ends, which support the jaws 48 and 49.
These links are formed in such a way that half-round journals 53 and 52, which are integral with these jaws 48 and 49, are brought together or separated depending on whether said links are lowered or raised. A this effect, the connecting rods 34 and 35 are connected by connecting rods 23 and 24, articulated to the heads 32 and 33, and to a lever 19 (fig. 2).
At rest, the forces applied to connecting rods 34 and 35 by springs 25 housed in tubes 26 integral with parts 27 joined by a journal 28 free to move under this impulse with a bearing 19 allow the starting of tightening without sliding on the cable 4 of the jaws 48 and 49. In the direction of arrow 31 (fig. 4), the springs transmit their opposing force to the articulation journals 32 and 33, if killed in the extension respectively of rods 34 and 35.
A when the device is raised along the fixed cable, the two clamping devices 6 and 7 are actuated by the shaft 12 on which is wedged the double handle 13 carrying the two crankpins 14 and 15 to which they are coupled, the device 6 to the crankpin 14 by the connecting rod 16 and the device 7 to the crank pin 15 by the connecting rod 17. This shaft 12 which serves to cause the upward movement is actuated by a lever, not shown, inserted into the socket 18 (fig. 1 and 4).
The descent movement is controlled by a lever, not shown, introduced into the sleeve 19, which is coupled by the pins 21 and 22 respectively to the connecting rod 23 which actuates the upper device 6 and to the connecting rod 24 which actuates the lower device 7.
Two guide rods 30 (fig. 2 and 3) pass inside the inside of the springs 25 of the tubes 26 and, are joined by the crosspiece 36 housed in the slot provided for this effect in the guide of the device 6 </ B > fixed on the housing 2.
To obtain the upward movement, the sleeve 18 is operated in the direction of the arrow 37 (fig. 1 and 4). The lower device 7 tightens the cable 4 in proportion to the weight of the load. At the same time the upper device 6 slides along the cable 4, so that the device goes up along the cable while lifting the load. A at this time, the two devices clamps 6 and 7 move away from each other. By moving the socket 18 in the opposite direction to that of the arrow 37, the positive 6 tightens cable 4, device 7 slides.
The two devices move closer to each other, as the device climbs up the cable again, lifting the load.
To obtain the descent movement, we operate the lever mounted on the sleeve 19 which takes its fulcrum on the journals 21, 22, 32 and < B> 33. The pin 28 swings in place in the lights 29 during ascent and descent. By maneuvering the lever! mounted on the socket 19 in the direction of the arrow 38 the two devices move closer to each other, the device 6 is releases and slides while braking on cable 4; the device 7 remains in engagement with the cable 4 and supports the device and the load suspended from it. If the socket 19 is operated in the opposite direction to that of the arrow 38, the two devices 6 and 7 move away.
The clamping device 7 brakes the cable moving away from the other device 6, which clamps the cable.
The stopping of the maneuver, to the ascent or to the descent has no determined position, the load always tends to block the two devices in the tightening position, the two bushes 18 and 19, by pivoting, always having an action opposite to each other.
For the introduction or removal of the slack cable out of the device, it is necessary to keep the jaws or green. For this, we bring a part 39 in the position shown in fig, 4 and we maintain it by using the beak of the latch 41.
This part 39, integral with the member 43 via the axis 44, controls said member which pivots on the axes 44, moving the shaft 45 and the two curved rods 46 which drive the journal 28 keeping the jaws open, the journal 28 being brought into the lower position by the lever 39, the links of the clamping devices driven born in this position by 32 and 33 control the spacing of the jaws 48 and 49 and give free passage to the cable 4.
The jaw 49 (fig. 7) can receive an interchangeable shim 51 to compensate for its wear and that of the jaw 48. The links 34 and 54 respectively pivot on the bolts 55 and 56.
In the second embodiment (fig. 8 to 12) the socket 19 sorrel around the pivot 28a which is held in a fixed position for the up and down movements of the clamping devices. It is articulated by the pivot 2la to the rod 23a which is, in in turn, articulated at 32a to the lever actuating the block 6 of the jaws upper and, directly, by the pivot 22a to the lever 35a which actuates the block 7 of the lower jaws.
This second embodiment comprises means for preventing, during the downstroke, the clamping devices from abutting against one another. A this effect, the limitation of the stroke of the devices tightening 6 and 7 is obtained by that brought to the stroke of the rod 23a controlling the movement of the jaws higher.
For this purpose, the rod 23a is profiled in such a way to come into contact with the pivot 28a which stops it at the point chosen for the low limit switch (fig. 8) or upper limit switch (fig. 9). This prevents the devices 6 and 7 from coming into contact with one of the other or to the contact of the building.
To allow the introduction or withdrawal of the relaxed 8 cable, through the jaws which must then be able to be all open, the pivot 28a is moved downwards which is engaged in the groove 59 (fig. 11) provided in the 60 ears which carry it and which are integral with the tube 26.
This movement is obtained by causing the part 39 to reverse downwards which is then blocked by the bolt 41. By tilting this part, by means of the rod 61, we moves the lever 62 , the opposite end of which is integral with the pivot 28a.
