Terfahren for the production of a light material from wood chips. The invention relates to a Ver drive for the production of a light material from wood chips, such. B. Hobelspä NEN, sawdust, turnings, milling chips or the like.
It has already been proposed to produce materials from wood waste in such a way that the same wet shredded, the pulp can settle on permeable substrates and the matted wet molded fiber is freed by heating with or without squeezing the water. In these known methods, the material is formed by felting the fibers with one another.
Additional binders of any type can also be added, which can be used to improve or improve certain material properties. certain special properties are to be achieved.
It is also known to bind non-fiberized wood waste, such as wood chips of various kinds, by binding agents to form a material in the form of panels or the like. With this method, one saves the need to defiber, which makes the manufacturing process significantly simpler. Since there is no felting due to the lack of a fiber structure in the material, the use of binders is absolutely necessary in order to achieve a connection between the individual parts of the material association.
A wide variety of substances have been proposed as binders in the known processes, such as. B. natural and artificial glues, synthetic resins, inorganic binders such as plaster, cement, Ma gnesialaugen and the like. However, all binders proposed so far have considerable disadvantages. Those on an organic basis, such as B. the glues and synthetic resins, increase the price of the end products significantly and thus make the process uneconomical, the inorganic rule products result in end products that are too heavy.
The use of all previous binders has the consequence that the base material has lost some or all of its woody character, such as light weight, good processability and high thermal insulation capacity, after being converted into the end product. The binding agents used to date for gluing non-fiberized wood chips are therefore in no way satisfactory.
It has now been found that a very advantageous lightweight material is obtained from wood chips, in which the material character of the base material, which adheres to the wood, is largely preserved if a species-specific substance is used as a binding agent.
The method for producing a light material from wood chips, such as sawdust, Hobelspä nen, turnings, milling chips or the like, is characterized in that these chips, without any further defibration of the same to a mattable product, aqueous fiber slime, such. B. wood fiber slime or paper fiber slime, sets as a binder, the mass forms and then dries.
Appropriately, the production of the fibers used as a binder is made by grinding with preferably squeezing action of the fibers in question, eg. B. between smooth stones in a Dutchman. All possible cellulose-containing products can be used as the starting material for the slimes, such as B. the wood itself, the most diverse pulps, but also. Reed and all other basic materials which contain cellulose in more or less pure form.
With the fiber slime, other substances can also be brought into the end product. Here is z. B. thought of fire retardant salts, such as ammonium phosphate, which are dissolved in the fiber slime or mixed with it. The material is expediently produced in such a way that the wood chips, which are sorted according to grain size, are used with. mixed with the fiber slime, the well-mixed mass is poured into any shape and allowed to dry in it.
After drying, the resulting product has a density of less than 500 kilograms. It can be easily sawed and otherwise processed. By the amount of added fiber slime that z. B. is applied in an amount of. @ To about 20% of the chip dry weight a, the properties of the products obtained can still vary within certain limits, with z. B. with increasing 3l: close to fiber slime the hardness is increased.
The cheap material obtained is suitable for numerous applications. It has good insulating properties, so it can be applied as a filler material. are applied. It is also suitable as a middle layer zurrt gluing of surface finishing conditions such. B. for veneering wood or similar Schieliten. It is easy to glue and can also be further refined by painting and impregnation.
With the method according to the invention, a method has been found which allows it to convert wood chips that occur in the smallest of settings, i.e. in small businesses, back into usable materials in the cheapest and simplest way in terms of apparatus. The new 'material makes it possible that practically no wood needs to be lost, but rather all waste, e.g. B. in the form of plates as core layers and the like can be used.
It is obvious that the method according to the invention is of enormous economic importance in the current shortage of wood.
