Zur Steuerung der Ventile dient Druck luft. Die Druckluft strömt nun von einer nicht dargestellten Druckluftquelle durch die Leitung 55 in den Zylinder 42, wodurch der Kolben 54 nach oben getrieben wird;
Process and device for the production of washed nitrocellulose. The present invention relates to a process for the production of washed nitrocellulose, in which nitrocellulose is freed from waste acid in a rotating centrifuge and then brought into contact with rinse water.
In this type of process, a centrifuge is often used, the housing of which is provided on its circumference with an outlet for the waste acid and in the vicinity of its axis with a bottom outlet and the basket has a removable cover.
After the greater part of the waste acid has been removed from the nitrocellulose by rotating the centrifuge basket, the rotation is interrupted and the cover is removed by the operator, who then removes the ring-shaped nitrocellulose cake, which is still moistened with waste acid, and breaks it into pieces drops into a funnel, in which it is washed out with a large amount of cold water, which is allowed to flow at great speed into the upper part of the funnel.
The waste acid still contained in the centrifuged nitrocellulose is quickly and strongly diluted as a result, and the washed nitrocellulose that falls out of the funnel is stabilized, if desired, after further purification. The undiluted waste acid flowing out of the centrifuge housing is caught in a container usually made of soft iron and then strengthened again.
The nitration of cellulose is a reversible process, and denitration takes place at great speed if the washed nitrocellulose is left in contact with an acid that is more dilute than the original waste acid, but less diluted than that in the washed mixture remaining acid. It is known that the waste acid still contained in the centrifuged nitrocellulose must be diluted quickly in order to prevent the nitrogen content of the product from being considerably reduced and the product being rendered unusable or even subject to severe decomposition.
The centrifuged nitrocellulose cake, which is still wetted with undiluted waste acid, also has a tendency to foam up with such violence that the operator can be injured if the pieces fall into the flushing funnel. Such decomposition is particularly violent and dangerous in the case of nitrocellulose with a high nitrogen content, e.g. B. Gun cotton.
In the centrifuged nitrocellulose cake there are favorable conditions for the local development of high temperatures, since it is with smaller amounts of water or other foreign bodies through, -which dilute the waste acid still contained in the nitrocellulose cake or can react chemically with it; many of the dangerous decompositions that occur so frequently in practice can be traced back to these causes.
It also often happens that in damp weather the nitrogen content of the nitrocellulose is significantly reduced while the operator empties the contents of the centrifuge basket into the wash-out funnel, since the nitrocellulose cake is then exposed to the atmosphere.
In order to avoid these deficiencies, the method according to the invention for the production of washed nitrocellulose, in which nitrocellulose is freed of waste acid in a rotating centrifuge and then brought into contact with rinsing water, consists in that the rinsing water immediately after the centrifuge rotates followed, practically complete removal of the waste acid is passed through the nitrocellulose in the centrifuge.
In practice, there is always a residual rinse water in the centrifuge. This must be removed if you want to prevent it from coming into contact with the next load on the centrifuge drum. This rinse water residue can be removed in such a way that it is displaced by means of compressed air or waste acid or a similar liquid essentially without any heating effect.
It is clear that the sequence of the following processes is adhered to when carrying out the process, namely centrifuging away the undiluted acid waste, breaking the connection between the centrifuge and the container for the acid waste, letting in the rinsing water, removing the Rinse water residue from the centrifuge, the reestablishment of the connection between the centrifuge and the acid waste container.
Within this framework of operations, various possibilities exist with respect to the time in which the centrifuge is shut down, the load is removed and the centrifuge is loaded again. You can z.
B. after the rinsing water flow is interrupted, the centrifuge should be switched off and the nitrate ocellulose cake removed before the water residue is displaced, the centrifuge can then be restarted to remove the remaining water before the connection with the waste acid container is re-established and the new batch is introduced. You can use compressed air or acid waste to displace the rinse water residue.
The displacement of the rinse water residue can also be carried out as long as the centrifuge is still rotating, with the aid of compressed air; With this type of procedure, the centrifuge is only turned off after the rinse water residue has been displaced and the nitrocellulose cake is then taken out.
The connection to the waste acid container can be re-established when the centrifuge basket is rotating or when the centrifuge basket is at a standstill, and the new loading can be carried out either with the centrifuge basket at a standstill or with the centrifuge basket rotating, although this is desirable in the latter case to load at a much slower rate than that used during carrion washing.
If the nitration is carried out in the centrifuge, some of the new acid can be filled in while the centrifuge is at a standstill, but the rest of the acid with the cellulose is expediently only filled in after the rotation has started again.
The invention also has a device for performing the fiction, according to the method.
The device according to the invention, which includes a centrifuge and rinsing water distributor, which are arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of rotation of the centri fuge, has outlet control means with a two-way tap that connects the centrifuge to the rinsing water sump by means of a line and to the Container for the waste acid connects.
