Le dessin annexé montre, schématique ment et à titre d'exemples, deux formes d'exécution -du générateur-brûleur faisant l'objet de l'invention. La fi-. 1 est une vue en coupe, suivant la ligne I-I de la fig. 2, d'une première forme d'exécution La fi-. 2 en est une vue en plan, certaine; parties étant supprimées pour plus de clarté du dessin;

Generator-burner, reverse draft for wood products. There is already a host of reverse draft generators for wood products, in particular for gasification of wood. Certain manufacturers have proposed generators fitted with nozzles and forming a front-end that can be adapted to existing boilers, with a view to replacing coal heating, for example, by wood heating.
None of these generator-burners has. given satisfaction, given the great difficulty of maintaining a fireplace continuously releasing a sufficient quantity of gas, and the high temperatures necessary for the complete combustion of the hydrocarbons. Indeed, temperatures of 500 to 1000 are necessary to generate a cracking process of these hydrocarbons and thus allow their total combustion.
The object of the present invention is a reverse draft generator-burner for wood products, comprising a hearth provided with primary air inlets, surmounted by a hopper containing a reserve of fuel, a grid through which pass ignited gases which go to a burner fitted with secondary air inlets.
This generator-burner eliminates the drawbacks mentioned by the fact that the hopper has a larger section at its base than at its upper part, this hopper opening through its large section on the upper side of the hearth, the latter having, in vertical section, the general shape:
of a triangle whose second side is limited by a steep inclined wall, while on the third is limited by the. grid which retains the fuel while allowing the ignited gases which pass through its bars to pass through an overheated chamber onto which the burner opens, adjustment devices being provided to adjust the primary and secondary air admissions according to the desired heating power.
The appended drawing shows, schematically and by way of example, two embodiments of the generator-burner forming the subject of the invention. The fi-. 1 is a sectional view, taken along the line I-I of FIG. 2, of a first embodiment The fi-. 2 is a certain plan view; parts being deleted for clarity of the drawing;
The fïb. 3 is a sectional view, taken on line III-III of the figure. ?, of a second embodiment: FIG. 4 is a plan view.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the generator-burner is designed as a preheater that can be adapted to any boiler intended for the production of hot water or steam (central heaters, boilers, ovens, cooking ovens, melting oven, etc.).
It comprises a frustoconical hopper 1 of circular horizontal section, the small or opening of which is closed by a loading door 14, while it opens through its larger section on the upper side of a hearth 15.
This last is circular in horizontal section and presents, seen in vertical section (fig. 1.), the general shape of a trian: -le. The second side of this triangle is limited by a ra diane wall: inclined 12, while the third side is limited by the, shine 2.
Near the upper part of the fireplace are arranged openings 8 for the admission of primary air. These openings are supplied with air by a blower (not shown), via a pipe 6 opening into a distribution chamber. 4. A pipe 7 connects the upper space of the hopper to the distribution chamber 4. A valve 5, with an adjustable position, makes it possible to adjust the quantity of primary air admitted to the hearth.
The whole hopper and the hearth are surrounded by water chambers 3 connected to a heating circuit by a hot water outlet pipe 18, and, through the shine bars 2 which are hollow, by a cold water supply line 17.
The, brille retains the fuel contained in the hopper @ -t the hearth, while letting pass between s_- :; ash, and Ires gases produced by the distillation of this fuel.

It is noted that by simply adjusting the position of the valve 5, it is possible to vary the. quantity of air injected, although the blower is still providing its nominal flow.
Thanks to the flared shape at the bottom of the. In this case, the load does not run the risk of remaining hooked, which frequently happens in known generator-burners, especially when the load consists of wood.
In addition, the air sent through line 7 into the upper space of the. The hopper carburizes the accumulated gases and pushes them back to the grate, which helps to improve the efficiency of the generator. This avoids the danger of explosion when opening the loading door.
The grid circulates water and helps to reheat the water in the heating circuit.
Finally, all the walls of the hopper and the hearth are surrounded by the water chambers 3, so that the calories released by the distillation of the fuel are recovered as far as possible. Only the walls 12 of the bottom of the hearth are for example made of refractory material which accumulates the heat produced by combustion and returns it by radiation to the hearth, which allows the formation of a sufficiently hot hearth to obtain complete gasification of the fuel.
The inclination of this wall 12 directs the fuel onto the grid. In addition, this coating protects the metal walls against attack by produced gases.
It is obvious that the hopper and the hearth could have, in horizontal section, a rectangular section or of elongated shape; however, by giving them a circular section, the construction is greatly simplified.
As indicated in the drawing, the. grid is inclined and curved with its upper part approaching the vertical. Thanks to this arrangement, the carbonization zone is located in the lower zone of the grate and along the wall 12. The upper zone of the grate remains free for the passage of the gases produced by the combustion. In addition, voids 28 are formed at the rear of the upper collecting tube 2a, through which the gases produced little wind. escape freely.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, we find the same constructive elements as in the embodiment described above. Parts having the same functions are designated by the same reference numbers. However, in this embodiment, the generator-burner is provided for heating or air conditioning.
For this purpose, the burner 11 opens into a combustion chamber 26, and the burnt gases escape through two exhaust ducts 27, the outer walls of which are licked by a downward flow of air flowing against it. -current in a jacket 20 surrounding the two -d'evacuation ducts 27. It is obvious that any number of exhaust ducts can be provided.
The air current is supplied by a fan comprising a bladed wheel 22 driven in rotation by an electric motor 23, but any other blower can be provided. The outside air is sucked in through an aspiration orifice 24 and discharged into a channel 21 which communicates with the jacket 20 by means of a reheating chamber 19.
The air delivered through the jacket 20 is reheated in contact with the walls of the discharge channels 27 and enters the chambers 3 which surround the hopper and the hearth and which, in this case, are traversed by air. and not by water. Finally, the heated air is discharged through a pipe 25.
Only the bars of the grid, subjected to a high temperature, are traversed by a current. of water, the circulation water being supplied through line 17 and hot water discharged through the. driving 18.
The walls of the. hopper located above the upper part of the hearth being cooled only by the air circulating in the shelves 3, it is necessary to provide a lining 29 of bricks or other refractory material extending up to '' above the primary air intake openings,
this in order to protect said walls against attack by the distillation gases.
In with a view to making it possible to adjust the air flow rate of each of the pipes 7 and 9 independently of one another, they can be mu ned by regulating members.
We could also, in the. embodiment shown in fig. 3 and 4, in order to facilitate cleaning and sweeping of the channels 27, extend the chamber 26 downwards in the axis of the channels 27, so as to make it open into the ashtray 16. The. operation of the device is not affected by this; because the flaming gases crossing. the grid necessarily seek to follow the shortest path (the one offering the least resistance) to reach the channels 27. As a result, they pass through the burner 11 and not through the ashtray 16 to reach the. room 26.
This is all the more so since air under pressure is injected through the orifices 10, which creates a current of air through the burner 11 towards the. room 26 which creates a. intake of air and gas from the ashtray and the grate to the burner 11.
