Description

Process for the production of polyvinyl chloride which is soluble in hot Diogan but insoluble in cold. It has been found that by adding vinyl crotonate in the polymerization of vinyl chloride, a polymer can be obtained which is insoluble in cold dioxane but soluble in hot dioxane.

This is achieved by using only a fraction of the vinyl cronon breath, which under otherwise identical polymerization conditions results in polyvinylchloride, which is insoluble in boiling Diogan. In most polymerization conditions, the goal is achieved with amounts of vinyl crotonate that are a few per thousand, calculated on the vinyl chloride used.

The technical importance of this way of working is. in the fact that it leads to a polyvinyl chloride that is still relatively easy to process, but is nevertheless highly resistant to almost all technically possible organic liquids and at the same time is superior to polyvinyl chloride that can be produced without vinyl crotonate in terms of its mechanical properties .

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the production of polyvinylehlori @ d which is soluble in hot dioxane but insoluble in cold, but is characterized in that the polymerization is allowed to proceed in the presence of such a small amount of vinylcrotonate which is only a fraction of the amount below otherwise the same polymerization conditions as the amount leading to polyvinyl chloride which is insoluble in boiling Diogan. SUBCLAIM: Method according to claim, characterized in that the vinyl crotonate is used in amounts of a few per thousand, calculated on the vinyl chloride used.
