la fig. 1 représente schématiquement la dite forme d'exécution de l'installation de production de vapeur, qui comporte un géné rateur sans corps cylindrique à circulation forcée, et qui est munie d'un dispositif ser vant à la commande et au contrôle de son fonctionnement; la fig. 2 est une coupe verticale d'une soupape pilote; la: fig. 3 est une coupe verticale d'un re lais pneumatique; la fig. 4 est semblable à la fi-. 3, mais comporte certaines particularités supplémen taires de construction;
Installation for the production of steam, equipped with a steam generator and a device for controlling and monitoring its operation. The subject of the invention is an installation for the production of steam, provided with a steam generator and a device serving as.
the control and monitoring of its operation, characterized by a first main consuming apparatus using an elastic fluid, by a second auxiliary consuming apparatus using an elastic fluid, and by a mechanism regulating the speed of the auxiliary consuming apparatus under the pressure. action of variations in pressure acting on the main consumer device.
The embodiment of the installation according to the invention, which will be described below by way of example, comprises a: steam generator of the type without cylindrical body with forced circulation, including the circulation of the fluid comprises one or more tubes of great length and of small internal diameter, in which the circulation according to the circuit traversed is caused by the entry of the liquid under pressure by one of the ends and by the outlet of the vapor alone by the other,
the quantity of liquid introduced being normally greater than that of the vapor which leaves and the difference between these quantities being taken from the aforementioned circuit, between its ends.
In said embodiment which will be described later, almost all of the fear produced passes into a main turbine. An auxiliary turbine is used to supply the steam generator with liquid and combustion elements and the regulation of the auxiliary turbine takes place partly under the action of the pressure of the vapor in the casing of the main turbine at a point where this pressure makes it possible to measure the flow rate of the vapor stream
inlet in the main turbine and the crossing. This vapor pressure therefore makes it possible to measure the load of the generator and consequently of the power of said generator. We will now describe, at. as an example, the. embodiment mentioned above, which is shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:
fig. 1 schematically shows the said embodiment of the steam production installation, which comprises a generator without a cylindrical body with forced circulation, and which is provided with a device for controlling and monitoring its operation; fig. 2 is a vertical section of a pilot valve; the: fig. 3 is a vertical section of a pneumatic re lais; fig. 4 is similar to fi-. 3, but has certain additional construction features;
the fi--. 5 is a sectional elevation of a portion of a steam turbine; fig. 6 is a graph of the ratio between flow and pressure; the fi-. 7 and 8 are construction details of a pilot valve.
The circuit for circulating the fluid of the steam generator without a cylindrical body with forced circulation which the embodiment shown of the installation according to the invention comprises, is shown schematically in. fig. 1, in the form of a single serpentine tube, the section of the economizer 202 of which is supplied with liquid under pressure by a pipe 11, coming from a pump 2189, which may be of any suitable type and which consequently has been shown in diagrammatic form.
On leaving the economizer, the liquid passes through a vaporization section which can, for example, form the bottom, walls and screen of the combustion chamber, the fluid then discharging into a separator 232, forming an enlarged part of the fluid circulation circuit. On leaving the separator, the steam arrives at. a superheater 242 and through it, and to a main turbine 12, taken as an example of such a main consumer of steam.
The excess liquid entering the separator is extracted from the fluid circulation circuit through a pipe 1 to arrive, for example, in a hot water tank or at the discharge. A continuous normal evacuation or extraction takes place through a throttle 2, while a variable extraction is done through a regulating valve 3.
A heat source is shown in the form of an oil burner ô 4 supplied by an oil pump 290, via a pipe 5, and surrounded by an air chamber 6 supplied by a fan 288, by the 'intermediary of a pipe 7.
To achieve the initial ignition of the oil burner device, we have. provided a gas burner 8 supplied, by a pipe 9, by a gas flow controlled by a valve 10. The combustion products pass successively through the vaporization section, the superheater and the economizer and can come in contact with part or all of the separator.
The walls which limit the passage of the gases from the burner to the chimney are shown diagrammatically at 300 in phantom.
