Method for the production of a printing plate, in particular a flat printing plate, by galvanic means. The present invention relates to a method for producing a single printing plate, in particular a flat printing ; häs, in <B>, </B> Iva, Ola nisch ways, and that should see the generated clich, #, both in the form of printing plates, as well as printing rollers for printing on paper, cellulose rain sheets, aluminum foils , and fabrics are suitable.
The method for the production of the printing chemical according to the invention is based on the galvanic application of metallic layers, which is known in the cliché manufacture, as well as the also known application of varnish layers on the printing areas and orders therein that, mau on an exactly or. cylindrical soled,
non-porous iron base a coating of corrosion-resistant metal, e.g. For example, nickel, applies, applies the printing sheet and, by treating it with a solution of an insulating varnish resistant to electrolyte baths, which exposes the areas surrounding the rupkbild, covers it with a layer of paint., Then a layer,
111 Clich6metall electroplated up to the level of this lacquer layer, the lacquer layer removed again by washing, so that in its place an area that is recessed in relation to the lacquer surface and is distorted according to the printed image, and then by means of a further treatment that one of these areas attracts color and the other color-adjoins.
This process differs fundamentally from all the processes previously used for the> production of flat printing # olioli6s, with whites, the print image on the ClioW was caused by etching and the non-printing areas were treated with bold,% b- staining preprocessions, and gives significant advantages.
The transfer of the image takes place, regardless of whether on plates or rollers, in the finest details, with the greatest precision, and in particular an R,% stQr can be reproduced faithfully and equally in contrast to those generated by the etching process th raster images, in which, due to the unreliable manual work, an exact even reproduction is never possible,
<B> where </B> arise from irregularities in the print image; the result is a completely perfect reproduction of the image even with the finest raster. It is also of particular importance when using such clichés in rotary printing, where it is known that the diameter of the printing rollers must be extremely precise.3, that the galvanized metal layers are very simple to remove a cliché and before applying a new one by reversing the polarity of the baths White can be removed again,
so that the rollers can be used again with their unchanged circumference. In the same way, of course, cliché plates can also be reused as often as required by removing the cliché galvaniseh again after having freed the printing surface from the adhering ink residues with a solvent,
so that no sanding or sanding of the cliché surface is necessary for reuse. Furthermore, in the process according to the invention, not only can the thickness of the layers or layers. the Clich # 6 relief can be regulated at will by corresponding regulation of the decisive electrical factors during the electroplating process, but the printed image results automatically, so to speak, with the correct effects, in contrast to the deep etching process, where it is often necessary
to cover areas of the image that are to be printed more finely after the first etching, <B> in order to </B> be able to continue etching other areas that need to be etched deeper, which results in laborious and costly manipulations while the new process is being carried out is simple and economical, and the result is an extremely durable and insensitive clichA.
The resistance of the printing ink to fatty acids, which are mainly used with these printing inks, can also be increased by galvanizing the surface of the non-printing areas with a thin chrome coating.
According to the method according to the invention, gravure printing, relief printing, letterpress printing can also be used. getting produced.
The production of a flat print will be described in some exemplary embodiments with the aid of the drawing, in which the various phases are shown in a schematic, greatly enlarged section through a cylinder.
According to a first exemplary embodiment, the method for the production of a plate-shaped cliché proceeds as follows: A plane-ground iron plate <B> 1 </B> which must not have any porous areas serves as the base. This plate is galvanically coated with a protective coating against reddening and corrosion, e.g.
B. made of nickel, see to the subsequent application <B> of </B> the </B> coating made of ClioWmetall <B> - </B> including the galvanic metals used in the Clioh # 6hersW1ung, such as copper, 7änk, lead , Brass, antimony, nickel and chrome are <B> - </B> easier.
The treatment in the production of a zinc alloy and a copper alloy with a coating of antimony, lead or the like will now be described below as essential variants.
To produce the zinc oxide, the nickel layer 2 (FIG. 2) is first thinly copper-plated and a zinc layer <B> 3 </B> (FIG. 3) is electroplated onto it. This zinc layer receives the usual pre-treatment for recording the transfer printing or the photographic reproduction of the image.
After the image has been applied, the surface is well rubberized, possibly pre-etched a little, and then washed out with a tint from a solution of Aaphaltlack with the addition of Canada balsam in rectified terpeiitin oil. #the non-printing areas, <B> d. </B> h.
the areas outside the image parts that do not absorb any color during printing are protected against this tincture by the rubber layer while <B> the </B> printing areas pick up and hold the same. The <U> rubber </U> is now loosened by steaming or painting over with hot water, so that the lacquer layer on the non-printing areas also loosens and. the printing areas remain covered with the "insulating Lacheliielit 4", which is resistant to electrolyte veins (Fig. 4).
Now the surface is rubbed with a solution of caustic potash and cyanide in aqueous ammonia to make the uncovered areas free of grease. However, this solution must not be stronger than necessary for the degreasing effect, as otherwise the applied paint will be attacked.
