Description

The invention relates to a cuboid-shaped folding box that can be manufactured from a one-piece cut for the storage and provision of objects, in particular small metal parts such as fittings, fastening points, screws, nuts, etc., with a bottom wall, a top wall, a rear wall, a front wall and two side walls.

Such folding boxes, which are made of cardboard or similar foldable flat material, are characterized by low production costs compared to containers made of metal or molded plastic. However, their stability, especially after prolonged use, leaves something to be desired. If they have a large opening for removal, their closing security is low, and vice versa.

The invention is based on the object of creating a folding box that is easy to manufacture, easy to handle and stable, which has the largest possible opening suitable for pouring and yet has a high degree of closing security.

This object is achieved according to the invention in a folding box of the type specified at the outset by -*&bgr;&

a section of the front wall with two swivel tabs hinged to the sides forms a chute which is hinged to the bottom wall and can be pivoted downwards to open, and that a corner part of the box located in the area of the top wall, front wall and side walls is designed as a hinged lid which is hinged to the top wall and can be pivoted upwards to open.

The folding box designed according to the invention is thus provided with both a hinged lid that can be swiveled upwards and a chute that can be swiveled downwards. This results in a particularly large removal opening that is at least as large as the base area of the box. Nevertheless, a high degree of closing security is achieved, since the hinged lid and the chute can hold each other when closed. Since the folding box consists of a one-piece blank that can be folded in a simple manner, preferably made of cardboard, the manufacturing costs remain low. Nevertheless, the folding box designed according to the invention is characterized by great stability and a long service life, even when opened and closed frequently.

Folding boxes are stackable. As long as the width of the folding boxes is uniform or their proportions are coordinated, smaller folding boxes can be stacked on top of larger ones even when opened. The angle of the hinged lid of the lower folding box determines the angle of the chute of the upper folding box.

A particularly high level of closing security is achieved by the fact that the front wall section of the chute essentially takes up the entire front wall area and is covered by the hinged lid when closed.

In cuboid-shaped folding boxes, the side walls usually have a side wall section each hinged to the top wall. In such a folding box, the hinged lid preferably consists of a rectangular part of the top wall, a section of the front wall of the same size hinged to this, two triangular parts of the two side wall sections and two lid tabs hinged to these, which are glued to the inside of the lid front wall section.

With such a design of the hinged lid, a further embodiment of the invention provides that the triangular lid parts are connected to the other parts of the side wall sections by a bridged punching, which can be torn open by the hinged lid being swung up for the first time. This results in an original closure which, on the one hand, securely closes the folding box in its original state and, on the other hand, provides an indication that the folding box has not yet been opened.

A high level of closure security during use is achieved by the fact that an outward-folding locking tab is hinged to the front wall section of the chute and that the two lid tabs are provided with recesses into which the locking tab snaps when the lid and chute are closed. The holding force achieved by this safety closure is so great that the folding box cannot open on its own even after frequent use. The locking tab also serves as edge protection for the front wall section of the chute.

ten walls each have a side wall section laterally hinged to the top wall and a section laterally hinged to the bottom wall, and that an additional side wall section is hinged to each side wall section of the bottom wall and folded back onto it, so that each side wall is formed by three side wall sections lying one above the other. Since the side walls, which usually form the gripping surfaces, in this case have three layers of material, the folding box is particularly stable.

The side wall sections located on the very inside protect the swivel tabs from getting caught on the objects filled into the folding box.

Preferably, each of the lid swivel tabs has an upper edge section in the form of a circular arc which serves as a guide, the center of which lies approximately in the corner of the box formed by the base wall, front wall and side wall and the radius of which is slightly smaller than the height of the side walls. In this case, an edge section which limits the opening angle of the swivel tabs is adjacent to the circular arc-shaped edge section, the distance of which from the said corner is slightly larger than the radius of the circular arc. In this way, the swivel tabs guided between two side wall sections are prevented from being accidentally read out.

The upper corner part of the folding box, which is located in the area of the front wall 8, is designed as a hinged lid 10 which can be swivelled upwards. In the area of the front wall 8, a chute 12 is also formed which is directed analogously to the base wall 2 and can be swivelled downwards.

The exact structure of the folding box with the hinged lid 10 \ and the chute 12 is shown in Fig. 1.

section or cover wall section, which are each connected to one another in the longitudinal direction by a groove line . The grooves are designed in a conventional manner so that they can be easily folded by 90°.

A rear wall tab 14 or 16 is hinged to the side of the rear wall section 4, also by a groove line. A side wall section 18 or 20 is hinged to the side of the rear wall 6, also by groove lines, the area of which essentially corresponds to the entire area of the side walls 9 or 11.

In the same way, a side wall section 22 or 24 is hinged to the base section 2. An additional side wall section 26 or 28 is hinged to the lateral outer edges of the side wall sections 22 and 24, namely via a notch each, which allows the side wall sections 26 and 28 to be folded back onto the side wall sections 22 or 24.

