Device controlling the passage of a fluid. The object of the invention is a device controlling the passage of a fluid.
It is characterized by the fact that it comprises a tubular part through which the fluid must pass and the walls of which are flexible so that the area of its free section can be varied by the deformation of these walls, a member being arranged so as to be able to be brought to act on the tubular part to produce the deformation thereof at will.
The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, three embodiments of the positive device according to the invention.
Fig. 1. is an axial section of the first embodiment; Figs. ? and 3 are axial and transverse sections taken on line III-III of FIG. \ ?, of the second embodiment; Fig. 4 is an axial section of the third embodiment.
Fig. 1 shows a float control valve of a constant level tank. It comprises a tubing a, connected to the supply pipe (not shown) for the liquid, water for example, and a sleeve b connected by a threaded sleeve c to the tubing a. A pipe d screwed into the man chon b leaves the tap and opens into the tank, which the drawing does not show.
The tubing has a truncated convex surface e at its downstream end and the sleeve b a concave frustoconical surface f at its upstream end. Between these two faces is clamped a frustoconical part g of a tubular part h of annular section. of which a cylindrical part i is housed partly in the downstream end of the sleeve b and partly in the pipe d; the part h is made of a material such as rubber for example, giving it such flexibility that it can be flattened to completely and hermetically close the passage without damaging it and without causing it to undergo permanent deformation. Part h ensures the sealing of the joint between parts a and b.
The desired deformation is obtained by means of a pusher j housed in a transverse opening of the sleeve b. This pusher is rounded at each of its two ends and can be moved by a rod l; the latter is mounted on a pivot at m at one of its ends and carries the float, not shown, to the other.
The operation of the first embodiment is as follows: When the tank is empty or contains little water, the float is at a lower position and the pusher hardly touches or not at all the cylindrical part i of the part h; this has its normal shape, with an annular section and allows the maximum liquid to pass.
The float rises as the liquid arrives, gradually lifts the rod Ira and forces the pusher j to rise. The latter compresses the cylindrical part i of the part h, and the. deforms, which gradually reduces the area of its free section until it is reduced to zero: the arrival of the liquid then ceases completely.
When the float goes down again, the pusher j follows this movement while the cylindrical part i of the gradually resumes its original shape, so that the liquid can pass again.
In the second embodiment (fig. 2), the tubular part n of annular section made for example of rubber, comprises two end parts o and p of truncated conical shape and a middle part q, cylindrical. The part o is clamped between a truncated conical surface r, of a pipe s serving for the soul born of the fluid, of the lighting gas for example, and a frustoconical surface 8 of a block t; the part p is similarly clamped between two frustoconical surfaces u and v of the block t and of a pipe w respectively, the gas leaving both the device through this pipe w.
The t block is connected to the tubes s, w by threaded sleeves x and y. The part n seals the joints between parts s, t and w.
The more or less complete flattening of the tubular part takes place by means of the pous evening j which acts on its middle part q and is placed partly in a transverse housing of the block t and partly in a housing z of a ring 2 rotating on the block t and having an eccentric surface with respect to the axis of the block t so that, depending on the angular position of the ring 2 with respect to the block t, < / I> pusher j leaves part q of part n in its normal shape or flattens it more and more. The ring 2 is moved by means of a lever 3.
The third embodiment (fig. 4) consists of a free-flow valve comprising a metal body 10 in the form of a lying T. Its upper vertical branch 11 has at its free end a frustoconical seat 12 which widens from bottom to top and against which the upper end of the tubular part 18, made of rubber for example, is applied by a bush 14 provided with a bulge 26 engaging in this tubular part.
The sleeve 14 is held in place by a threaded cap 15 screwed onto the branch 11; on the socket 14 is screwed the pipe 16 for supplying the liquid and it cannot rotate relative to the branch 11 thanks to a stop screw 17 with which it is provided and which is housed in a longitudinal slot 18 of 11. The tubular part 13 of annular section is simply threaded into the lower branch 19 of the body 10 without being otherwise held there.
Its flattening with a view to a greater or lesser constriction of the passage of the fluid is obtained by means of a cylindro-spherical plunger 21 moving in the transverse branch 20 of the body 10, this pusher forming a nut being actuated by a screw 22 at a rapid pace; the latter is rotated by a handle 23, but cannot move axially by virtue of a collar 24 gripped between the branch 20 and a cap 25 screwed onto the latter.
The three embodiments described offer various advantages: they do not include metal surfaces sliding over one another in the presence of the fluid; they do not have any sharp edges when they are. more or less restrict the passage of fluid; the control members can be maneuvered in such a way that there is no sudden variation in the area of the section giving passage to the fluid of the device, these two facts reduce the noise that the liquid makes when passing through the device.
The joints formed between the parts a and b, s and t., T and u, whose position does not vary in space and are obtained by parts there or n themselves, which easily makes it possible to make them watertight.
The normal section of the tubular part may have a shape different from that of a circle.
The member; j producing the deformation and the control member, such as 2, may have other arrangements.