An auxiliary turbine 287, constituting an auxiliary consumer apparatus, controls the liquid supply pump 289, the fan 28 and the oil supply pump 290.
Although these devices have been shown schematically and as if they were mounted so as to be controlled by the same shaft and at the same speed, it should of course be understood that the necessary reduction gears or control links between the various devices are known and would be established in an appropriate manner, with regard to their speed, power,
summer. relative and that we have only proposed to indicate that the auxiliary turbine controls the devices 289, 288 and 290 so simultaneously and in concordance.
The flow rate of the fuel oil supply to the burner 4 is first controlled by the. speed of the oil pump 290, but is still regulated by a regulator valve 13 placed in the pipe 5, the oil flow being continuously measured by a counter 14.
The flow rate of the air supply serving to maintain the combustion is determined on board by the speed of the fan 288, but is also under the control of a damper 15 placed in the duct 7 , the air flow rate being continuously measured by a meter 16.
When the steam generator is in operation, certain variable factors are measured, recorded and used as the basis for the automatic control of the supply to said generator with fluid and the supply of the furnace, heating with combustion elements. .
19 -describes a device operating under the action of pressure, such as a Bourdon tube, joined to the pipe 244 and comprising an indicator needle 2.0 intended to cooperate, with an index. 2'1, to give the instantaneous value of the pressure of the steam outlet stream.
By way of indicator: of the power or of the load - of the steam generator, a Bourdon tube 25 is provided, intended to make an indicator needle 26 take a suitable position with respect to an index 27.
The Bourdon tube 2a is joined, by means of a capillary tube 28, to the turbine 12 'at a point (fig. 5) such that the Bourdon tube is sensitive to the action of the pressure in it. the casing of the first stage of the turbine, pressure which is in a linear relation with the flow of the current of the fear (fig. 6).
The indications of needle 2.6, relative to the scale 27, therefore represent the flow rate of the steam stream leaving the steam generator and thus provide an indication of the power or load of the generator.
29 designates a device operating under the action of the height of the liquid level in the separator 232, and constituting a pressurized box enclosing a U-shaped mercury tube joined at the bottom and at the top of the separator. A float is arranged so as to rise and fall with the .surface of the mercury -in one of the branches -du tube and thus brings into a suitable position a needle 30 relative to an index 31,
to make known the instantaneous height of the liquid level in the separator.
The flow meters generally designated by 14 and 1.6 providing a measurement of the flow rate of the fuel and air supply to the fireplace respectively are of a known type and each of them is an apparatus. operating under the action of a differential pressure and -disposed so as to restore the differences i from the linear proportionality between the differential pressure and the flow rate,
so that the angular displacements of the respective needles are directly proportional by quantities -differen tial to the differential variations of the -flow. The outline of the parts entering into the construction of the interior of the flow meter 14 is shown in dotted lines; this meter comprises a bell ià liquid seal, the walls of which are made of a material -d'épaisseur and of suitable shape.
The pressure box of the level indicator 2j9 and the flow meter 16 are each shown in section, so as to clearly show their internal construction form.
The flow meters 14 and 16 cooperate in controlling the regulator valve 13 for the fuel oil, so as to maintain the determined proportion of fuel and air.
An increase in the flow rate of the air stream passing through line 7 has the effect of rotating counterclockwise an indicator arm 301, moving a connecting rod 302 upwards. Likewise, an increase in the flow rate of the fuel oil flow in pipe 5 has the effect of rotating in the opposite direction a needle of one. Shows an indicator arm 3.08, moving a connecting rod 304 towards the bottom.
Movements of equal amplitude of the connecting rods 302, 304 (in the opposite direction) do not give rise to any movement in the direction of its axis of a rod 72 of a pilot valve; this is what is desired so that the rate ratio remains invariable.
But, if the air and fuel flow rates vary, the differential variation occurring between the positions and the movements of the connecting rods 302, 304 causes the displacement along its axis of the pilot 7 2 in a direction and by an amount such that the diaphragm actuated regulator valve 13 moves an appropriate amount and direction so as to. return the fuel flow to the value that corresponds to the desired proportion with the air flow.