To. Rinsing the plate in the water bath, a zinc layer <B> 5 </B> is again applied in the electroplating bath (Fig. <B> 5), </B> of such thickness that it is flush with the lacquer layer 4 concludes.
A thin chromium layer <B> 6 </B> (Fig. <B> 6) </B> is also galvanically applied to this zinc layer <B> 5 </B> as a finishing hole. Then the space from # your bathroom is taken out, rinsed clean and again .O # smeared, whereupon the applied varnish <B> 5 </B> with a solvent, <B> Z. </B> B. turpentine oil, is washed off over the rubber, so that, at the bottom of the depressions separating the image, the bare metal is
one comes (Fig. 7). Then the metal surface is rubbed off with clove oil and a varnish, which consists of Syrian asphalt dissolved in rectified terpene oil, is applied, so # d # ass, he in the vertie Where it adheres, it forms a layer <B> 7 </B> (Fig. <B> 8) </B>.
After removing the rubbers: chielit, this lacquer layer <B> 7 </B> representing the printed image remains in the! Depressions, but without filling them in full height, whereby 'the thickness of the layer can be determined by appropriate dosage of the lacquer solution'. It is then rinsed clean again in order to free all non-printing areas from the varnish that has remained on the rubber layer.
This is followed again by a gum coating with gum arabic and the entire surface of the plate is rolled over the gum with feather paint (i.e. the high-color, low-fat black printing ink of the lithograph). The feather paint lying over the rubber is now removed again by means of steam or hot water, so that) only the feather paint flowing on the lacquer base remains.
Then the non-printing areas are etched with zinc etching, so that they do not take on any color during printing. Then it is washed off again to remove the feather color, and this is done with turpentine, so that the varnish in the recesses is also removed.
Naelidein, this has happened, the asphalt paint solution is again applied over the <U> rubber </U> so that it again fills the depressions in a certain hell, and here on # the rubber layer is removed, with the Laek adhering to it also goes off over the non-printing areas, the cliché surface rinsed with waaser, lightly etched and rinsed again,
whereupon the printing plate6 is ready for printing in the formation indicated in FIG. 8.
When printing, the printing ink <B> 8 </B> (Fig. <B> 9) </B> fills the depressions above the ink-absorbing lacquer layer <B> 7 </B>, and you have it in your hand , <B> depending </B> after more or less color is introduced into the depressions, whereby the same can even exceed the depression edges, to regulate the printing effect as desired.
The treatment described above he follows naturally in the same way. also for Clic1116walzen, the only difference being ordered in that; the treatment of plates in a trough, the treatment of rollers, however, in a trough with the threat of the roller.
The production of a Kupferelich6 & er follows felgendermaien.
The plate surface (or roller surface) is first nickel-plated as indicated above and then a fairly thick layer of electroplated copper is applied. The cliché surface is then rinsed clean and coated with a light layer of gum arabic to prevent oxidation. To apply the # picture, the surface of the plate is rinsed again with water to which a little sodium hydroxide solution has been added and, after rinsing again with wamer, dried with cotton wool. The image is then applied using one of the known methods, all non-printing areas are cleaned and the plate surface is gummed.
Then another application of asphalt and Canada balsam in rectified turpentine is applied to the surface of the plate and the rubber slides and the asphalt varnish adhering to the non-printing areas are removed using steam or hot water.
After the non-printing areas have been completely cleaned, the plate is rinsed clean again with Wamer, then freed from excess fat by washing with a solution of potassium cyanide and sodium hydroxide in water, and then rinsed clean with water. Then a layer of antimony or lead is galvanically applied up to the level of the lacquer layer, so that the entire surface is even. The plate is then rinsed clean again and gummed with rubber larabic.
The surface of the plate is then again washed over the rubber with rectified turpentine oil, so that the asphalt paint dissolves and the bare copper ground emerges in the depressions. Then, after drying, the entire ClichA surface is rectified over the rubber. Turpentine oil coated asphalt so that an even surface is formed.
After this layer of lacquer has set, the plate is washed over the rubber with water so that the rubber layer and the layer of asphalt on it loosens while the image is printed through the lacquer stay covered.
After the non-printing areas have been completely cleaned of any remaining asphalt varnish residue, the surface of the plate is again gummed with gum arabic and feather paint is rolled over the rubber layer. Here on, the feather paint above the rubber is washed away with a dilute solution of sulfuric and nitric acid, whereby the feather paint adheres to the asphalt base in the depressions.
Then the plate surface is cleaned clean with Wa.-Aer and then etched with a dilute mixture of # sulfuric and nitric acid. This makes the lead or antimony water-attracting, while the pressure areas are fat-attracting.
The surface of the cliché is then gummed again, the layer of asphalt paint and feather paint is washed out over the surface with turpentine oil and after rinsing, the surface of the plate is again etched with a thin solution of sulfuric and nitric acid, whereupon the cliché is ready for printing.
