Process for the production of rayon with properties of animal fibers. It has been found that nitrogen-containing bases, for example primary, secondary, tertiary amines and quaternary ammonium bases of the general formula (RiR2RsR4N) OH, incorporated into the silk spinning mass, give the fibers produced from them a strong affinity for acidic wool dyes.
These compounds react with the dye acids on the fiber, thus binding the dyes to the cellulose fiber and giving the rayon the same dyeing behavior as animal fibers. It is essential for this purpose that the above-mentioned amines and ammonium bases adhere well. For this it is necessary that at least one of the substituents bonded to nitrogen contains an aliphatic chain of more than 7 carbon atoms.
The other substitutes in the secondary, tertiary amines respectively. The quaternary ammonium bases can then be replaced by hydrogen, aromatic radicals or by aliphatic chains with fewer than $ carbon atoms. The nitrogen atom itself can also be a member of a ring system, i.e. it can be in a heterocyclic ring. Instead of the free bases, the salts of the amines and ammonium bases can also be used.
One proceeds in such a way that the amines, respectively. their salts, incorporated into the spinning solution and spun therein by known processes. Since these compounds are then contained in the finished synthetic fiber, the fiber will behave like an animal product. An even better effect can be achieved by adding protein substances to Switzerland at the same time. Patent 180933 and British Patent 438199.
Example: 50 g of stearylamine acetate are dissolved in 150 cm 'water with the addition of 100 cm-' 33% formalin and made alkaline with sodium hydroxide solution while stirring constantly, with a fine Emulsion is created. This emulsion is stirred into "o kg viscose, possibly with the addition of protein substances according to British patent 438199. It is then spun in normal Müller baths.
Instead of the stearylamine acetate, corresponding amounts of isopropyl dodecyl amine lactate, N-dodecyl-1,3-propyleu-diamine formate, dimethyl-stearylamine, methyl-dibutyl-dodecyl-ammonium bromide, stearyl-pyridium can be used - use nium chloride etc. Post-treatment of the fiber with formaldehyde has proven to be expedient.
