Device for actuating a chronograph mechanism. Manufacturers of chronographs have so far stuck to the round shape for the cases, corresponding to that of the usual free ca of these timepieces. This practice is in contradiction with the general aesthetic trends of recent years which are clearly in favor of shaped watch cases, especially square or rectangular.
The cause of this contradiction must be sought in the difficulty of adapting the push-button actuation devices to rectangular boxes: round free chronographs, which is even more difficult when it is. are housings. gaskets in which the mechanism must be actuated by one or more watertight pushers independent of the winding crown.
The present invention. aims to overcome this difficulty and to allow, using very simple means to adapt to the usual round calibers of chronographs cases, waterproof or not, of more or less rectangular or square shape. The object of the invention is a device for actuating a chronograph mechanism,
characterized in that it comprises at least one external pusher independent of the movement which is round and acts according to a non-radial component to the movement on an intermediate spring transmitting this thrust to the actuating member of the mechanism in a radial direction.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the device forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view, telescope up, of the first form; fig. 2 is a partially cut away side view of this form; fig. 3 is a plan view of the second form, FIG. 4 a partial section along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3, and fig. 5 is a. partial plan view of the third form.
The three embodiments shown refer to a chronograph with two push-buttons independent of the winding stem and with a square case comprising a case back and a fitted bezel interlocking on the back.
In the first form (, fig. 1. and 2), 10 designates the square bottom on the edges of which a bezel not shown is fitted. A round chronograph movement (not shown) is fitted in a circle of encagea, ge 12. Its mechanism is actuated as in most ordinary round chronographs by two pushers 13 independent of the winding stem and acting radially in relation to the gauge on the levers and toggles for stop, start and zero. 14 designates the barrel of the pendant for the passage of the winding stem.
Two external pushers 15, independent of the free AC, are fitted into openings made in one of the sides of the square caseband and allow the axial pushers 13 to be actuated through the free ends 16 'of a spring. flat and open annular 16 housed on part of its periphery in a peripheral recess of the enca ring, geage 12 where it is held in place by two pins 17 driven into the holes of two pairs of ears 18 made on the edges of the.
countersink the casing circle. To prevent any circumferential displacement of the spring 16 under the action of one or the other of the external pushers 15, this res comes out of two lateral stops 19 which engages in two corresponding recesses 20 of the circle of caging. It should be noted that here the radial inner pushers 13 are riveted to the free ends 1.6 ′ of the spring 16. It is. clear that these pushers can also be independent of said spring.
In the embodiment shown in fi-. 3 and 4, the caging circle has been removed. The chronograph movement 1.1. rests directly on the square base 10 whose edges forming the middle are. with heels 21. used to keep the movement in place. An open flat annular spring 16 directly encloses the movement on part of its periphery. 11 and its two free ends <B> 13 '</B> are angled towards the center, thus forming the radial interior pushers.
To avoid an eirconferential displacement of the spring 1.6, the latter is provided with lateral stops 19 which cooperate with the shoulders formed by the heels 21 of the bottom. The outer push-buttons 15 are here sealed push-buttons which act on the spring 1.6 by means of movable plates 22 serving to facilitate the correct operation of the push-button <B> 15. </B>
The embodiment shown in FIG. 5 differs from the first only in that the annular spring 16 has been replaced there by two strips 23, independent of each other and fixed by one of their ends to the casing circle 1.2 by screws? 4. The radial inner pushers 1.3 are riveted to the free ends of the melles 23.
It goes without saying that other means of fixing and stopping the intermediate spring or springs can be provided and that the device can also be applied equally well to a chronograph, a single pusher and to any form of box requiring the use of push evenings with non-radial action on movement.