The flow rate of the supply of liquid and combustion elements to the steam generator is first regulated by controlling the speed of the. auxiliary turbine; this adjustment is made on the basis of the pressure measurement of the. steam leaving the superheater, the pressure in the casing of the turbine taken as a measure of the steam flow rate and the measurement or reading of the speed of the auxiliary turbine.
The auxiliary turbine can be supplied with high pressure steam coming from the steam generator through a pipe 500 com carrying a valve 501. It can receive exhaust steam from the. main turbine by a bypass 502 comprising a valve 503. It can receive and use the withdrawal steam in a stage of the main turbine through a pipe 504 comprising a valve 505.
The valve box of the auxiliary turbine is preferably arranged to normally receive steam. low pressure, such as exhaust or draw-off steam. main turbine, and it is only in the ca.s on the flow of this steam is insufficient to meet the needs of the regulating mechanism of the auxiliary turbine that the inlet valve device opens the inlet of the. high pressure steam through hose 500.
The box. The auxiliary turbine valve is shown schematically and comprises a partition 311 containing the seats of the intake valves and the cooperating valves 308, 309, 310. A camshaft 305 brings into suitable positions three cams wedged on the shaft. and controlling the valves. Others, partitions 306, 307 are provided to separate the steam inlets through pipes 500, 502 and 504. Preferably, valve 308 opens first. admits so much in the auxiliary turbine of the. going afraid of main turbine exhaust 12.
If the amount of steam required increases, valve 310 opens to admit steam from the main turbine draw-off, and if it increases further, valve 309 opens to admit high pressure steam through the main turbine. pipe 500 branched onto the outlet pipe 244 of the generator.
It is advantageous first to vary the speed of the auxiliary turbine in accordance with the main turbine to establish an approximate proportion between the supply of the steam generator with liquid and combustion elements according to the specification. the load of the steam generator.
then carry out a new individual adjustment of the liquid supply. in fuel and air in accordance with the variable factors in the operation of the installation.
If steam were supplied to the auxiliary turbine at a relatively constant pressure, for example from the steam generator, the main function of the regulating mechanism would be to vary the opening of the inlet valves in accordance with the requirements. the operation of the main valve. But when the auxiliary turbine consumes the draw-off or exhaust steam from the main turbine, if the load on the main turbine decreases.
the steam pressure available to the auxiliary turbine is dropping faster than it would take for the auxiliary turbine to perform its service and it will be. probably necessary that:
the valves open progressively as and when. as the. load decreases and it may even happen that the load having decreased to a certain value, the quantity of steam coming from this source will be. insufficient and that the high pressure valve must open to complete the supply of draft or exhaust steam.
The auxiliary turbine inlet valves cannot be controlled directly according to the operation of the main turbine or the load of the steam generator unless the feed to the auxiliary turbine is at a minimum. relatively constant pressure, for example from the steam generator. However, it is desired that the auxiliary turbine run at a speed which is approximately in agreement with that of the main turbine.
To determine the speed of the auxiliary turbine, an oil pump 506 is driven by the auxiliary turbine and with it, to establish an oil pressure at a known ratio with the speed. This oil pressure is used in a regulating mechanism which normally tends to keep the speed of the auxiliary turbine constant regardless of the steam pressure which feeds it.
Then, the device operating under the action of the oil pressure is charged in accordance with the variations which occur in the operation of the steam generator and the main turbine, thus allowing the speed governor. variable of the auxiliary turbine to meet the speed conditions it must meet.
The oil leaving the pump 506 passes through a pipe 507 and arrives in an expandable metallic bellows 508 intended to take a suitable position at one of the ends of a floating connecting rod 509. The other end of the connecting rod 509 moves under the action of a driving piston moving in a cylinder 511 and actuates the shaft 805 of the tines to move the steam inlet valves 808, 809, 310. in the auxiliary turbine.
A pilot rod 42 is suspended from the connecting rod 509 between the ends of the connecting rod and controls the flow of pressurized oil through a pilot box 43, to the opposite faces of the piston 511.
