Boiler. The present invention relates to a boiler, characterized by two eylindrical hearths, with horizontal axis, each surmounted by a fuel hopper, these hearths supply both the same set of heating elements arranged between them, these various elements. independent being assembled together by simple gravity and being arranged on a base in profiled irons delimiting a central box for the evacuation of fumes and two side boxes, one for each of the hearths,
by which they are supplied with both primary air, under the grid, and strongly heated secondary air, above said grid, through ducts opening into a common transverse box into which is blown air.
The secondary air distribution can be ensured in each home by a removable and orientable blowing ramp.
The grid of each hearth is preferably inclined and each of them can be such as to make it possible, when using a single hearth, to obtain approximately two thirds of the total power.
Each fireplace can be surmounted by a sealed hopper from which the fuel flows by gravity through a channel of adjustable section.
In a particular embodiment, the heating elements, grouped. by two, three, four or more, on - sections of neck readers - cold water return - and hot water outlet, are in pressed sheet metal and their shape is such that they benefit as much as possible from the heat of radiation of the hearths, that they have a gas path as long as possible and that they create turbulence on the path of said .gas to ensure, at best, the exchanges.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the boiler forming the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a front view of this boiler; Fig. 2 is a plan view; Fig. 3 and 4 are two sectional elevation views, respectively along 3-3 and 4-4 of the. fig. 2; Fig. 5 shows a flow manifold in the case of a steam boiler.
As can be seen more particularly in FIG. 4, the entire boiler is: supported by a base made up of profiled irons 1 delimiting two side boxes 2 and a central box 3.
Each lateral box 2 serves for the passage of two ducts 4 and 5 receiving air blown by a fan 6 from a common transverse box 7 located at the front. The hearths 8 rest on these boxes 2 and, in each of them, the primary air is blown under the grille 9 by the duct 4 and above the grille by the duct 5 extending into the hearth by a ramp 10 adjustable and removable, and recessed only at one of its ends so that it can expand freely.
Distributors 11, controlled by buttons 11 ', located on the front face of the box 7, allow, for each of said hotplates, the individual adjustment of the air admitted.
Each hearth has water circulation and its grid, which is inclined, is formed of cast iron bars supported by chests 12, also with water circulation.
A hopper 13, sealed by a plug 14, surmounts each of said hearths and the fuel flows freely, by simple gravity, on the grid 9, through an opening 15 made in the side and the passage section of which is adjustable. by a register 16, which makes it possible to vary the height of the natural scree slope on the grid. A damper or shutter 17 makes it possible to completely stop the descent of the fuel. The slides of these shutters are provided with a shutter 18.
Heating elements 19 also rest directly on the hearths by simple gravity and are arranged between these hearths; these elements elements are mounted in groups of two, three or four (four in the case of the drawing) on sections of collectors 20 'connected to the cold water return 20 and to the water outlet hot 21. They are made of pressed sheet metal and their assembly is ensured by flanges and bolts 22.
The hot gases enter between them through a large orifice 23 formed on the side of each hearth and they thus benefit to the maximum, due to their location, from the radiant heat. The gases have, between these elements, a path as long as possible and are put in turbulence to promote exchanges. They circulate in the direction of the arrows in solid lines, therefore against the current with respect to the water (direction of the arrows in dotted lines) and suddenly relax on their exit into a chamber 24 from which they have access to the central box. 3 leading them to the fireplace.
Buffers 25 allow easy re-mounting of the heating elements after removal of a panel 26 of the removable jacket.
As indicated above, the hearths 8 have water circulation, the return of water there being effected at 27 from the cold water collector 20 and the departure of hot water taking place at 28 in the manifold 21 fitted with a starting pipe 29.
Each hearth has a dirt removal door 30 and an ash removal door 31. The central smoke evacuation box 3 is extended through the transverse box 7 by a shuttering provided with a sweeping door 32.
In a variant shown partially in FIG. 5 and constituted by a steam boiler, it is the starting manifold 21 which, due to its increase in section at 33, itself constitutes a steam balloon.
The boiler shown and described is of simple construction. It is obtained by juxtaposing its various independent elements (base, hearths, heating elements, hoppers) assembled together by simple gravity. It is, moreover, of high efficiency, its cylindrical double hearth allowing, under a reduced volume, to have a large grate surface and a large combustion volume.
On the other hand, its secondary air ramps, orientable and easily removable, are very strongly heated and the heating elements, having a very large surface area, work by radiation and by convection over a long smoke path.
In addition, this boiler makes it possible, when using only one of its fireplaces, to obtain up to 65% of the total power, resulting in great flexibility of operation at half-speed.
Finally, for a given power, its size is reduced and its height is such that loading the hoppers with fuel and sweeping the elements are very easy.
