Fig. 3 ist die Draufsicht auf den Schwenkarm.
Fig. 4 und 5 zeigen Einzelheiten in zwei verschiedenen Arbeitsstellungen.
Additional patent to main patent no. 217002. Device for controlling the tonearm in automatic gramophones. The invention relates to a device for controlling the tonearm in automatic gramophones according to the patent claim of the main patent, i.e. a device
by which the tonearm is first pivoted inwards over the edge of the record and then lowered onto the record 'and which device has a feeler arm which can be pivoted into and out of contact with the edge of the record and its diameter is adjusted accordingly,
and after the tonearm has been lowered onto the edge of the record, it actuates organs which exert horizontal pressure on the tonearm in order to guide its needle into the slot.
The subject of the invention is a device for controlling the tonearm in automatic gramophones of the type described above, the tonearm being arranged on the upper edge of a vertical sleeve in such a way that
that it can be pivoted by rotating the sleeve and that the rotation of the sleeve is effected by means of a pivot arm which is connected to the sleeve in such a way that it can be rotated to a limited extent relative to the latter.
In the drawing, for example, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically.
Fig. 1 is a side view, and Fig. 2 is a plan view of the entire device.
Fig. 3 is the top view of the swing arm.
4 and 5 show details in two different working positions.
The tonearm 1 carrying the needle box is attached to the outer end of the support arm 4 so as to be pivotable in a vertical plane about the horizontal pin 3, which in turn is firmly connected at its inner end to a rotatable sleeve 5, with the lower end of which the pivot arm 17 , which has the pins 15 and 16 on its underside, as explained later,
is connected in such a way that it can be rotated to a limited extent relative to the sleeve. A vertically adjustable rod 6 passes through the sleeve 5, which engages with its upper end with a plate over a screw on the tonearm 1, so that this, by threatening the sleeve 5, in a horizontal plane, and by lifting and lowering the rod 6, can be pivoted about the pin 3 in a vertical plane.
The lowering of the outer end of the tonearm is effected by its own weight, while the lifting is effected by a lever 7 which rotates around a horizontal pivot pin 8.
The end 9 of this lever 7 is fork-shaped and engages with the fork prongs on two sides of the rod 6 above a round support plate 10 which is attached to the lower end of the rod 6.
The connection of lever 7 and rod; 6 is such that the rod 6 can be adjusted in the vertical direction by pivoting the lever 7 around the pin 8, but rotation of this rod 6 is impossible. The end of the lever 7 opposite the end 9 carries a roller 11 which cooperates with a cam disc 12, which has a recess 12 a. The rotation of the sleeve 5, which causes a horizontal swing of the tonearm in,
causes one or the other sense, is by engaging the bent end 13 of the angle lever 14 on one or the other of the two pins 15, 16 acts be. Angle lever 14 is about a pivot pin 18 rotatable.
Its short, approximately horizontally extending arm interacts with its outer end with a cam disk 19, which rotates simultaneously with the cam disk 12 and has a depression 19a.
To control the inward movement of the tonearm, a control device is seen before. This has a locking arm 21 sitting on the axle 24 with a roller 22 which can come into contact with the edge of the record.
At the lower end of the axis 24, the pivot arm 23 is fixed, which carries the roller 27 at its end. 25 is a cam barrel with which the swing arm 23 is engaged by means of the roller 27. 26 is a section of this drum. The drum sits on the axis of the disks 19 and 12 and is driven together with the latter.
On the axis 24 of the steering lever 29 is also fixed, which rotates with the locking arm 21 and on which a coil spring 28 engages, which is attached at its other end to the frame. The steering lever 29 is provided with pins 30, 31, which beaw with the stop 36 of the pivot arm 17. 35 of the lever 33 rotatably mounted at 32 on the underside of the pivot arm 17 and held in the rest position by a spring 34 can come into engagement.
These pins 30 and 31 limit in the; In the main patent manner, the downward movement of the tonearm 1, namely the pin 30 is effective when playing larger (300 mm) plates and the pin 31 when playing smaller (250 mm) plates. If other plates are to be played, an additional tenon must be provided for each additional plate size. The spring 34 engages on the one hand on one arm of the lever 33 and on the other hand on the arm 17.
On the sleeve 5, a plate 40 is arranged, which serves as a support for the pivot arm 17 and which is firmly connected to the sleeve 5 ver. The connection of the sleeve 5 to the swivel arm 17 is made by a vertical pin 41 which is attached to a steering lever 42. This latter in turn sits firmly on the rod 6, which, as mentioned above, engages with its upper end on the sound arm 1 and lifts it.
Both the swivel arm 17 and the holding plate 40 are provided with matching openings 43, in which the pin 41 causing the coupling of the sleeve 5 and the swivel arm is axially displaceable, in such a way that
that with the tonearm raised. 1 the pin 41 is lowered together with the rod 6 and fills the openings of the swivel arm 17 and the plate 40.
A free relative lateral movement of these parts, which are now in the position according to FIG. 4, is prevented. When lowering the tonearm 1, a lateral recess 44 of the pin 41 occurs in the area of the openings 43 (see Fig. 5), whereby a relative movement between the pivot arm 17 and plate 40 according to the depth of the recess 44 is made possible.
This relative movement allows the tonearm to follow the insertion groove with the needle, and this movement of the tonearm takes place against the force of a weak spring 45, which is attached at one end to the steering lever 17 and at its other end to the plate 40.
The mode of operation of the device is as follows: After the end of the game of a record, the record change is initiated, whereby the tone arm is brought into the extreme position according to FIG. The pin 30 on the steering lever 29, which moves with the arm 21, is when the plate on the turntable is a 30-cm plate, in front of and opposite the stop 36. In this position of the tonearm is the angle lever 14 in contact with the raised part of the cam disk 19.
But since the cam rotates when changing the plate, the A countersink 19a comes into a position in which the role on the horizontal arm of the lever can enter the same. The spring 20 acting on the lever 14 now rotates this lever around its pivot pin 18, the bent end 13 of which acts on the pin 16 of the pivot arm 17 and rotates this and thus also the tone arm inward until the needle is directly above the full edge part the plate is located.
In this position of the tonearm, the stop 36 on the swivel arm 17 comes to rest against the pin 30, whereby a further inward movement of the tonearm by the angle lever 14 is prevented. The tone arm can now pivot downwards in order to bring the needle into contact with the unmarked edge part of the record.
During this movement, the recess 44 comes to lie opposite the openings 43 of the stop plate 40 and of the arm 17. When this position has been set, the sleeve 5 and the sound can move relative to the pivot arm 17 as a result of the guidance of the needle in the insertion groove, since the .Schwenkarm 17 sits loosely on the sleeve 5 and-because this pivot lever through the stops 30, 36 is prevented from moving.
The extent of movement of the sleeve 5 and the tonearm with respect to the arm 17 is determined by the. The depth of the cutout 44 in the pin 41 is determined. This relative rotation is sufficient to enable the needle to be guided through the insertion groove into the first clearance groove.
After the end of the game, the tonearm is lifted off the record surface, and this movement causes the pin 41 to return to the position shown in FIG. 4, whereupon the tonearm can be swung outwardly away from the record as described above.