An embodiment of the device according to the Invention is shown in the drawing, and, for example, embodiments of the method according to the invention will be described in connection with this device. In the drawing: FIG. 1 shows a vertical section and FIG. 2 shows a horizontal section along the line 11-II in FIG. 1 of part of the device.
3 and 4 show on a larger scale in vertical section and in side view the two-way valve through which the undiluted waste acid and the rinse water are passed, and schematically the Steue tion of the rinse water inflow; Fig. 5 shows a vertical axial section of an embodiment of the centrifuge part of the device.
In Figure 1, 1 is the open top basket, 2 the housing and 3 the drive shaft of the centri joint, 24 is the fastening part of the drive shaft, 4 is an annular cover hood with a handle part 4a, which is on an upwardly facing edge 23 of the bottom of the The central test basket rests. The washed out nitro cellulose can fall down through an axial opening in the bottom of the centrifuge housing 2, which opening is delimited by a wall 2a of the housing; the bead 12 of the basket 1 covers the gap between the part 24 and the wall 2a.
The basket is connected to a number of cellulose nitriding apparatus (not shown) by means of a number of pipes 11 and ducts 5 connected to them; only two of these channels, 5 and 5 ', are shown in FIG. 6 is the flanged outlet port of the centrifuge housing 2, the bottom of which is slightly inclined towards the outlet port, and 7 is a flanged drain pipe which the outlet port 6 with. the Zwehveghahn shown in Fig. 3 and 4 connects.
8 is a lid of the centrifuge housing and 9 is a shaft sleeve; 10 is a hook on wel chem the handle 4a of the cover 4 is hung when emptying the washed-out nitrocellulose from the centrifuge. 13 is the floor of the building and 14 and 1-1a. are parts of a flushing water feed line, which comes from the main faucet shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
The bent upper part 14a is screwed by flanges to another, downwardly bent part 18, which projects directly through the centrifuge housing into the basket and is screwed to the centrifuge housing on its attachment 1.5. The lower end of the part 18 of the line is connected by a Y-pipe 19 with two distribution pipes 20 and 20 '(one of which is broken away in Figure 1), to which the two flushing water distributors 21 and 21' are attached, of which only one is shown in FIG.
The two distributors 21, 21 'are arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of rotation of the centrifuge. 17 is. a compressed air line and 7 6 a compressed air non-return valve, to which the inlet 22 of the compressed air connects, which opens into part 14a at the highest point of the water feed line.
In Figs. 3 and 4, the parts 6, 7, 1.3, 14 and 17 have the same meaning as in Fig.1 and 2. The two-way valve consists of the housing 25, the cover plate 26, the valve body 27, the stop ring 28 and the slide rod 32 screwed into the slide body 27. The outlet manifold 29 has an eye 29a for receiving a stuffing sleeve 33 for the slide rod 32.
From the exhaust manifold 29, a connecting pipe 30 does not lead to. shown sump for the rinse water. 31 is. a connecting pipe to an unillustrated container for the waste acid. 34 is the compression sleeve of the stuffing sleeve 33. 35, 35 'and 35 "are support rods, 36 is a collecting vessel and 37 is the drainage pipe of the same. 38 is a drive rod attached to the slide rod 32 and 39 is the lower end of the slide rod 32 with the part connecting the piston rod 58. The piston rod 58 passes through the stuffing box 40 inserted in a plate 41 which is fastened on a cylinder 42.
43 is a valve mounted on a support 61 Ven and 43a the valve rod of the same. 45 is the self-closing main valve for the flushing water supply and 46 is the main feed line for the flushing water. 47 and 47 'are angle brackets for an air cylinder 53 and the water valve support 48; they are attached to bearing 44 on rod 35 '. 49 is another valve and 49a its valve rod. 50 and 50a are arms which are attached to the rod 51 of the piston of the compressed air cylinder 53, not shown in the drawing.
As soon as the piston rod 51 hits a valve rod 59, this opens the main water valve 45. 52 is a self-closing valve which is actuated when the arm 50a hits its valve rod 62. 54 is the piston of the cylinder 42, and 55 and 55 a are branches of a Drucklei device, which are connected to the cylinder 42 and the valve 43 Ven. The branches 56 and 56a of a pressure line are connected to the cylinder 53 and the valve 49, via which the latter the branch 56a of the pressure line is connected to the upper end of the cylinder 42 via the line 56b.
The line 55a is connected via the valve 43 to the line 55b, which continues to the cylinder 53. The piston rod 51 cooperating with the valve rod 59 of the flushing water valve 45 goes through the stuffing box 57. The valve 49 is attached to a support 60.
With the setting of the two-way tap in Figure 3 and 4, the waste acid can flow into the waste acid container; the path to the flushing water sump is blocked.
