Device on machine tools, in particular on lathes, for setting and maintaining the cutting speed when the working diameter changes. The invention relates to a device on machine tools, in particular on lathes, for setting and maintaining the cutting speed when the working diameter changes as a result of movements of the cross slide carrying the tool, in which device a gearbox that is continuously variable by a controllable auxiliary motor is used to drive the work shaft of the machine becomes.
The invention is that to switch on the auxiliary motor. A switch-on relay is provided which switches on the auxiliary motor in the direction of rotation of the control to a lower speed of the working shaft above a predetermined relay excitation current strength and in the opposite direction of rotation below this excitation current strength and which receives its excitation current from a power generator driven by the working shaft via a control resistor,
which is changed by the movement of the cross slide and a setting device for the cutting speed proportionally to the set cutting speed and inversely proportional to the turning diameter, whereby the excitation current strength effective at the switch-on relay is changed in the opposite sense.
A rheostat suitable for making the necessary changes in resistance can consist of resistance wires arranged parallel to one another and conductively connected to one another at one end, whereby it is expediently influenced by the cross slide and the adjustment device for the cutting speed in such a way that it is influenced by one of the moved both parts in the longitudinal direction of the wires and a contact connected to the other part is moved perpendicular to the longitudinal direction on it.
In the drawing, three Ausfüh approximate forms of the invention are shown, namely: Fig. 1 shows a circuit diagram with a schematic representation of a suitable rule resistor with its setting devices, Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a part of a lathe with a modified version of this Variable resistor and FIG. 3a shows a further embodiment in partial view and FIG. 3b shows the outline of the associated rotatable resistance disk.
In Fig. 1, 1 represents the work spindle of the machine, e.g. B. the lathe, whose speed is to be controlled so that the cutting speed can be set to any value for any working diameter and is automatically maintained at this value when the working diameter changes.
A power generator is generated from the work spindle 1 \? driven whose voltage is proportional to the speed of the work spindle. A switch-on relay 3 is connected to the power generator. A control resistor 4 in series with relay 3 is switched on in its circuit.
It has a flat, electrically insulating plate 6 which can be moved between guides 5 and which is connected to the manual adjustment device i for the cutting speed and, by means of this device, to a predetermined one. The cutting speed can be set at a fixed division.
The relay resistance is small in relation to the minimum value of the control resistance.
In the plate 6 are in the direction of displacement of the device 7. extending, geometrically parallel to one another, straight resistance wires 9 are embedded, which are connected to one another at one end by a connection 1 (1. The line to the switch-on relay 3 is connected to this connection.
A contact bar 11, which is attached to the cross slide 12 of the machine carrying the tool and is displaced by the machine so that it switches more resistance wires 9 in parallel as the working diameter increases, lies on the resistance wires, slidable perpendicular to them, so that the resistance is reduced . The line from the power generator is connected to the contact bar 11. So that the resistance can be adjusted independently of the Querschlit ten movement, z. B.
when the turning tool is clamped for a longer or shorter period of time, the contact rail can be fixed in various effective lengths on the cross slide by means of a clamping screw 13.
.The contacts of the switch-on relay 3 are in the circuit of an auxiliary motor 14, which acts on the control device of a continuously variable Ge gearbox 15, which is operated by a drive motor 34 drives the work spindle 1.
The mode of operation of the device is as follows: If the work spindle 1 runs at a speed that corresponds to the set cutting speed, then does the power generator? such a clamping voltage that such a predetermined excitation current strength prevails in the circuit of the switch-on relay 3 at which the contact d of the relay 3 under the action of a spring e is in the center position shown.
If the kit diameter is now smaller, then the contact bar 11 is pulled upwards a little from the control resistor 4, whereby one or more resistance wires 9 are switched off, so the resistance is increased.
Since the voltage of the power generator 2 remains the same, the current drops and the switch-on relay 3 switches on the auxiliary motor 14 in the sense of increasing the speed of the continuously variable transmission 15 (short circuit b-c). This increase in speed compensates for the reduction in cutting speed that occurred as a result of the reduction in the working diameter.
because it causes the power generator to run so much higher that the resulting increase in voltage compensates for the drop in amperage so that the switch-on relay receives its normal current again and its part d returns to the center position and switches off the motor 14: the control process: is ended. In the same sense, a setting carried out by hand on the device 7 to a greater cutting speed, through which the resistance is also increased.
