cause, u. in such a way that the glossy glaze can be produced to a greater or lesser extent by adding different amounts of such additives, depending on the requirements. Accordingly, the new process for the production of artificial structures from viscose consists in that the viscose nitrogenous
 EMI1.2
have a certain diminished or dull gloss.

The following example is given by way of illustration: 5 "0 casein or albumin, calculated on the cellulose content, are added to viscose produced in the usual way. The viscose is then spun in the usual way. The threads are post-treated according to customary methods In this case, a high gloss does not occur even during drying or after desulphurisation. The product produced in this way can even be colored with sulfur or vat dyes without a high gloss being revealed.

In addition to the substances mentioned in the exemplary embodiment, you can also use other substances with the same effect, such as. B. aniline. Quinoline, pyrrole. Dimethylaniline and diphenylamine.

It is known to add about 5-10% dry cellulose (calculated on dry casein) in the form of copper oxide ammonia cellulose solution or viscose to the casein solutions in the manufacture of synthetic threads from casein, which is intended to make washing out the casein threads much easier. In this case it is a question of protein threads, but not of cellless silk: moreover
 EMI1.3
Processing on synthetic threads are suitable. has been proposed (D. R.

   P. No. 238843), according to which proteins such as fibrin, casein or the like are treated first with alkalis and the alkali albuminates formed with carbon disulfide and then the protein xanthates thus obtained are mixed with cellulose xanthate. Chemical compounds are obtained which, after spinning, result in extremely shiny threads. It has also been proposed in English patent specification No. 255683. a solution of proteins in a caustic alkali solution with cellulose
 EMI1.4
in this case, according to the patent specification, a stable chemical combination of cellulose and protein compounds should be achieved.

In contrast to this, according to the invention, organic nitrogen compounds are incorporated into the viscose in such a way that they act colloid-hemically as "opacifiers". The method according to the invention was therefore not suggested by these proposals.
