Bein.
An Stelle des aliphatischen Restes von mittlerer Ketten- länge können auch entsprechende cycloalipha- tische oder ar.aliphatieche Reste in der Am- moniumbase vorhanden, sein;
Als besonders .geeignet haben. sich s ulfierte Derivate ungesättigter Fettsäuren oder Ogy- fettsä;

Process for the preparation of a wetting agent. In the Swiss patent no. 141852 and the additional patent no. 145028 wetting agents are described which consist of salts of sulfonic acids of organic compounds with organic ammonium bases.
It has now been shown that the increase in the wetting power of organic sulfonic acids largely depends on the composition of the ammonium bases added, and that products with particularly high wetting power are obtained when ammonium bases are used which contain an aliphatic residue of medium (straight or branched) chain length of about five to eleven carbon atoms.
This residue can be connected to the pentavalent Stiekatoffatom directly or through any bridges (ether, ester, carbonamide bridges etc.). Leg.
Instead of the aliphatic radical of medium chain length, corresponding cycloaliphatic or ar.aliphatic radicals can also be present in the ammonium base;
in the case of the latter, the benzene residue is not included in the mean chain length. The other radicals attached to the pentavalent nitrogen can either be short (non-capillary active) aliphatic or heterocyclic radicals.
As far as the sulfonic acids used as anions are concerned, as in the above-mentioned patent, alkylated aromatic sulfonic acids and sulfated unsaturated fatty acids or. Ogy fatty acids are used, i.e. substances which are known to be used as actual wetting agents and not as detergents.
As particularly .have suitable. sulfated derivatives of unsaturated fatty acids or ogy fatty acids;
have been shown to have a carbogyl group blocked by esterification or amidation, which, as is well known, sodium salts have been widely used because of their excellent wetting effect. As salts - of the ones mentioned. However, ammonium bases have an even better wetting effect.
The anion-active component is best used in excess, which makes it easier to dissolve or more difficult to salt out substances he holds.
The present patent now relates to a process for the production of a wetting agent, characterized in that the sulfonation product of Ülsäurediä.thyl- amid is reacted with an ammonium base, which is formed by combining 2,4-diisopropylbenzyl chloride Trimethylamine is formed. The salt obtained in this way represents a resinous,
Substance which is easily soluble in water and has excellent wetting properties is: Example: To 100 parts of a sulfated oleic acid diethylamide with a fat content of 357o, a solution of 12 parts of an ammonium base is added, which is obtained by combining 2.4 - Diisopropylbenzylehlori.d with trimethylamine is formed and probably has the following composition:
EMI0002.0036
By adding common salt, the: salt of the ammonium base can be excreted and optionally obtained free of salt and water by taking it up in chloro form and evaporating it.
