Process for the preparation of an acidic triphenylmethane dye. It has been found that acid triphenylmethane dyes with excellent fastness properties and clear nuances are obtained if one goes in 1.
2-position Substituted indoles which contain a p-chloro or p-alkoxybenzoyl radical in the 3-position, condensed with secondary or tertiary aromatic amines including those of the heterocyclic series, then the p-chlorine atoms or. p-alkoxy groups in the condensation products with primary aromatic amines,
which contain an alkoxy group in the p-position to the amino group, with the release of halogen waes erstoff respectively. of the corresponding alcohol and then sulfonated or by first sulfonating the condensation products and then using primary aromatic amines,
which hold an alkoxy group in the p-position, converts. The indoles used as starting materials and substituted in the 1-3 and 3-positions can easily be obtained
if the reaction products of arylides of benzoic acids are reacted with phosphorus oxychloride with 1,2-substituted indoles and these condensation products are treated with dilute acids. The arylide residue is split off with formation of, for example, an indolylphenyl ketone.
The subject of this patent is a process for the preparation of an acidic triphenylmethane dye, which is characterized by "that 1-112ethyl-2-phenyl-ap-methoxybenzoylindole is condensed with benzyl-o-toluidine, the substance thus obtained with p-phenetidine heated,
The methoxy group is replaced by the remainder of the p-phenetidine and the substance thus obtained is treated with a sulfonating agent.
Example: , 34.6 parts by weight of 1-methyl-2-phenyl-3-p-methoxybenzoylindole are mixed with 20 parts by weight of benzyl-o-toluidine in the presence of 30.7 parts by weight of phosphorus oxychloride at 100 to 10, 5'C condensed. A basic, water-insoluble green dye is obtained in this way.
After fusing with p-phenetidine at 120 to 12; 5 C and subsequent sulfation, a dye of the following constitution is obtained:
EMI0002.0009
which in the form of its sodium salt dyes wool and silk in violet tones of excellent lightfastness and clarity, with a very good evening color.