Compressed air is used to control the valves. The compressed air now flows from a compressed air source, not shown, through the line 55 into the cylinder 42, whereby the piston 54 is driven upwards;
the slide rod 32 connected to the piston rod 58 by the part 39 moves the slide 27 upwards to the end of its stroke, whereby the connection between the pipeline 7 and the waste acid container is interrupted and the connection between the line 7 and the lines 29 and 30 is established becomes. At the end of this upward stroke, the actuating rod 38 fastened to the slide rod 32 meets the valve rod <RTI
ID = "0004.0038"> 43a and thereby opens the valve 43 so that the compressed air can flow from the line 55a to the line 55b and then into the outer end of the cylinder 53. The piston rod 51 of this cylinder set in motion as a result meets the valve rod 59 and consequently opens the flushing water valve 45. As a result, the flushing water can flow from the inflow water line 46 into the parts 14, 14a.
and 18 of the rinsing water feed line flow and thus through the Y-pipe and through the distributor tubes 20 and 20 'from the Schlit zen of the distributors 21 and 21' and in this way wash out the nitrocellulose in the rapidly rotating centrifuge basket. During this time, the centrifuge is best spinning at full speed, and the water pressure must be sufficient to allow water about 10 to 20 times the weight of dry nitrocellulose to flow into the centrifuge in about one to two minutes.
After the nitrocellulose has been thoroughly rinsed, pressure fluid is admitted through the guide trough 56 into the inner end of the compressed air cylinder 53 to drive the piston rod 51 back, the pressure line 55 being connected to the outlet at the same time. The flushing water valve 45 now closes itself actively and in this way interrupts the flushing water supply to the centrifuge.
The fixed on the piston rod 51 rigid arm 50a meets the valve rod 62 of the self-closing valve 52 before the piston rod reaches the end of its hiib. As a result, compressed air can flow through the line 17 (Fig.l) and the check valve 16 and thus through the inlet 22, in this way all water still present between the inlet 22 and the manifolds 21 and 21 'in the still rotating To displace centrifuge basket,
from where this remaining flushing water flows into lines 6 and 7 and to the flushing water sump. When the piston rod 51 has reached the end of its stroke, the rigid arm 50 fastened to it meets the valve rod 49a and opens the slide valve 49, whereby the compressed air from the line 56a into the Lei device 56h and so in the upper part of the pressure air cylinder 42 can flow in,
whereby the slide valve rod 32 with the slide 2 7 is moved downwards in order to restore the connection with the waste acid line 31 and to interrupt the connection with the drainage lines 29 and 30 for the rinse water. The operator then turns off the centrifuge, opens the cover 8 and the cover hood 4 and hangs the latter on the hook 10 by means of the handle part 4a. Then the ring-shaped cake of moist nitro cellulose is conveyed out through the opening bordered by the edge 23, and then the cover 4 and the lid 8 are closed again.
A new charge of nitrocellulose is then poured into the centrifuge basket through one of the lines 11, the latter being at a standstill or still running at a relatively slow rate. The centrifuge basket is then brought to high speed and when the waste acid has stopped draining through line 31, the above-described process is repeated. Instead of compressed air, pressurized water could also be used to control the valves.
When using cotton fibers as the starting product. the tendency to form a tangled nitrided product; Such a product cannot be treated well in a centrifuge driven from above of the type described, but is better suited for treatment in a centrifuge driven from below, from which the washed-out nitrocellulose can be removed from above. Any type of cotton can be nitrided directly in a centrifuge, but in this case it is again more advantageous, considering the weight of the nitrate batch, to use a centrifuge driven from below.
A suitable form of a centrifuge driven from below, in which the entire nitration process, the separation of the waste acid and the washing can be carried out, is shown in FIG. However, this centrifuge can also be used if the nitration is carried out outside the centrifuge; it is more suitable than the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 for washing out such types of nitrocellulose, which can only be conveyed through narrow openings with difficulty, such as. B. ni trated cotton fibers.
In Fig. 5 64 is the floor of the building, 65 is a frame, 66 is a GE inclined support plate of the frame and 70 is the outer housing of the centrifuge. 67 is the shaft of the centrifuge, 68 the pulley attached to it and 69 the drive belt. 71 is the perforated wall of the centrifuge basket and 72 is the hub of the centrifuge basket attached to the shaft 67. 73 is a retaining nut and 90 is a removable cover, 74 is the shaft bearing and 75 are two cover halves which are shaped in this way. are that they cover the entire upper circular opening of the housing 70 and also the hood 90 in the closed state, as indicated by dashed lines.