The chute 12 is formed by a front wall section 40, two swivel tabs 42, 44 and a locking tab 46. The front wall section 40 is hinged to the bottom wall section 2 via a groove line and is essentially identical in shape and size to the square rear wall section 4, so that the front wall section 40 of the chute 12 in the finished folding box takes up essentially the entire front wall area.

The swivel brackets 42, 44 are each laterally hinged to the front wall section 40 by a groove line, but are separated from the adjacent side wall sections 22, 24 by an incision. The swivel brackets 42, 44 have approximately the shape of a triangle, whereby they each have an edge section 48 or 50 in the form of a circular arc, the center of which lies in the corner A or B between the base section 2, the front wall section 40 and the associated side wall section 22 or 24 and the radius of which is only slightly smaller than the dimension of the side wall sections 22, 24 in the lateral direction. The edge sections 48, 50 are followed by straight edge sections 48 , 50.

The part 6b is hinged to the remaining part 6a of the cover wall section 6 by a groove line, which may be weakened by several incisions. The front wall section 56, which has the same shape and size as the cover part 6b and thus has a lower height than the front wall section 40, is hinged to the cover part 6b by a groove line.

The triangular cover parts 18b, 20b each have the shape of an isosceles right-angled triangle, with one leg being formed by the scoring line between the cover part 6b and the side wall sections 18 and 20. The cover tabs 58, 50 are hinged to the other two legs of the triangular cover parts 18b and 20b via a scoring line each.

The hypotenuses of the triangular lid parts 18b, 20b, which run at an angle of 45° to the side edges of the side wall sections 18, 20, are connected to the other parts 18a, 20b of the side wall sections 18, 20 by a bridged punch 62 or 64. The bridged punches 62, 64 are designed in such a way that they maintain a firm connection between the parts 18a and 18b or 20a and 20b of the side wall sections in the initial state of the folding box, whereby the hinged lid is held in its closed state. On the other hand, they can be easily torn open by folding the hinged lid 10 up for the first time in the fully folded state of the folding box.

each provided with a recess 66 or 68, the purpose of which is explained below.

In the finished state of the folding box, the individual parts of the blank shown in Fig. 1 are folded so that the folding box has the cuboid shape shown in Fig. 2. In particular, the additional side wall sections 26, 28 are folded back onto the side wall sections 22, 24 so that the side wall sections 26, 28 are on the inside and their projections 34, 36 engage in the notches 30, 32 and are held in place by them. The side wall sections 18, 20 hinged to the cover wall 6 are folded onto the outside of the side wall sections 22, 24 and connected to them by an adhesive.

The chute 12 is folded in such a way that the front wall section 40 forms part of the front wall 8 and the pivoting tabs 42, 44 each engage in the space between the associated side wall sections 22, 26 and 24, 28. The locking tab 46 is directed towards the interior of the closed folding box.

Since in the initial state - before opening for the first time - the bridged punchings 62, 64 are still intact and the hinged lid 10 overlaps the chute 12, a securely closed folding box is produced which cannot open accidentally.

Furthermore, since the folding box is manufactured from a one-piece blank and adhesive points are only required in the area between the side wall sections 18, 20 and 22, 24 and between the front wall section 56 and the lid flaps 58, 60, the manufacturing costs are comparatively low.

To open the folding box for the first time, the hinged lid 10 is swung upwards, whereby the bridged punched holes 62, 64 are torn open. The hinged lid 10 is then only connected to the rest of the folding box via the scoring line between the parts 6a and 6b of the cover wall 6.

Since these grooves are weakened by incisions, the hinged lid 10 can be folded back by practically 180°, although such a large opening movement is generally neither necessary nor expedient.

If the hinged lid 10 is folded back sufficiently, it releases the chute 12, which can then be swung downwards. The swivel tabs 42, 44 slide between the corresponding side wall sections 22, 26 and 24, 28. The straight edge sections 52, 54 of the swivel tabs 42, 44 limit the opening movement of the chute 40 to approx. 45°.

If the hinged lid 10 is pivoted upwards and the chute 12 is pivoted downwards, a removal opening is created that is at least as large as the base area of the folding box. The objects contained in the folding box, preferably small metal parts such as fittings, screws, nuts, etc., can be removed by hand or emptied out via the chute 12.

Before closing the folding box, the locking tab 46 is folded outwards. If now first the

If the chute 12 is swung upwards and then the hinged lid 10 is swung downwards, the locking tab 46 snaps into the recess formed by the cutouts 66, 68 of the lid tabs 58, 60. For this purpose, the shape of the cutouts 66, 68 is adapted to the shape of the locking tab 46. The holding force achieved by this safety closure is so great that the folding box cannot open on its own even after frequent use. At the same time, the locking tab 46 makes it easier to pull out the chute 12. It also serves as edge protection for the front wall section 40.

In the embodiment shown, the rear wall 4 and the front wall 8 are square, while the length of the side walls 9, 11 is almost twice as large as the side length of the rear wall 4 or front wall 8.

From Fig. 4 it can be seen that a smaller folding box can be stacked on top of a larger folding box even when opened, provided the boxes are of the same width or matched to one another. The opening angle of the hinged lid of the lower folding box gives the opening angle of the chute of the upper folding box.
