Drain plug. The object of the invention is a drain plug, for example a sink drain plug.
It comprises, like other known bungs of this type, a siphon comprising three walls, each of annular cross section and arranged one inside the other, the middle wall being removable for cleaning. But it is distinguished by the fact that the outer and inner walls of the si phon form, with a wall which unites them at their lower ends, a bag of annular transverse section in which the dirt contained in the liquid passing through the bung settles. and that said bag is removable so that the dirt thus collected can be easily extracted from the plug without sending them into the pipe.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the plug according to the invention, consisting of a sink drain plug and given by way of example.
Figs. 1 and 2 show respectively an axial vertical section and a horizontal section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
The bung shown comprises a casing a which has, starting from the top: a circular annular flange b, intended to bear on the interior face of the sink, a cylindrical part c passing through it and descending below it, a threaded tubing d to be connected to the pipeline; inside, the casing has a seat e extended downwards by the pipe d.
The siphon bag, the horizontal section of which is annular, consists of an outer cylindrical wall g, the upper part of which comes into contact with the inner face of the cylindrical part of the casing, of an inner cylindrical wall h , of a horizontal annular wall i connecting the two walls g, h at their lower ends, of a cylindrical wall j extending the wall i downwards and having a diameter such that it fits exactly into the tubing d. The bag rests by its wall i on the seat e formed by the upper edge of this tubing d.
The middle wall of the siphon consists of a cylindrical wall k integral with a plate 1 and plunging between the two walls g, h, without reaching the wall < I> i; the plate l rests in a removable manner in a pure indentation m of the casing a, has holes n at its periphery for the passage of the liquid, is provided in its center with a depression o and is provided there with a bar p allowing it to be grasped with the fingers, when it is in place.
A split collar q can slide freely on the cylindrical part c of the casing a and be secured at the desired location by tightening a nut r screwed onto a bolt; this collar is used to compress a sealing ring (not shown) between it and the underside of the sink. It has three equidistant screws tines to be supported on this lower face and to prevent any lifting of the plug.
The operation of the embodiment described is as follows: The liquid in the sink passes through the holes n, arrives in the external annular branch u of the siphon, included between the walls g and k, flows in ta below the wall k 'and goes into the inner annular branch v, between the walls h and k to finally fall over the wall h to the inside of this wall h and from there into the tubing d. The dirt it contains settles in w and remains there.
The heights of part c and of walls h and k are such that there is always in the bung a column of liquid sufficient to cut off all communication between the outside and the pipe and thus prevent bad odors from spreading through this bung.
When the 2o branch of the siphon contains a certain amount of dirt, the plate 1, is removed then the bag ghi j, with the sa lites it contains, it is removed. get rid of them, clean it and put it back in place. This cleaning takes place easily, since this bag is removable, and without the dirt being driven into the drain, unlike what takes place in other known sink bungs, where the bag is fixed, for example because the outer wall g of the siphon is constituted by the part c itself of the envelope.
Once g-la-i-j has been removed, the envelope a and the tubing r1 can be cleaned by means of a jet of liquid.
The different parts of the above execution form are made of metal, copper, or brass for example. The various parts of the g-h-i j bag may have come together from manufacturing or be prepared separately and then assembled.
The heights of shell a, walls h and k may vary. In certain cases, the horizontal sections of the envelope a and of the walls g, k and h may not be circular.
Finally, the external diameter of the plate 1 can be limited to that of the cylindrical part k, so as to form with the latter, which is then pierced with holes in its lower part, a removable sheath independent of the other parts and resting on the wall i. In the cutout m is then also housed a removable grid which retains most of the dirt.