The open position of the two lid halves is drawn in full. 76 is a pull-up Sprühwasservverteilrohr, which branches into two diametrically opposite nozzles 77, which are arranged in the lowest position of the tube 76 within the basket so that they do not touch the basket hub 72 and the hood 90. These nozzles have holes which are arranged in such a way that the - # water flows out in the form of veils which, hanging together, extend over the entire height of the rotating nitrocellulose cake 78,
which they meet at diametrically opposed points.
79 is a frame with a sleeve 80, in which the downwardly protruding part of the flushing water pipe 81 with the connected distribution pipe 76 can be raised and lowered by means of a cable 85, which is guided to a counterweight via a guide roller, not shown, so that the nozzles 77 can be lowered or pulled out of the centrifuge. Stops 82 and 83 serve to limit the movement of the pipe 81. A hose connection 84 is used to connect the pipe 81 to the flushing water feed line 14 shown in FIG.
91 is a compressed air hose which forms a continuation of the line 17 shown in FIG. 4, and 92 is a non-return air valve which controls the inflow of compressed air into an inlet 93 which opens into the rinsing water line 81. The solid lines show the lower of the two limit positions of the moving parts 76, 77, 81, 82, 83, 84, 91, 92-Lind 93.
The upper of the two limit positions of the parts 76 and 77 is indicated by dashed lines. 86 is the outlet for the waste acid and the rinsing water and 87 is a tap which is connected to the line 7 provided with a flange and shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. 88 is an acid inflow pipe and 89 is a smoke exhaust pipe.
If the nitration of the cellulose is to be carried out in the centrifuge, the valve 87 is turned so that the outlet 86 of the line 7 is closed and the tube 81 is in the uppermost position, so that the distribution tube and the nozzles are completely outside the Centrifuge are held. A part of the titration acid filling, which has previously been heated to a certain temperature, is let into the centrifuge through line 88, and the basket of the centrifuge is slowly set in rotation, if it has not been set before the acid has entered has been started.
The cellulose is then poured into the slowly rotating centrifuge basket, while the rest of the necessary nitrating acid flows in at the same time. The movable halves 75 of the lid are then folded down and nitration allowed to proceed for the required amount of time while the basket is still slowly rotating.
Then the valve 8 i is opened so that the excess acid can flow into the line 7, which during all these processes is connected to the waste acid container by the two-way valve shown in FIG. The basket is now run at full speed in order to eject as much waste acid as possible, and finally a nitrocellulose cake 78 forms on the basket wall.
Then the lid 75 of the centrifuge is opened, and by lowering the pipe res 81 to the lower limit of its stroke, the nozzles 77 are inserted into the basket. The control mechanism shown in Fig. 3 and 4 is now operated by the operator in the manner already described,
-to establish the connection between the line 7 and the container for flushing water and to switch on the flushing water supply. The rinsing water passing through the tubes 84 and 81 into the distributor tube 76 is sprayed out through the nozzles 77 so that the rapidly rotating titrocellulose cake is washed out.
The operator then operates the mechanism shown in Fig. 3 and 4 for interrupting the flushing water supply, the displacement of the flushing water residue and ornamental restoration of the connection of the raw res 7 with the waste acid container. The drive to the centrifuge is also interrupted. The displacement of the rinse water residue is brought about by the admission of compressed air through the compressed air line 17 and its continuation 91, the check valve 92 and the inlet 93.
In spite of the interruption of the drive, the centrifuge continues to run, so that the rinse water residue is ejected from the centrifuge. The work process is also such that the restoration of the connection between the line 7 and the waste acid container is not established before the drainage of the remaining water through the line 7 has stopped.
Then, by pulling on the cable 85, the tube 81 is brought into the uppermost position and the distribution tube 76 with the nozzles 77 is lifted out of the centrifuge as soon as the basket has come to a standstill. the washed nitrocellulose loin is taken out by hand.
The method according to the invention not only offers the advantage in terms of safety that a surge or ignition can occur less easily than with the previously used. used methods to wash out the nitrocellulose after centrifuging off the acid waste, but also offers the advantage that the nitrocellulose to be removed from the centrifuge by the operator is already washed out, so that the person is not forced to be near Nitrozellu to be kept loose, which is in a state in which it is most prone to decomposition and is worst to treat because of the smoke.
The washing out process is therefore more pleasant and less dangerous for the operator.
To ensure that the described process is carried out correctly, the following rules should preferably be observed: 1. The acid remaining in the nitrocellulose should not exceed 1 percent by weight before treatment with rinsing water.
2. A centrifuge with a basket, the diameter of which is 1., 22 m, should have a running speed of at least 880 to 990 t / in before the rinsing water is fed.
3. The ratio of rinse water to nitro cellulose should be 10: 1 (weight ratio) for high-nitrogen gun cotton (13.4 nitrogen), spread over 30 seconds. In other words: on z. B. 454 g of nitrocellulose should 4.546 kg of rinsing water be supplied during half a minute.