In the case of the last-described method of operation, a reversal of the image could also take place by galvanic means. In this case, the iron core would again be provided with a nickel coating as described, but in contrast to the last-described embodiment, a layer of antimony or lead or lead would be galvanized. an alloy of the same applied. The image is then applied according to one of the known methods, all non-printing areas are cleaned and the plate surface is rubberized.
Then a solution of asphalt and Canada balsam in rectified turpentine is applied to the surface of the plate and the rubber layer and the asphalt varnish adhering to the non-printing areas is removed using steam or hot water. Then the plate is thoroughly cleaned and washed out again. A copper schielite is then galvanically applied up to the level of the lacquer layer, and the lacquer layer is washed out, after which it is etched with sulfuric or nitric acid.
The image to be printed is then formed by the entire printing area, while the other areas consisting of lead or antimony do not take on any color as a result of the etching with sulfuric and nitric acid and consequently do not print.
If such a. If the plate is no longer to be used, the plate or roller is cleaned of the remaining paint with petrol or turpentine and then placed in a galvanic degreasing bath without mechanical treatment such as sanding, sanding or the like, which removes all grease spots . <U> Then </U> the clir, 116 body is placed in the galvanic bath in which the upper metal layer has been formed,
and when the polarity of the current is reversed, it is galvanized for exactly the same time as when the upper metal layer was applied, but the clie, h6 body forms the anode, and the galvanized layer is removed again galvanically. Then, the disk or roller with exactly the same thickness respectively. Same chemical scope as before for taking a new picture.
On the one hand, this results in a large saving of cliché material and, on the other hand, with rotary printing the advantage that the circumference of the rollers is not changed, but always remains the same.
The method also offers the advantage over the hand-etching method, in which the plates or in particular the rollers can easily suffer damage from striking them, that the treatment can proceed in a gentle manner in which the Plate for plate-shaped clichés is simply moved from one trough to the other and when treating roll marks, the roll can be easily transferred from one bath to the next using a la, ufka, tz & j,
where the B # can be placed next to each other.
Thanks to this process, the layer to be applied can also be kept so thin that it has no tendency to crack. This is particularly important for the use of such blocks in offset printing (plate printing), where the plates are clamped onto a cylinder, and difficulties arose with hand-etched plates because,,
the upper layer jumped off at the edges to be bent and, however, the metal that had appeared took up paint at these points, so that a smear print arose at the edges, which is excluded in the present process.
Furthermore, the present method can be used in a particularly advantageous manner for generating clie "h, 6s for rotary printing, since in this case roller marks are generated with an endless, i.e. closed, printed image area can.
In this way it would be possible to continuously print endless images on material webs such as paper, textile fabric, aluminum foil, etc.
Such clichés should also be used with advantage in letterpress printing if an indirect application roller, e, were provided for the ink application. The Clich6 would be very well protected here, since the coloring is done using gelatine rollers. The ink would then have to be transferred from the cylinder to a rubber roller, which prints it onto the paper web.
In this way it would also be possible to print using the offset type of letterpress.
The procedure could also be carried out in the following way: The Clioh. & körl) - r (plate or roller made of iron) is first lightly nickel-plated and then galvanized with a thicker layer of copper or brass. Ilissrauf gets the picture in one of the well-known.
Meithoden applied, whereupon the claw surface is degreased again, namely in those places which are not allowed to print. A nickel layer is then applied galvanically up to the level of the previously applied layer of lacquer, then the clay body is rinsed clean with water, gummed and dried, the layer of asphalt lacquer is removed in the known manner,
so that, in the. Depressions the bare copper or brass base comes to the front and then the surface is washed out over the rubber with a solution of asphalt varnish in rectified turpentine <B> oil </B>, so that this layer of varnish in the depressions is now a color-absorbing base Form of the print image. Feather paint is then rolled over the rubber and then the <U> rubber </U> is loosened with steam or hot water at the non-printing areas together with the pen color, so that the latter only remains on the print.
This is followed by etching with water-diluted sulfuric acid. The cliché surface is then gummed again and the cliché image is washed away with turpentine over the G # unuai, including the feather color, so that the bare metal, O * round appears again in the indentations.
Now the rubber is washed out again with a solution of asphalt varnish without the addition of Canada balsam, <B> where- </B> by being over the copper or brass in the depressions, a color-attracting layer is again formed , while the surrounding nickel surface has a color-repellent effect as a result of the sulfuric acid treatment. A solution of sulfuric acid, glycerine and water is used to dampen this paint-repelling nickel layer.
Of course, the treatment during electroplating can also reverse the pressure effect by applying a nickel slide as a first layer to the cliché surface, then applying the image and asphalt varnish as described and then applying a second layer of copper or brass up to Height of the Ixwksehicht is applied galvanically.
If, after removing the lacquer by washing it out in the same way as described above, the etching has been carried out, the entire surface will be color-loving with the exception of the depressions, which have a nickel base, which has become color-repellent as a result of etching with sulfuric acid iet.
