Fig. 1 zeigt hierfür ein Aus- führungsbeispiel.
Zahnkränze 33 der zum Hin- und Herdrehen der Pumpenkolben dienenden drehbaren Hül sen 32 ein. Bei Änderungen der Drehge schwindigkeit der Welle 1 erfährt die Kegelfläche 72 samt ihrem Führungsrohr 76 und dem Gewinde 77 eine axiale Verschie bung im einen oder andern Sinne;
Swash plate drive for driving fuel pumps for internal combustion engines. In the case of pumps for liquid fuels, which are supposed to deliver this fuel under high pressure (up to several hundred atmospheres) to the injection point of a racing engine, it is known
.to drive the pump piston by means of a swash plate driven by a rotating shaft.
Such a swashplate does not perform a rotating movement, but only a peculiarly oscillating movement (e.g. comparable to the movement of a circular surface, the edge of which rolls on the edge of an equally large, fixed surface in such a way that both surfaces are always the same I> chen include acute angles with each other).
In tiles known pump drives ben the connection between the swash plate and the pump piston takes place with the help of connecting rods, which include on the swash plate and seated on the pump piston ball heads that pump piston and swash plate are inevitably connected to each other. A disadvantage of this connection is that when a pump piston seizes up in its cylinder, any part of the engine is violently destroyed.
According to the invention, for transmission between the swash plate and the pump piston, a pressure rod is provided which has spherical surfaces at both ends and which supports each other on the corresponding spherical opposing surfaces of the swash plate and the pump piston, which creates a connection that only acts in one direction of movement while to maintain the frictional connection between the swivel plate,
Pressure rod and pump piston in the other direction of movement a spring that constantly presses these three parts against one another is provided. Such a compression rod is designed a lot more and is therefore also considerably easier and cheaper to manufacture than a connecting rod with ball joint heads, its weight is also much lower, its inertia forces are therefore relatively small; As a result of these low inertia forces, a relatively weak spring is sufficient to maintain the force connection.
A particular advantage of this gear design is that the terminal connection is automatically interrupted when a pump piston becomes stuck in its cylinder, so that in this case no damage whatsoever occurs to the engine.
The spring (return spring) that maintains the frictional connection can - as is customary in fuel pumps with a cam drive - be designed as a compression spring, which is supported on the one hand against an immovable abutment and on the other hand against the pump piston, so that the latter is constantly against the pressure rod and against it press the swash plate.
Here this return spring is compressed during the pressure stroke of the pump piston, while it expands again during the suction stroke.
One way to avoid the return spring, which is alternately tensioned and relaxed again. consists of arranging a tension spring in parallel to the force transmission element, which is only positively connected between the swash plate and the pump piston, which acts on the swash plate on the one hand and on the pump piston on the other and has such a high preload that it permanently maintains the connection of forces.
This spring only needs to follow the small side movements of the force-transmitting member, while its length remains unchanged, so that it is not exposed to fluctuations in load, which greatly reduces the fatigue strength.
The operational reliability of such a spring is therefore higher than that of a return spring. With this type of drive, it is also easy to regulate the pumps to a specific flow rate (or to flow rates that are the same among themselves for several individual pumps driven by a swashplate).
For this purpose, either the force-transmitting intermediate member can be designed so that its length can be changed, or its point of application on the swash plate or on the piston can be displaced relative to one of these parts.
It is advantageous in the latter case to make the point of attack on the swash plate displaceable because it is the easiest to make accessible, so that readjustment is possible without the actual pump having to be taken apart or disconnected from its drive .
The drawing shows exemplary embodiments of the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a pump driving swash plate engine according to the inven tion in central longitudinal section; 2 and 3 show, in longitudinal section and in elevation, a force-transmitting member which is variable in its length; Fig. 4 shows a central longitudinal section of the swash plate and part of the pump as well as a special design of the spring causing the power shock.
Corresponding parts are identified identically in the various figures. 1, the pump drive shaft 1 is mounted in the bearings 2 and 3, one of which is arranged in the bottom 4 and the other in the cover 5 of a housing 6.
Inside the housing, an inclined pin 8 is firmly connected to the shaft, on which a swash plate 11 is mounted by means of the ball bearing 10, which can absorb both transverse and longitudinal forces.
The swash plate carries a bevel gear ring 12, which is in engagement with an identical gear ring 13, which is fixed on the housing 6, and which prevents the swash plate from rotating.
On the cover 5 of the housing 6, several fuel injection pumps 15 are arranged in a circle around the pump drive shaft 1 so that the axes of the pump piston are parallel to the axis of the drive shaft.
In a manner known per se, the injection pump consists essentially of the actual pump cylinder 16 with suction opening 17 and return flow opening 18, of the pump piston 20 with a recess 21 in its side surface, one edge 22 of which marks the beginning of the conveyance and which:
other edge 23, which controls the end of the promotion, from the suction chamber 25, to which the fuel is fed through the connection stub 26, and from the pressure valve 27, to which the high pressure line 28 leading to the injection point is also connected. The delivery rate is changed in a known manner by rotating the pump piston 20.
For this purpose, the piston carries a radially projecting arm '30 at its outer end, which engages in the slot 31 of a sleeve 32 which is rotatably mounted in the pump housing 15 and has a ring gear 33, so that when this ring gear rotates, the pump piston joins the rotation.
