Tilting time switch working with a holding liquid, especially for railway signal systems. The invention relates to a toggle switch working with a switching fluid, in particular for railway signal systems, in which, following:
the tipping over from the basic position to the tilted position from a .Sammel tank a switching liquid flows through a line leading to an overflow and the overflowing liquid after -the tilting of the switch back into the basic position .by a return line that delays the return flow, whereby through the overflowing liquid brings about a contact closure, and consists in such a design of the toggle switch that during the overflow of the liquid the in,
the amount of liquid overflowing the unit of time are equal.
The figures of the attached drawing relate to an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely: FIG. 1 shows the operating characteristics of this embodiment of the new toggle switch, FIG. 2 shows a side view of the switch in the basic position and partly a section,
FIG. 3 shows a section through the plane AB in FIG. 2, FIG. 4 the switch in the position which it assumes in the tilted state.
While with the known Ki.pp time switches with delayed action, the duration of this delay is practically independent of the duration of the toggle state,
a certain dependence of the delay time on the duration of the toggle state is brought about in the toggle switch shown. In Fig. 1, the contact closure time t ,, of one of the type Sehalters plotted as a function of the duration t noble tilted state. For tipping times,
which do not reach the value to, no contact is made. In the range from to to t ″, the contact closure time is roughly proportional to the duration of the tipping point, reduced by the amount l ″. In the range beyond t ″, this time is. <RTI
ID = "0002.0008"> approximately constant, i.e. H. regardless of the duration of the tilted state. Sclia.lter can also be built, the working characteristics of which, for example. has a different course; so z. For example, the point f "can be moved further after the coordinate starting point. It is essential that the curve between <I> t" </I> and <I> t "</I> is approximately straight.
The known toggle switches usually have two interconnected Be containers, the Sahaltfluid, mostly mercury, flowing when tilting from one container to the other. After tipping back, the mercury flows back into the first container through a narrowed pipe.
The switch illustrated in FIGS. 2, 3 and - has a collecting container 1, which is shown in the form shown in FIG. The basic position shown takes up most of the mercury.
To the container 1 is. a feed line 2 in the form of a pipe and a return line 7 having a return flow of the switching fluid delaying part is connected. where the pipe 2 leads into an overflow vessel 3. The vessel 3 is from a collecting vessel 4 to give that verbun through the return line 7 to the collecting container 1 again. is.
The upper parts of the containers 1, 3 and 4 are connected to one another by a gas equalization line 5. A flow opening 6 is now provided at a certain height between the overflow vessel 3 and the collecting vessel 4. To the vessel 4, the return line 7 is connected, in which two switching electrodes 8 and 9 are melted, which can be used to control a circuit.
If the switch is now moved from the basic position shown in FIG. 2 into the tilted position shown in FIG. 4, the mercury can flow over the supply line 2 from the container 1 into the vessel 3. The pipe 2 is dimensioned so that there is only a delayed flow of the switching fluid. to the overflow.
If: the time during which the switch is in the toggle position is short, not enough mercury can overflow from your Behäl ter 1 into the container 3. that it can overflow through the opening 6 into the container 4. At the same time, only a very small amount of mercury can flow through the return line 7, so that the electrodes 8 and 9 are not connected to one another.
If the switch is tilted back into the basic position, the mercury runs out of the container 3 via the line 21 back into the container 1 without the contacts 8, 9 being connected to one another.
Only when the tilting time exceeds the value to (FIG. 1) does so much mercury run out of the container 1 into the container 3 that mercury can also overflow into the container 4 through the opening 6. At this moment the return line 7 is filled with mercury and the contacts 8 and 9 are connected to one another.
Depending on the duration in which the scarf ter is in the tilted position, smaller or larger amounts of mercury hurried can overflow into the container 4.
The switch is designed in such a way that during the overflow of the mercury the quantities of mercury overflowing in the time unit are the same.
If, for example, the switch is tilted back into the basic position after the time t, r, the mercury in the container 4 flows back into the collecting container 1 for a certain time, which is due to the flow resistance of the return line 7.
At the end of the flow process, the conductive connection of the electric 8 and 9 is interrupted. If, however, the switch is left in the tilted position for a period exceeding the time tn, the result is that no more mercury can flow over from the container 1 into the containers 3 and 4, so that for all tipping times,
which is greater than the time tn and the amount of mercury which has flowed over the container 4 and which causes the switching process is the same.
Thus, by changing a dimension, the switch can be easily configured so that any desired characteristic can be obtained. A change in the characteristics of the switch can be, for example, by changing the dimensions of the container, the inlet or. the return line and the height of the overflow opening 6 between the containers 3 and 4 he is aimed.
In particular, the cross-section of the return line 7 can be dimensioned so that the mercury flows off with a delay and also so that a small amount of mercury flows through it to connect the switch contacts when the switch is tilted into the tilted position. The arrangement of the switching electrodes 8, 9 can also be such that
that they are reached by the small amount of mercury when the switch is turned to the tilt position, before mercury flows over the overflow. The characteristics of switches of certain dimensions can also be changed by changing the tilt angle by which the switch is tilted or by changing the initial position from which the switch is tilted by a specific tilt angle.
Such switches can now be used, for example, in warning light systems at level crossings. In this case, the switch is tilted electromagnetically by a rail contact arranged at a suitable distance in front of the level crossing and by driving on a second rail contact which is at a certain distance from the first,
like the one in. the basic position. The time during which the switch is in the tilted state depends:
on how much time elapses between the first and the second rail contact being used, d. H. how fast the train travels over the measuring section delimited by the two rail contacts.
The appearance of the red warning light at the crossing is now influenced by this toggle switch. With the known systems it was so that through a contact; who was at a suitable distance from the crossing, the red light was switched on immediately.
Here, the contact had to be arranged far enough in front of the crossing that the warning light came on in good time even with the fastest train. b. 30 seconds before the Zugspitze arrives at the Überweg. If a slowly moving freight train drove over this contact, the warning light was also switched on immediately, but is now much longer until the Zugspitze arrives at the crossing, i.e. maybe two to three minutes.
The tilting time according to the invention can ensure that no matter how fast the train is traveling, the warning light always lasts for about 30 seconds until the Zugspitze arrives at the overhead. Then it continues to shine until it is switched off by the last pull axle. For this purpose, the warning system can be designed as follows, for example, s, a: The warning light (red light) appears when a closed circuit is de-energized.
In this closed circuit. if there is a break contact of the second rail contact and the contact of the toggle switch is connected in parallel to this break contact. When driving over the first rail contact, the toggle timer is tilted into the toggle position, but the mentioned closed circuit is not affected, so that no warning light appears.
When the second rail contact is then used, the tilt-time switch is tilted back into the basic position and the break contact of the rail contact is opened at the same time.
As a result, the mentioned closed circuit is de-energized if the contact of the toggle time switch is not closed despite it being tipped back into the basic position. The closed circuit remains closed until it is interrupted at the contact of the toggle switch. Then the warning light (red light) appears.
Accordingly, the longer the toggle time switch was in the toggle position, the longer the appearance of the warning light is also delayed after driving on the second track zone. The toggle time switch therefore does not switch off, but only switches on the warning light ea .. 30 seconds before the route is reached, regardless of how fast the train is traveling.
If the train is moving fast, the tipping time is shorter. the contact is also shorter and the warning light is switched on. which is brought about by opening the contact occurs earlier than with a long-distance train. The time to is the time it takes the fastest train to travel through the measuring section. There is no delay time, so the Rotlieht appears immediately after driving over the second Seliienenkontalzte.
