Le pourtour du disque 27 présente seize encoches 29, une encoche 30 plus pro fonde que les encoches 29 et trois encoches 31 plus profondes que l'encoche 30 correspon dant respectivement aux seize mois de trente jours, au mois de février bissextile et aux trois mois de février de vingt-huit jours d'un cycle quadriennal du calendrier Julien ou gré gorien; les secteurs 32 et 33 séparant deux encoches consécutives correspondent aux mois de trente-et-un jours du même cycle quadrien nal;
Le bras 44 est conformé et disposé de façon à agir, à chaque impulsion qu'il reçoit, sur l'une des trente-et-une dents 24 du disque 23 et faire ainsi avancer ce disque d'un pas;
Le mécanisme à prépaiement destiné à donner au levier 41 l'impulsion quotidienne nécessaire à l'avancement -du calendrier est représenté dans la fig. 3. 50 désigne le canal d'introduction d'une pièce de monnaie; 51 est un levier de man#uvre que l'on doit ac tionner pour provoquer l'encaissement de la pièce de monnaie;
ce levier 51 est pivoté sur un tourillon 52 fixé à la platine postérieure 20 et est soumis à l'action d'un ressort de rappel 53 -destiné à la maintenir dans sa po sition de repos représentée en traits pleins, position dans - laquelle sa poignée 54 bute contre le tube d'espacement 22 engagé sur le boulon 21 unissant les angles supérieurs gau ches des platines.55 désigne le canal condui sant la pièce ide monnaie 57 poussée par le levier 51 à l'ouverture 56 de la tirelire (non représentée);
Bien entendu, on pourrait prévoir plu sieurs nervures 65.
Mechanical perpetual calendar. The object of the present invention is a mechanical perpetual calendar comprising -devices indicating the date of the month, the name of the day, of the week, the name of the month and the year, actuated.
by a daily external impulse. This calender is characterized in that it comprises a disc with thirty-one teeth, a drum with seven lugs, a drum with twelve lugs, a lever advancing by one thickness at each external impulse the disc at thirty. -and-one teeth and the drum with seven lugs, the disc with thirty-one teeth advancing the drum with twelve lugs by one step at each turn,
-means acting on the drive lever so that at the first external impulse following the end of a month -of less than thirty-one days, said lever drags the disc at thirty- and-one teeth -of two, three or four steps at a time, depending on whether the past month is -30, twenty-nine or twenty-eight days.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the calendar which is the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a front elevation; fig. 2 is a front elevation, with the dial and the front plate removed to show the mechanism.
Fig. 3 is another front elevation with the anterior plate and part of the mechanism removed.
Fig. 4 is a plan view.
Fig. 5 is a partial side elevation (right).
_ Fig. 6 is another partial side elevation (left).
Fig. 7 shows a detail in plan, and FIG. 8 -shows the operation of part of the mechanism.
The mechanical perpetual calendar, shown by way of example, is combined with a piggy bank of which only the prepayment device is shown in FIG. 3 and will be described later. It is the operation of the checkout lever of this device which provides the daily external impulse necessary to activate the calendar.
It goes without saying, however, that the daily external impulse could be given by any means, for example by a control device such as a lever or push button independent of any prepayment device or automatically by a clock movement. mechanically or electrically wound gerie.
The fi-. 1 shows the exterior appearance of the calendar mounted in a cabinet 10 on a base 11. The dial 12 carries a date scale -from one to thirty-one and is pierced .de three apertures showing the name of the day of the week, the name of the month and the year. The date of the month is indicated by a hand in the center 13. The names of the days of the week are inscribed on the periphery of a drum 14 and the names of the months on the periphery of a drum 15.
The two drums 14 and 15 are mounted idle on a common axis 16 (fig. 2), horizontal and perpendicular to the axis 17 carrying the needle 13. The vintage figures are inscribed on the periphery of four drums 18 d 'a counter of known construction.
The mechanism. of the calendar is arranged between a front plate 19 carrying the dial 12 and a rear plate 20 assembled by four bolts 21 on which are mounted spacer tubes 22. This mechanism comprises a disc 23 provided on its front face with a crown of thirty-one teeth 24, and, on the one hand, inside this crown, of a single tooth 25, on the other hand, at its periphery, of another single tooth than 26 The teeth 24, 25 and 26 are formed by tabs which are stamped out of the disc 23 and directed towards the front.
