Fork gauge.
The object of the present invention is a fork gauge, characterized in that the calibrating faces of the fork are formed by hard metal plates fixed in a removable manner.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view thereof and FIG. 2 a partial section on a larger scale along the line IIII of FIG. 1.
1 designates one of the forks of a double fork limit caliber. The calibrating faces of this fork are formed by plates 2 of very wear-resistant metal, for example of an alloy commonly known as "hard metal"; these plates 2 are removably fixed against the inner faces of the fork 1; this fixing is carried out by means of the following device: a bracket 3 overlaps with its lateral branches the end of the branch of the fork; the ends of the lateral branches of the caliper form claws 4, the interior surfaces of which are chamfered and cooperate with the chamfered edges 5 of the plate 2.
The transparent, dirty branch of the caliper 3 is pierced in its center with a tapped hole through which a tightening screw 6 passes, the point of which comes to rest in a conical centering hole 7 made in the outer face of the branch of the fork opposite to the plate 2. The latter is thus strongly applied against the inner face of the branch of the fork.
The limit gauge is thus rendered practically indestructible and allows very large series of parts to be checked to the end. The calibrating plates being fixed in a removable way, it suffices to have a single set of plates with their fixing brackets to equip all the calipers-forks of width square to the width of the calipers, whatever the limits of these. calibers.
CLAIM:
Fork gauge, characterized in that the calibrating faces of the fork consist of hard metal plates fixed in a removable manner.
SUB-CLAIMS:
1. Fork gauge according to claim, characterized in that each hard metal plate is fixed by means of a bracket, the side branches of which, overlapping the end of the fork branch, present claws cooperating with the edges of the plate and the transverse branch of which is crossed by a clamping screw bearing against the outer wall of the branch of the fork.
2. Fork gauge according to claim and sub-claim 1, characterized in that the coo parts, peranzies of the claws of the caliper and of the hard metal plate are chamfered.
3. Fork gauge according to claim and sub-claim 1, characterized in that the tip of the clamping screw bears in a conical centering hole.
