Device for fixing a workpiece on a machine tool. The present invention relates to a positive fixing device -d'une workpiece, on a machine tool, comprising a cleat and an expandable clamping sleeve serving to immobilize .the workpiece relative to the cleat.
The device according to the invention is characterized -in that it comprises a set of tubular spacers -of different lengths and intended to be placed and clamped each, as desired, between a bearing surface of the cleat and a flat face of the workpiece, to fix the exact position of said workpiece in the axial direction,
relative to the cleat.
The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example, a form of execution of the device according to the invention, seen in axial section.
In the drawing, 1 represents part of the frame of a machine tool such as a lathe, a milling machine or a grinding machine for example. The nose of the spindle of the machine tool has been indicated at 2, on which is screwed a stack; bucket 3 provided with radial holes used for its locking or unlocking, and only one of which is visible at 4. This The cleat is extended by a cone 5 supporting a workpiece G, via an expandable clamping sleeve 7.
This sleeve -is internally conical, externally cylindrical and for view -de longitudinal slots 8, as is known. A clamping screw 9 having a collar 10 pressing against the end of the sleeve 7, comes axially into the cone 5.
The front face of the cleat 3 has a; series of staves 11, 12, 13. These staves are, of circular shape, -concentric -and constitute also cylindrical and concentric gradations, as seen in the drawing. The device described also includes a set of tubular spacers,
die different lengths. This set of spacers includes; several series.
@different diameters. In each series there is a range of spacers of different lengths. There is shown at, 14 a large diameter spacer, bearing on the bearing surface II by one of its ends, while a flat face of the workpiece 6 bears against the other end of this spacer. It is clear that if we were dealing with,
a workpiece of smaller dimensions, one could use a spacer of smaller diameter which would cooperate not with the bearing 11, but with 1 \? or 13, for example.
The length of each spacer being perfectly calibrated, the position @of the face 15 of the workpiece is perfectly determined. In addition, thanks to the presence of the spacer 14, the part 6 can be conveniently worked, even if it: is thin.
It is clear that the fixing of the cleat on the nose of the spindle could take place other than by screwing, for example by means of a cone.
In: a simplified embodiment, the cleat could have only one span instead of having several, as shown in the drawing. In this case, the set of spacers would be limited to a series of tubes all having the same diameter but different from each other in their length.