The disc 23 is integral with the axis 17 carrying the date hand 13, axis pivoted in the center of the plates 19 and 20. Between the rear plate 20 and the disc 23 with thirty-one teeth and applied freely against the face posterior of the latter is disposed a second disc 27 concentric with the first, provided with a crown of forty-eight: teeth 28 projecting on its anterior face around the periphery of the disc 23 and exceeding the anterior face of the latter.
The periphery of the disc 27 has sixteen notches 29, a notch 30 deeper than the notches 29 and three notches 31 deeper than the notch 30 corresponding respectively to the sixteen thirty-day months, to the leap month of February and to the three months February of twenty-eight days of a four-year cycle of the Julian or Gregorian calendar; the sectors 32 and 33 separating two consecutive notches correspond to the thirty-one day months of the same quadrennial cycle;
sectors 33, twice as long as sectors 32, correspond to eight periods of two consecutive months of thirty-one days. The disc 27 is mounted idle on the axis 17 of the disc 23.
Between the disc 23 and the front plate 19 are arranged the two drums 14 and 15 mounted idle on the common axis 16 supported at its two ends by supports 35 (fig. 5 and 6), integral with the front plate 1.9. The drum 14 on which the names of the days of the week are inscribed has, on that of its bases which is directed outwards, a crown of seven pins 34 and is maintained under the action of a spring 36 acting on two consecutive lugs 34.
The drum 15, on which the names of the months are inscribed, has, on that of its bases which is directed outwards, a crown of twelve lugs 37 and is subjected to the action of a jumper spring 38 acting on two consecutive pins 37. These lugs- are arranged and shaped so as to cooperate, on the one hand, with the tooth 26 of the disc 23 to rotate the drum 15 by a pitch equal to one twelfth of a turn â, each revolution of the disc 23 and, d 'on the other hand, with the teeth 28 of the disc 27 to rotate the latter by a pitch equal to one forty-eighth of a turn at each pitch of the drum 15.
On the same basis of the drum 15 which carries the lugs 37 is further arranged a transverse rib 65, the role of which will be explained below. On its opposite base. the drum 15 carries two small cleats 39 intended to drive the first gear 40 of the counter with four rollers 18 bearing the digits of the years.
The drive member of the disc 23 is constituted by a lever 41 pivoted on one of the bolts 21 uniting the two plates and solid with a feeler 42 intended to cooperate by a tongue 42a -with the periphery -of the disc. with notches 27 against which it tends to be hand held by a spring 43. The lever 41 has, in its middle, two elastic arms 44 and 45.
The arm 44 is shaped and arranged so as to act, at each pulse that it receives, on one of the thirty-one teeth 24 of the disc 23 and thus advance this disc by one step;
it also has a curved tongue 46 which, with each push of the lever 41, is placed in front of another of the teeth 24 to prevent the disc 23 from taking more than one step at a time except when the surge following the end of months of less than thirty-one days. The second arm 45 is shaped and arranged so as to act on the single tooth 25 of the disc 23 when this tooth comes within range.
The free end of the lever 41 carries an attached elastic strip 47 intended to cooperate, at each impulse received by the lever, with one of the seven lugs 34 of the drum 14 to make this drum turn by one step. curved watch 48 is arranged so as to come to be placed in front of another of the lugs 34 to prevent the drum 14 from rotating by more than one step at each pulse. The end of the lever 41 also carries a guide arm 49, the end of which rests against the rear face of the anterior plate 19.
The prepayment mechanism intended to give the lever 41 the daily impulse necessary for the advancement of the calendar is shown in FIG. 3. 50 designates the channel for introducing a coin; 51 is an operating lever that must be actuated to cause the coin to be cashed;
this lever 51 is pivoted on a journal 52 fixed to the rear plate 20 and is subjected to the action of a return spring 53 intended to maintain it in its rest position shown in solid lines, position in which its handle 54 abuts against the spacer tube 22 engaged on the bolt 21 uniting the upper left angles of the plates. 55 designates the channel leading the coin 57 pushed by the lever 51 to the opening 56 of the piggy bank (not shown);
the rolling wall of the upper end of the channel 55 is formed by a part 58 of the feeler 42 which the coin 57 pushes outwards in its upward movement before escaping through the opening 56. 59 is a guiding part -du lever 51 and 60 a stop limiting the pivoting of said lever.