Fig. 2 shows in detail a pilot valve such as that designated 43.
The pressurized fluid arrives inside the box 43 between pilot guides 44 which are separated on the rod 42 by a gap such that they lie in cohesion with narrow annular orifices 45. When the pilot rod comes together. moves along its axis in the box, so that the guides 44 move relative to the orifices 45, a defined load pressure is established in the annular orifices, which pressure is in a known relationship with the amplitude of this movement.
For example, if the rod 42 rises, there exists at the upper outlet orifice, on the left side of the box (fig. 2), a load pressure which increases in a defined ratio with the amplitude of this movement, while if the rod 42 descends, there is at the lower outlet port on the left side a pressure which increases in a definite manner with the amplitude of the movement.
Assuming there is a fixed load at the upper end of governor spring 512, if the load on the main turbine decreases, causing the pressure of the available steam to drop either through hose 502 or through the pipe 504, the speed, of the auxiliary turbine decreases, by reducing the pressure of the oil acting in the bellows 508 and by lowering the left side end of the connecting rod 509, movement which s 'accompanied by a corresponding downward movement of the pilot 42.
This movement decreases the pressure above the piston and increases the pressure below the piston 511, which raises the piston and returns the pilot 42 to its determined position. The upward movement of the piston 511 opens the intake valves and thus tends to return the speed of the auxiliary turbine to its original value.
As has been said above, it is advantageous that the load of the spring 512 of the regulator depends on the rate of operation @du steam generator and of the main turbine. As an indication of the main turbine load. a measurement of the flow rate of the steam supplied to it is used and, as a measure of the thermal level of the steam generator, the indication given by the pressure of the steam at the outlet of the superheater is used. It was found that the.
pressure in the casing of the turbine is in a linear relationship with the flow. Preferably, the. pressure in the first stage, although the pressure in any other stage of the turbine can be taken.
The pressure acting on Bourdon tube 19 causes a pilot rod to assume a suitable position, so as to establish a pneumatic charge pressure in pipe 513, which pressure represents the vapor pressure in pipe 244.
The same. Bourdon tulle? 5 takes a position suitable for a pilot rod. so as to éta.hlir a pneumatic charge pressure in titi pipe 46. pressure which represents the pressure in the casing of the turbine. These two load pressures act on a differential relay 47, hence a pneumatic load pressure, which is the algebraic sum of the pressures existing in the pipes 513, 46.
acts through a pipe 62 on a diaphragm 515 to charge the spring 519.
If we refer to the. fi-. 3. we see that the pipe 46 ends in a chamber 50 separated by a diaphragm or a movable partition 52 from a chamber 51, which ends in the pipe 513. The diaphragm 52 and the spring 53 which loads it are both united to a rod 54. 'to which is also attached a diaphragm 55. separating the chambers 56, 57. The chamber 56 is open to the air. A compressed air supply can be made by a pipe 58 in the chamber 57 under the control of a valve 59. The exhaust of the chamber 57 into the atmosphere is controlled by a valve 60.
The rod 54 is intended to cause a suitable position for a valve control device 61, so as either to admit compressed air through the valve 59 and thus to increase the pressure in the chamber 57, or to allow air to escape into the atmosphere through valve 60 and thus reduce the pressure in the. chamber 57. The pressure in chamber 57 is transmitted through a pipe 62, so as to act on diaphragm 515.
It will be noted that the variations in the pressure, which acts through the pipe 46 and / or that which acts through the pipe 513 act so as to vary the pressure of the air in the chamber 57 and, consequently, the pressure of the air used to determine the position of the diaphragm 515.
As the pressure in the chamber 50 increases, the rod 54 and the diaphragms 52. 55 descend against the tension of the spring 53, turning the valve control lever 61 counterclockwise and counterclockwise. thus opening the valve 59 to allow the compressed fluid (air) to enter the chamber 57.
The pressure in the chamber 57 increases until it reaches a value such that, acting on the diaphragm 55, it increases the pressure which has increased in the chamber 50 and makes the rod 54 and the diaphragms 52 rise. , 55 by returning them to the determined position where the valves 59. 60 are both closed.
