Description
Schachtel.
Box. The invention relates to a Schach tel, which can be folded flat, for the purpose of saving space at the storage location and for shipping the same.
In order to fold an ordinary box flat, the four box edges are folded over by a device so that the edges on the side come to lie on the inside of the box, while the other two edges lie flat on the outside, with the fold forming the box corner edges being smoothed out and for this purpose a fold running ver at an angle of 45 to the box edges is formed. A box that has been collapsed in this way no longer has any hold in its opened form, in which its edges lie down too easily.
The present invention relates to a box in which the edge parts are connected to one another by folding joints in such a way that they can be erected and laid down, means being provided to keep the edge parts in the erected position.
An example embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a box with the rim partially laid down on one side; and Fig. 2 is a plan view of the box with the edges laid down.
The box shown has a rectangular base 1, the longitudinal edges 2 of which are riveted or stapled with their end flaps 2 'to form the corner edge folds 3 on the inner sides of the widths 4 edges. The widths 4 are widened by retaining tabs 4 ', which are turned inward over the end tabs 2'.
If the longitudinal edges 2 are now folded inwards on the box bottom 1 and the widths 4 are placed outwards, the outer part of each end flask 2 'is formed at an angle of 45 0 to the ganten of the chess- telbodens 1 running, inclined fold 5 and smoothing of the corner edge fold 3 by lifting the retaining tabs 4 'pivoted out from under the same, as is illustrated by the right half of FIG.
In this way, the box edges can be laid down on the plane of the box bottom (Fig. 2), so that several collapsed boxes in a stack take up the smallest possible space.
By raising the box edges, the outer parts of the end flaps 2 'and lifting the retaining flaps 4' are back under the latter, whereupon the diagonal folds 5 are smoothed out and the corner folds 3 are placed back into the edges. Since the retaining tabs 4 'closely enclose the end tabs 2' when the box edges are raised, this position of the box edges is stable.
The lid of the box described is different from the latter only in terms of the dimensions. Lid and box can thus be folded flat in the same way and take up the smallest possible space in the warehouse and for shipping.