Between tween each pump piston 20 and the swash plate 11 is a pin-like member (pressure rod) 35 switched on, which bezw with kuge-like ends against corresponding hollow spherical recesses of a widening 36 des9 pump piston. one: in the swash plate firmly seated insert body 37 is applied.
To bring about a constant frictional connection between the swash plate and the pump piston acts on the widening 36 this pump piston is a compression spring 38 supported against the sleeve 32 in the sense of the outward movement of the penkolbens "so that the pressure rod 35 is constantly preloaded on its abutments 36 and 37 and the swashplate movement is transmitted to the pump piston without play.
The recesses in the abutments 36 and 37 are expediently so deep that the ends of the pressure rod continue to protrude into these recesses even if the pump piston should have stuck in the cylinder, whereby it then always assumes the inner dead center position . It is then not possible for the power transmission link to fall out of the abutments and cause damage elsewhere on the machine. Both promote the.
The high forces exerted by the fuel on the pump piston 20 are transmitted through the pressure rods 35 to the swash plate 11, from there via the bearing 10 to the angular journal 8 and via a roller bearing 40 which transmits longitudinal forces and which is supported against the bearing 2, to the housing 6 and further on its carrier (machine housing or similar) 41 transferred.
The pump drive shaft 1 is driven, for example, via a gear 42, but any other drive elements can also be provided, and the pump drive shaft can be formed directly from an extension of the crankshaft (for two-stroke engines).
In fuel injection pumps, it is often desirable to be able to adjust the pump so that a certain angular position of the pump piston corresponds to a certain amount of För, respectively. so that with several individual pumps these pumps under isioh, exactly, the same amount. Such a one,
With the subject of the invention, the pump delivery can be set by changing the length of the pressure rod 35.
An exemplary embodiment of this possibility is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. Here the pressure rod is divided into two parts 35 'and 35 "which can be screwed into one another; a lock nut 45 is also provided, which secures the mutual position of the two pressure rod parts. One of these parts and the lock nut can be provided with micrometer-like graduations in such a way that the respective longitudinal setting or the change in length made can be easily read.
Such a setting makes it necessary to remove the individual pump to be set. This dismantling is saved if the abutment of the pressure rod seated on the swash plate is arranged to be adjustable in the direction of the swash plate axle. Such a configuration is shown in the right half of FIG. 1.
The ZViderla "er 37 'has a thread extension 47, which is screwable in a corresponding nut thread of the swash plate 11 and whose respective setting can be secured by means of a counter nut 48.
In order to be able to carry out this adjustment without removing the swash plate, openings 50 are provided in the enclosure wall of the housing 6, which are generally closed by covers 51.
In the device according to FIG. 4, the same pressure rod 35 as in the example according to FIG. 1 is switched on between the pump piston 20 and the swash plate 11. To maintain the contact between the swash plate. The pressure rod and the pump piston are between the pump piston and the shaft:
Washer a tension spring 63 connected in parallel to the compression rod is arranged. For this purpose, the widening 64 of the pump piston is provided with a thread onto which one spring end is screwed and which is secured in its position by a lock nut 65.
The other end of the spring engages over the roughly spherical rear surface of the abutment 6 7 seated on the swash plate and is secured in its position by a pressure piece 68 that is pressed against the spring by a hat 69 sitting on the threaded pin 47. The spring 63 is installed with such a strong initial tension.
that the inertia forces and friction normally effective during the outward stroke of the pump piston cannot cancel out the force leakage of the pump drive. This arrangement has the advantage that the spring does not experience any change in length, but only needs to follow the generally relatively small angular movements of the swash plate.
The stress on the spring is therefore very small in contrast to the stress on a conventional return spring (spring 38 in FIG. 1); the operational reliability of the spring is significantly increased by.
The drive of the pump piston by means of pressure rods having spherical ends on both sides allows any rotation of the pump piston about its longitudinal axis without any problems. This fact favors the use of the known flow rate regulation by turning the pump piston.
1 shows an exemplary embodiment for this. The free end of the Pum penantriebswelle 1 carries a roller ball regulator designed as a centrifugal regulator. A driver 71 driving the rolling-ball flyweights 70 is connected to the shaft 1 in a rotationally fixed manner.
The balls 70 run between tween two oppositely conical shaped rolling surfaces 73 and 72, one of which, 73, is firmly connected to an extension 74 extending from the bearing 3.
while the other. 72, displaceable in the direction of the axis of the drive shaft 1, but against rotation; is secured. Between the parts 72 and 73 there is arranged a regulator spring 75 that maintains the balance of the centrifugal force of the balls 70. The guide tube 76 serving for the Fwh- ru, ng of the part 72 in relation to the part 73 has a steep thread 77,
which engages in a corresponding nut thread 78 of a tubular extension 79 which is firmly connected to a gear 80. This gear is mounted rotatably in the axial direction on a bearing pin 81 equidistant to the drive shaft 1 and engages with its teeth in the
Ring gears 33 of the rotatable sleeve 32 serving to rotate the pump piston back and forth. When the speed of rotation of the shaft 1 changes, the conical surface 72 including its guide tube 76 and the thread 77 experiences an axial displacement in one sense or the other;
This Ver shift is converted by .das coarse thread 77, 7 8 in a rotation of the gear 80 ver, which is transferred to the ring gears 33 and thus to the individual pump piston 20, whereby the fuel supply to the machine is regulated accordingly.
