Process for the preparation of 1-amino-6-oxynaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid. So far, no technical processes have become known to nitrate acylated oxynaphthalene monosulfonic acids and to produce the aminooxynaphthalene sulfonic acids from the nitro compounds.
It has been shown that industrially by nitration and subsequent reduction from 1-acyloxynaphthalene-4- or -5-sulfonic acids and 2-acyloxynaphthalene-6-, -7- and -8-sulfonic acids only unusable Products can be obtained, be it because of the quality or because of the insufficient yield of the resulting compounds.
Surprisingly, it has now been found that by nitration and subsequent reduction from the acyl derivatives of 2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid, a mixture of 1-amino-6-oxynaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid and 1-amino-7-oxynaphthalene-5- sulfonic acid can be obtained in very good yield and in very pure form.
It is advantageous to use alkyl carbonic acid esters of 2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid (carbomethoxy, carboetho, xy, carbo-isoamyloxy derivatives, etc.), which are particularly suitable, for nitration.
because they are from the aqueous solution of the reaction mixtures of halocarbonic acid alkyl esters and. 2-Oxynaphthalin-4-sulfonic acid can be isolated in very high yield by salting out.
The nitration proceeds very smoothly and clearly, so that in the end a mixture of aminooxynaphthalene sulfonic acids which crystallize well can be obtained in a yield of up to 80%. The sodium salts can be separated practically quantitatively thanks to their different solubilities in water.
The proof of constitution for the two previously unknown aminooxynaphthalenesulfonic acids is as follows: The sodium salt of one of the 2 new amino-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acids, which is sparingly soluble in water, provides the first by reducing the sulfonic acid group -Amino-6-oxynaphthalene of F. 185, N-acetyl compound F. 215.

serve. The corresponding oxynaphtostyril can easily be prepared from 1-amino-6-oxy naphthalene-8-sulfonic acid by the usual method.
The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of 1-amino-6-oxynaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid, characterized in that an asylum derivative of 29-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid is nitrated onto the nitro-2-acyloxynaphthalene-4 obtained - the sulfonic acid mixture allows a reducing agent to act and represents the sodium salts, during which processing the acyl group ab- n ,
C g o is split and from the mixture of the sodium salts d; is so insoluble sodium salt of 1-amino-li-oxynaplithalin-8-sulfonic acid is separated by crystallization.
Example: 177 kg of 2-carbomethoxy-oxynaplitlialin-4-sulphonic acid, 82%, (prepared from 2-oxy-naplitlialiri-1-sulphonic acid, which is advantageously used in the form of the solution obtained in the illustration, and methyl chloroate finite 9 (> jo yield) are used as the sodium salt at 0-3 "in 1000 kg sulfuric acid-11Ionohydrat-,
and within a few mouths at the same temperature 66.15 lkg of mixed acid (50'HN 0 .; 100 ö) allowed to run in. One stirs. 12 hours, then let the nitizer run on ice, heated to 90 ". Limescale with calcium carbonate, filtered: washes the precipitate well and evaporates the filtrate to a volume of about 800 Liter one.
The sodium salt is then made with soda and filtered off from the precipitated lime.
After one with. Hydrochloric acid has made lacquer acid, the solution of the sodium salts is allowed to run in the heat with thorough stirring in a slurry of 150 kg of iron filings in 50 liters of water and 30 liters of 85% acetic acid. When the reduction is complete, the dissolved iron is mixed with soda. -e- falls and the whole thing cleared.
By working up the nitration, the reduction and the neutralization, the asylum group is split off. Finally, the filtrate is acidified to the Congo with hydrochloric acid. Even in the heat, the mixture of the new aminona.phtholsulfonic acids crystallizes out. After cooling down, it is filtered.
The press cakes contain approx. 95-97 kg amino-2-oxynaplit.halin-4-sulfonsäuregemiseli 1011ö, 3101.231. In the mother liquor you can still with nitrite about 12 kg 100% compound. calculated on the mole. 239 , but nothing uniform can be isolated.
If, on the other hand, the nitro-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid mixture is to be isolated, the sodium adze solution is evaporated to a volume of 400 liters and made strongly lacquer wall with acetic acid. On cooling, the mixture of nitro-2-oxynaphthalir-4-sulfonic acids crystallizes out in a yield of 85% in yellow, thick needles, which can be reduced as indicated above.
230 kg of amino-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid mixture (Mol. 239) are dissolved in a litmus-alkaline manner in 2250 liters of water at 85 with approximately 115 kg of 32% sodium hydroxide solution and allowed to cool without being dissolved. The sparingly soluble sodium salt of 1-amino-6-oxyriaplithalin-8-sulfonic acid crystallizes out in thick needles when it is hot. Yield approx. 120 kg 100% mol. 239.
The sodium salt of the new compound is a grayish, colorless crystal powder, the aqueous solutions of which hardly fluoresce. The 1-amino-6-oxynaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid is intended to be used for the preparation of dyes and dye intermediates.
Instead of the 2-carboalkoxy-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acids, other acyl derivatives, such as the acetyl, ssenzoy 1, toluenesulfonyl compounds, etc., can also be used for the nitration.