The new pressure that has established itself in the. chamber 57. acting through the pipe 62. lowers the diaphragm 515 against the spring 512 and consequently increases the load on the metal bellows 508. The reverse action occurs when A decrease in the pressure in the chamber 50 or an increase in the pressure in the chamber 51 have. both have the effect of rotating the valve control lever 61 clockwise, to lower the pressure in the chamber 57 and consequently to reduce the load on the spring 512.
With regard to the load of the spring 512 of the regulator, the action of the pressure in the casing of the turbine is preferably allowed to predominate. This can be achieved by shaping the pilot 44 '(Fig. 7), the position of which is determined by the pressure of the outgoing steam stream, in a suitable shape, so that its slope is.
longer and less strong and that consequently the amplitude of its movement must be greater in order to vary the air pressure by one kilogram and consequently that the variation of the pneumatic charge pressure is less for a given variation of the steam pressure, than in the case of the pilot 44 "(fig. 8) whose position is determined by the pressure in the casing of the turbine, and whose inclination is relatively greater and which, therefore, further vary the air charge pressure for a given change in the pressure in the turbine casing.
We could achieve the same results by inserting constrictions in one or the other of the pipes 46, 513 to make one more sensitive than the other to movements of equal amplitude of the Bourdon tubes 19, 25 .
The apparatus may be adjusted so that a variation of the load from its minimum value to its maximum value can cause the pneumatic load pressure to undergo a variation sufficient to operate the auxiliary turbine in the entire range of speeds corresponding to the variation of the load, or for the speed of the auxiliary turbine to be subject to the variations that are desired, corresponding to defined variations in the pressure of the output steam stream.
In older steam generator controls, the primary control of the flow rate of the inlet stream of liquid and the combustion elements (in this case the speed of the auxiliary turbine) was done using pressure at the generator output as an indication of the thermal level in the steam generator.
However, given the extreme rapidity of load variations and the small quantity of heat and liquid stored in the steam generator in question, as well as the need to make it work automatically throughout the range. production, it becomes essential to use a device of the type that has the described embodiment of the installation according to the invention.
The differential control between the auxiliary turbine speed (measured by the oil pressure) and the pressure in the turbine shell is advantageous since the roughly exact correction of the auxiliary turbine speed is achieved. as soon as the load changes, without waiting for the pressure in the steam generator to vary.
The sensitivity of the control of the pressure of the steam outlet stream is reduced and the adjustment is made in a more gradual manner and with less general variations in the steam pressure than would be possible. to achieve this by controlling a single element operated by the pressure of the steam outlet stream.
The secondary control of the oil supply to burner 4 is carried out by the proportional device: the oil and air flows. The flow meters 14, 16 are connected to each other, so that when the proportion between the flow rate of the oil supply and the flow rate of the combustion air deviates from the desired value, a pilot 72 takes a suitable position in the vertical direction, so. varying a charge pressure acting through a pipe 63 in a chamber 65 of a regulator relay 41.
If we refer to fig. 4, it will be noted that the regulator relay 41 is similar to a certain extent to the relay 47, but has in addition an adjustable exhaust 67 branch between the chambers 56 ' and 57 '. The @ oha.mbre 66 is or green in the open air through pipe 64.
A charge pressure building up in the chamber 57 'acts through a pipe 68 on the diaphragm valve 13, so as to cause it to assume a suitable position. In this case, the role of the adjustable exhaust bypass 67 is to complete the primary control of the pressure acting on the control device 13, by a secondary control of the same amplitude or of a different amplitude, consisting, for example , in a successive or additional action preventing an exces- sive movement and oscillation and by which the position taken by the valve 13 does not depend directly on the. position taken by pilot 72.
The additional or secondary control of the air arriving to the fireplace through the duct 7 is carried out by making the register 15 placed in the duct 7 take a suitable position. This register, as well as the adjustable valve 3 mounted in the duct. extraction 1, are brought together into a suitable position by a pneumatic charging pressure established by a pilot valve under the control of the needle 30 of the water level apparatus 29.
