Shock tool. The subject of the invention is an impact tool, in particular pin punch or punch, comprising a cylindrical rod, characterized in that the cylindrical rod of the tool is fitted with a handle which, by one of its ends , adapts exactly and without play to the dia = meter of the rod to form a bearing in this right, the sleeve of the rod being able to slide relative to each other, so that at the start of work, the protrusion of the end of the rod out of the sleeve is reduced to a minimum value, for which the aforesaid bearing is located at a point such that it divides the rod, on either side of it, into two lengths whose flame resistances are equivalent.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, the impact tool according to the invention in a few embodiments.
Fig. 1 is an exterior view and FIG. 2 a view in longitudinal section of an embodiment with adjustment by screw thread; fig. 3 is a sectional view of an embodiment with adjustment by helical ramp; fig. 4 is a sectional view of a freely sliding embodiment, with the inter position of a return spring; fig. 5 is a sectional view of one embodiment in which the sliding of the sleeve is braked by a friction device; fig. 6 is a sectional view showing the possible adaptation of the invention to a pin punch of the usual type; fig. 7 shows an alternative embodiment of FIG. 2.
In the example of FIG. 1, the pin punch comprises, beyond the cylindrical rod a, a part, moreover, large diameter b threaded, and the head e on which s' operates the parsing. A sleeve d puts it on and has a point e at its end adapted exactly to the diameter of the rod a to form
bearing or guide for said rod; the sleeve d has, in addition to an upper recess f which fits without play to the head c of the pin punch and the tip or guided e, a tapped part g which is screwed onto the thread b of the pin punch. It is thus possible to adjust, during work, the protrusion length of the rod a outside the guide e, starting with a protrusion reduced to a minimum value at the time when the greatest efforts are exerted.
This minimum protrusion length is, by construction, such that the part e forming a bearing then divides the rod a, on either side of said bearing, into two lengths whose buckling resistances are equivalent.
In the embodiment of the, fig. 7, the thread is formed on the sleeve of which is screwed into a tapping made inside the hollow head c 'of the rod a, which in a way constitutes a reversal of means with respect to the arrangement of the fig. 1 and 2.
For a faster adjustment, the screw thread can be, as shown in fie. 3. replaced by a helical ramp b ', formed on part of the rod a.
In the example of FIG. 4, the pin punch ac can slide freely in the sleeve d, a spring h, being disposed in said sleeve to tend to reduce the protrusion of the rod a so that the apparatus is always in position for the greatest efforts and that the increase in the protrusion of the rod is done automatically under the impact of the hammer.
The shank b "of the pin punch presentie, in this exemplary embodiment, a diameter a little larger than the head that disassembly is made possible by a plug j forming a stop for the pin punch in the maximum depression position.
The pin punch can still be allowed to slide freely in the sleeve and con attempt to brake their relative movement by suitable means, such as a device. friction carried either by the shank b "of the pin punch, as in the example of Fig. 5, or by the sleeve d, as in the example of Fig. 6.
In the first case (fig. 5), the friction device may be of a type similar to the so-called pump systems of desk lamps, with braided metal sheath k surrounding the shaft b ", said sheath having two glues l qu 'a spring m tends to move away from one another, thus stretching the sheath and pressing it tightly against the barrel b "to slow its movement. This braking ceases as soon as an effort is made to move by hand, in one direction or the other, the sleeve along the cbasse-pin, the sheath k widening and releasing the barrel b ".
Finally, the invention can be applied without difficulty to a pin punch of the usual type by adapting, for example, as shown in FIG. 6, on the pin punch, a sleeve d provided with a friction device p such as a rubber washer. or other, being able to slide on the knurled fry n of the pin-cliass, said man chon ending in a guide e as in the previous examples.
With the niancbon provided by the invention, the protrusion of the rod a out of the guide e is in any case adjusted so as to be minimum when starting to use the tool and to be progressively increased as the tool is started. and as you work.
The tool according to the invention makes the operation of removing the pins extremely easy at the same time as it avoids the twisting and breaking of the rod (the pin punches of small size: diameter. These tools are thus rendered sufficiently robust so that we can even consider using it as a punch, for perforating sheet metals or other materials, by impact with a hammer.