The coin 59 further serves to drive the coin in the channel 55 and on the contrary to maintain in the channel 50 any coin introduced when the lever 51 is not in the rest position. 61 designates a channel for returning the coin which is used when the latter does not have the required caliber to actuate the feeler 42, the too small coin falling when the lever 51 is released.
A flap, not shown, and the opening of which is controlled by the feeler 42, blocks the opening 56 as long as the cutter is not actuated by the coin of the desired caliber; this gauge is determined by the position of the introduction channel 50 with respect to part 58 of the feeler; this position is adjustable, several holes 62 being made in the plate 20 for the fixing screws of the channel 50.
The lever 63 shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 are used to lock the cash box of the piggy bank. This lever is maintained by a spring 64 in contact with the outer base of the drum 15.
At each turn -of this drum, that is to say once a year, the nervuro, of stop 65 provided on this base of the drum, rotates the lever 63 and -unlocks- automatically the body, of the tire read . Of course, more ribs 65 could be provided.
The operation of the mechanical calendar described and represented is as follows: After the daily introduction of a coin of the preset caliber into the channel, 50, the lever 51 is pressed which pivots and raises the coin 57 in channel 55 towards opening 56 of the cash register.
Towards the end of its upward movement, the part 57 pushes the part 58 of the feeler 42 outwards; , the latter is integral with the driving lever @ 41 which pivots up and down against the action of its return spring 43. In this downward movement of the lever 41, the blade 47 which is located at its free end meets one of the lugs 34 of the drum 14 and turns the latter by one step, causing the name of the following day to appear at the corresponding aperture of the dial 12.
At the same time, the elastic arm 44 of the lever 41 acts on one of the thirty-one teeth 24 of the disc 23, causing this disc and the needle 13 which is attached to it to rotate by one step, that is to say say one thirty-first of a turn. Hand 13 thus marks the date of the month on the dial. At the end of each month, tooth 25 of disc 23 arrives at. range of the second elastic arm 45 of the lever 41 and it is then this arm which intervenes to rotate the disc 23 by one step if the past month has thirty-one days, by two steps if it has any, thirty , three steps if he has twenty-nine and four steps if he has twenty-eight.
The length of the angular path of the arm 45 which determines the number of steps of the disc 23 at the end of each month is determined by the rest position of this lever, a position determined in turn by the positron of the feeler 42 whose tongue 42a rests on the periphery of the notched disc 27. During the months of thirty-one days, this tongue 42a rests on one of the sectors 32 or 33 (position A. Of the lever 41 in FIG. 8), and the angular path taken by the arm 45 by driving the tooth 25 is equivalent to one thirty-first of a turn of the disc 23, the lever 41 coming to occupy the position A 'of the fi at the end of its travel. 8.
During the: months of twenty-eight days, the tongue 42a rests at the bottom of one of the three notches 31 (position B of the lever 41 in Fig. 8) and the angular path that the arm 45 takes while driving the tooth 25 is then equivalent to, four thirty-first of a revolution of the disc 23, the lever 41 occupying at the end of the drive stroke the --position B 'of the fi. 8.
During each end-of-month impulse from lever 41, tooth 26 of disc 23 acts on one of the twelve lugs 37 of drum 15 and rotates this drum by one step, causing the name of the following month to appear at the counter. . corresponding to the dial 12. The lug 37 follows acts on one of the forty-eight teeth 28 of the notched disc 27 and turns the latter by a forty-eighth of a turn, so that when the feeler 42 is returned by the spring 43 in its rest position, its tongue 42a rests on the peripheral sector following that on which it rests during the past month.
With each revolution of the month drum 15, the drive tabs 39 engage the gear 40 of the unit roll 18 of the year counter.
To set the date on the calendar, it suffices to put in place from the outside a removable lever 66 (fig. 4) which moves the tab 42a away from the periphery of the disc 27 and to turn the hand 13 and the disc 23 of the quan- tths using a key engaged on the square 67 of the axis 17 which goes beyond the rear plate 20.
One could, of course, combine the perpetual mechanical calendar with a clock. In this case, the operating lever 51 could also be used to wind up the clock motor mechanism daily. It would also be possible to eliminate the prepayment device and, in this case, the daily pulse could be supplied to the drive lever 41 by a device actuated automatically by a clock, for example by an electric timer triggered daily at a time. fixed time.