Conversely, increasing the working diameter or setting a lower value for the cutting speed reduces the control resistance in such a way that, with the speed initially remaining the same:
the excitation current of the relay increases and the relay 3 stops the auxiliary motor 14 (short circuit a-c) until the output shaft 1 receives a speed reduced so much via the gearbox 15 that the cutting speed. the predetermined or set value is obtained. The voltage reduction of the power generator is such that the excitation current: the relay 3 goes back to its normal value and: the relay switches the motor 14 off. The control process is thus ended.
In FIG. 2, the variable resistor is shown modified in such a way that the plate 6 is bent together to form a rotatably mounted cylinder 16. The setting scale for the cutting speed is now as a circle division 17 firmly verbun with the cylinder 16 and plays in front of a fixed pointer 18. The switch-on relay 3 acts appropriately via an amplifier relay on the auxiliary motor. The device is otherwise constructed in the same way as that shown in FIG.
Another design and arrangement of the variable resistor is shown in FIG. 3. Here per unit length the same resistance be seated resistance wires as open concentric rings 20 connected to one another by a rod on a circular disk 21. The disk 21 is: rotatable and is rotated by a friction wheel 22 which is seated on a splined shaft 23 which is driven by the displacements of the cross slide 1, 2 via a rack 24 and a gear 25.
From the groove shaft 23 is a screw through spur gears 26 and 27. 28 driven, on which a traveling nut 29 runs, which: includes the friction wheel 22 and changes its distance from the axis of rotation of the disk 21 in direct proportion to the working diameter.
On the disk 21, a contact 30 is displaceable in the direction of the diameter and sits as a traveling nut on a screw spindle 31 which: can be rotated by a handwheel 32 of the cutting speed setting device. Due to its size, the contact 30 can only touch one of the rings 20 at the same time. The line to the switch-on relay is connected to the rod 19 and the line to the power generator to the contact 30 is ruled out. The set cutting speed can be read from a fixed graduation 33.
The parts of the device, not shown, are of the same design as the corresponding ones in FIG. 1.
The device works as follows: When the working diameter is reduced (displacement in direction I), the disk 21 is rotated by the drive 22 to 25 in the sense that: the section of the resistance ring that is just switched on, which is limited by the contact 30 and the rod 19 20 gets bigger. As a result: the maintenance relay 3 receives a current of lower strength:
and; switches on the auxiliary motor 14 in the sense of increasing the speed. The increase in speed causes the voltage to increase at the generator 2, which also increases the current strength effective at the switch-on relay 3 in such a way that the motor 14 is switched off by the relay 3 and the control process is thus ended. By :
the displacement of the cross slide 12 to a smaller working diameter, the friction wheel 22 has also been set to a smaller effective radius, so that the rotations of the disk 21 always occur with each working diameter to such an extent that the changes in resistance are: Diameter changes are inversely proportional. The same control process is triggered by setting a higher cutting speed on the handwheel 32, as this also sets a greater resistance.
Conversely, an increase in the working diameter or setting a lower cutting speed causes a reduction in the counter that is switched on, which results in switching on the switch-on relay in the sense of reducing the speed.
The devices described are characterized by the fact that the changes in the scope respectively. Three variables influencing the cutting speed, namely the speed of the work spindle, the working diameter and the setting of the cutting speed, can be used for adjustment without being transformed by purely mechanical devices.
Because the change in speed causes a proportional change in the voltage of the power generator, the changes in the working diameter are taken into account by inversely proportional changes in the resistance in the relay circuit, and with the setting of the cutting speed, the length of the individual resistance wires is set in proportion to this speed.
Therefore, between the variable speed gear or the working spindle and the power generator, as well as between the cross support and the sliding contact, a fixed transmission ratio can be used for the resistance wires and a] i n for the cutting speed setting device Division can be provided. Only a movable electrical line is required between the cross support and the headstock.
The device can therefore have a very simple structure, which makes it possible both to attach it retrospectively without major changes to existing machines and to install it organically in new machines with only minor changes.
