Fauteuil transformable.
Dans d'autres formes d'exécution, les moyens de liaison et de guidage décrits pour raient être remplacés par tous autres équiva lents. Par exemple, les pivots G du dossier pourraient être guidés, suivant le parcours brisé I-J-.Ti# qui leur est assigné, par des glissières de même forme fixées au bâti, les biellettes 6 étant alors supprimées et les res sorts 5 étant attachés en d'autres points du bâti pour agir directement sur le dossier; on pourrait aussi limiter l'ouverture de l'angle formé par le siège et le dossier par tous autres moyens que ceux représentés;
Convertible armchair. The subject of the invention is a convertible chair, comprising on each side an angled lever which oscillates on a fixed axis and of which one of the branches is articulated at the bottom of the backrest and the other at the rear of the seat.
This chair is characterized in that the back bone wobbles backwards with respect to the angled lever which lei. connected to the seat is limited by stop members independent of the frame and that the whole of the backrest and the said lever can then continue to oscillate backwards with respect to this frame as a whole upright, to the against the tension of a return spring hooked to the frame.
One embodiment of the chair which is the subject of the invention will be described with reference to the appended drawing given only by way of example.
Figs. 1, 2 and 3 show the chair in side elevation in its three positions of use; the frame is supposed to be bare in order to show the mechanism; Fig. 4 is a horizontal sectional view along the line IV-IV of FIG. 1.
a designates the entire frame, b the seat and c the backrest.
On each side, the frame supports by means of a pivot A an elbow lever 1 with unequal branches, one end of which is articulated in B on the seat and the other in C on the back sier. The pivot B is placed near the rear of the seat and carried by a fitting 2 fixed to the frame thereof.
The pivot C is placed at the lower end of the backrest and carried by a fitting 3 fixed to its frame.
The front of the seat is supported on each side by a stud D carried by a lever with two branches 4 which pivots in E on the frame and which. is connected, on the one hand, to the latter by a spring 5 and, on the other hand, to the backrest by a link 6 articulated in F on this lever and in G on the backrest.
The seat rests on each stud D by a fitting 7 which is fixed to its frame and which can slide on this stud: the latter may need to be provided with a roller or roller in order to reduce the friction in contact with this fitting.
The axes A and E are mounted on brackets 8 and 9 fixed to the frame and the axis G is mounted on a bracket 10 fixed to the backrest at a certain distance above the pivot C. A the ordinary chair position (fig. L @). the angled lever 1 is placed so that the pivot B is above and a little behind the pivot A and the pivot C behind the latter approximately at its level.
The backrest is thus in its lowest and least inclined position; its lower part, located behind the seat and against it, then rests on a rear cross member 11 of the frame; at the same time, the seat is kept almost horizontal because its rear part is lifted almost as far as possible by the pivot B. while the studs D on which it rests at the front are in their low position. Besides. in this position, the front of the seat could also rest on a front cross member 1? of the frame.
In this position, the backrest is held upright by the. tension of the springs: 1 and -of the rods 6 and could not overturn (-it backwards only by tilting the lever d. (1- so as to. lift the front of the seat and PI! - consequently the part of the weight of the seated person acting in front of the pivots -1.
However, so that the file more surely resists the. thrust from the back of the occupant, on the lower edge of each link 6 is provided a notch 13 which. at. the, position of FIG. 1, is engaged on a pin II fixed to the frame and which thus rigidly opposes any movement of the pivot G rearward.
It should be noted that the key weight of the occupant tends to hold the seat in place because the pivot B is a little behind the pivot A, so that there is no fear that the The seat does not accidentally move forwards and thus does not cause an involuntary lifting, known as the backrest, by means of the crank lever 1.
To go from the position shown in fig. 1 to that of a recliner (fig.?). it is enough. to lift the backrest by an effort directed a little towards the rear. Lifting (pivots G and C has the effect of disengaging notches 1: 3 (studs II and pivoting driven levers 1, which brings pivots B forward and down.
The seat thus advances by sliding on the studs D and by tilting. backwards: at the same time. the levers 1 sounded by the weight of the seat and by the pulling of the springs 5 prevent the rods 6 and the pivots G from moving backwards, so that the inclination and the lifting of the backrest depend on the movement ment of the pins C around the pins A.
The year of reversal of the backrest in relation to the seat is limited, independently of the. connection by the connecting rods 6 and the bent levers 4. by means of stop devices comprising an arm 1-1 articulated in L on each bent lever 1.
and connected by a link 15 to the backrest, so that when the latter is overturned, the arm 14 abuts against an ernot 1 6 integral with said lever 1 and thus limits the rotation of the backrest around the pivot C.
The so-called chair ectzliant can thus lean on the backrest at the same time as on the seat without the angle formed by them being able to open more. Their position is held in a stable manner by the tension (the springs 5.
However, in order to pass from this resting position to the chaise-longue position (fig, 3 ) it is sufficient for the occupant to put on the back a sufficient part of his weight to tilt around (the pivots A across the backrest and said seat by tensioning the springs 5.
This rearward tilting is limited by rubber or other stops 11. on which come to rest the neck parts 18 of the rods 6, but it is understood that it would be possible to obtain an even more pronounced tilting towards the rear if desired. In each tilting position around the pivots _1 and E. the balance of the whole is ensured by the tension of the springs 5 balancing, unlike the pairs of opposite directions exerted by gravity on the backrest and on the loaded seat of the occupant.
In other embodiments, the connecting and guiding means described could be replaced by all other equivalents. For example, the pivots G of the backrest could be guided, following the broken path IJ-.Ti # assigned to them, by guides of the same shape fixed to the frame, the rods 6 then being removed and the spells 5 being attached in other points of the frame to act directly on the file; one could also limit the opening of the angle formed by the seat and the backrest by any other means than those shown;
a tension spring could also be attached, on the one hand, to the rear of the seat frame and, on the other hand, to the front cross member of the frame, in order to help move the seat forward and consequently to the lifting of the file.
