Description

process zar production of waterproof and plasterable building boards and building board manufactured according to the process. Processes for the production of waterproof building boards from vegetable fibers (such as wood fibers, fibers from .Stroh or Ba- gasse) and from water-repellent binders (such as resins, bitumen, pitch, paraffin and the like) are already known. In the plates manufactured according to the known method, however, the surface fibers of the plates remain covered by the water-repellent binders, so that such a fiberboard cannot be plastered because of its water-repellent surface.

Furthermore, oil paints, varnishes and the like cannot easily be applied to such a plate, since the binders enveloping the surface fibers migrate into the coating layer and destroy them or give them an unsightly appearance.

The present invention relates to a method for the production of plasterable building boards from vegetable fibers and a water-repellent binding agent, as well as to the building board produced by the method.

For example, the method can be carried out in the following manner. The fibers, which are suspended in a known manner to form an aqueous fiber pulp, are provided with a water-repellent binder (such as resin, bitumen, pitch, paraffin and the like) which can be added in powder form, or in solution, or in the form of emulsion.

Several binders can also be used at the same time. If the type of binder requires precipitation for the purpose of depositing it on the fibers, this can be carried out.

The watery pulp is then partially dewatered on a sieve for the purpose of felting by draining or suction. The molded product, which still contains water, is vigorously rinsed by water jets that hit the surfaces of the same. Depending on the intended use, rinsing can only take place on the upper surface or through the sieve on the lower surface. This rinsing removes the binding agents adhering to the superficial fibers, some of them being washed away and some being led into the interior of the plate.

The further production process takes place in the usual way by further dewatering the molded product by means of dripping, suction, pressing and subsequent drying with heat. During the drying process, compaction can be carried out at the same time by applying pressure. Since only binder-free fibers come into contact with the machine parts during the rest of the production process, sticking of the plates or soiling of the production machines is excluded.

The inside of the finished panels is made water-repellent by the binding agent, while the outer layers, which are free of binding agents, have good absorption capacity for plastering and are also suitable for applying paint.
