Description
Verfahren zur Verstellung eines neuen quaternären Ammoniumsalzes. Vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen quaternären Ammoniumsalzes.
Gemäss der Erfindung wird ein neues qua- ternäres Ammoniumsalz, geeignet zu Textil behandlungsverfahren, erhalten, indem man Octadecyloxymethyl-pyridinpyridinsulfit und wasserfreie Oxalsäure in Gegenwart von Py- ridin miteinander reagieren lässt.
Beispiel: 27 Teile Octadecylalkohol, 64 Teile Py- ridin und 8 Teile Paraformaldehyd werden zusammen bei<B>800</B> C gerührt und dann wird Schwefeldioxyd in solchem Betrag dem Ge misch zugesetzt, dass die Temperatur bei 84 bis<B>88"</B> C verbleibt, bis eine entnommene Probe des Reaktionsgemisches sich in kaltem Wasser vollständig löst.
Der so erhaltenen heissen Lösung des Oc- tadecyloxymethylpyridinpyridinsulfits in Py- ridin werden 10 Teile wasserfreie O$alsäure zugesetzt und das Gemisch wird bei 85 bis <B>900</B> C so lange gerührt, bis sich eine gleich mässige klare Flüssigkeit gebildet hat. Nach langsamem, mehrstündigem Abkühlen auf 20 C scheidet sich ein weisser, kristallinischer Körper ab. Dieser wird abfiltriert und aus Methylalkohol wieder auskristallisiert.
Das so erhaltene neue, quaternäre Ammoniumsalz, saures Octadecyloxymethyl-pyridinoxa.lat, ist eine weisse, kristallene Substanz mit einem Schmelzpunkt von 117 bis<B>1180</B> C. Das Salz löst sich in warmem Wasser, ergibt eine klare schäumende Lösung, welche auf Kongorot papier stark sauer reagiert und welche sich beim lochen trübt.
