Serrure incrochetable.

Incrochetable lock. The present invention relates to a lock that cannot be hooked, for example for bank vaults, safes and the like, comprising a movable axis intended to pass through the door on which the lock must be mounted, and further comprising stops, the adjustment of the position of these, to bring them to the open position, being effected by axial displacements of the axis in one and the same direction, alternating with rotational movements in each axial position.
The lock forming the subject of the invention is characterized by members for guiding the axis during its movements, these members being arranged such that the opening of the lock is effected by a rotational movement of the latch. 'axis in one direction, then in the other, in each axial position used for the adjustment of the stops, and by at least one key used to limit the rotational movement of the axis in one direction. in each of these positions axial.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, one embodiment of the. lock according to the invention, the mechanism of this lock being distributed in two palustres, tinés: to be placed one on one side of the door and the other on the other side.

As seen in Figs. 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7, the inner palastre of the lock comprises a bottom plate 2, intended to be fixed, by means of screws 5, inside a door 1, and side walls 3 and 4, which include slots for receiving: plates for mant covers 6 and 7. The bottom plate 2 has bosses 8, 9, 10 and 11, one of which, boss 8, is higher than the others . The bottom plate 2 further comprises two pins 13 and 14, and a barrel 12 is fixed in a hole of this plate.
A plate 15 (fig. 8), provided with, two branches 16 and 17 serving as guides is movable in -the notches made in the bosses 8, 9, 10 and 11. The stops 19 of the lock are blurred. toothed wheels comprising teeth 20 rotatably mounted on an axis 18 fixed .in the plate 15, and each provided with a. notch 31 at their periphery.
The lock shown has five stops but, if deemed useful, a smaller or larger number of stops can be used.
So that the stops 19 do not slip off the axis 18, the latter carries a ring 22 which is retained by an elastic ring 23 inserted in a groove of the axis 18. The stops are separated by intermediate washers 2.1, each comprising a projection 25 having a notch 26 in which is engaged a pin 27 fixed to the plate 15. In this way, the intermediate washers 24 are guided so. To be unable to rotate, and prevent rotation. .a stop does not activate the stop or neighboring stops.
On the barrel 12 are provided rings '38 rotatably mounted and having the appearance shown in fig. 4. On a part: of their periphery, these rings have teeth 29 in engagement with the teeth 20 of the stops when the latter teeth are in their normal position, as shown in FIG. 1. Each ring has a boss 30 forming a stop 31, and the part of the periphery of the ring between the boss 30 and the teeth 29 has a smaller radius, which forms: two other stops 32 and 33.
The rings 28 are separated by intermediate washers 34 (fig. 5), each comprising a projection 35 forming a notch 36, into which the pin 13 engages, so that the intermediate washers are protected against movement. rotation, and prevent the rotation of a ring actuates the neighboring ring.
In addition, the barrel 12 is provided with a return or gane 37 for the rings 28 (see Figs. 1, 6 and 10), this member being mounted to rotate, and the rings 28, as well as the intermediate washers 34 , are placed between its two end annular parts 38, 9,2, which each have a projection 39, these projections being joined by a cross member 40. The return member 37 is intended, during: its return movement, d '' hook the stops 32 by means of the cross member 40, and thus bring all the rings 28 and the stops 19 to the zero position, that is to say to the position that they must occupy when the lock is closed.
Outside the return member 37, an elastic prison 41 is inserted into a groove in the barrel 12, so that the parts cannot slip out of the barrel.
In the barrel 12 there is provided an angular arm 42 having the appearance shown in figure 9, this arm being mounted to rotate and slide by means of a central part 43. The part 13 carries an angular arm 46. provided with a projection .l î directed radially inwards.
Part 43 has a central hole forming a threaded hole 45 and, in its extension. a square hole 44 in which the square inner end 49 of the axis 48 of the lock fits, the part 43 being pushed onto this inner end. The end of the shaft is cut diagonally by a groove 53 and is perforated and tapped for a conical screw 50, the outer end of which is also threaded. A nut 51 is threaded to engage with hole 45, but its central hole does not engage with the threads of conical screw 50.
A nut 52 is screwed onto this screw, the diameter of which is smaller than that of the hole 45. The holes 54 shown in the nuts are intended to allow them to be turned by means of an appropriate key. When the angu lar arm 42 is placed in its correct axial position, it is rotated. conical screw 50, so that its conical part expands the square part 49, thus preventing any play of the angular arm 42 on the central axis. The nut 51 is then put in place, then the nut 52, so that the angular arm cannot slide on the axis.
In the lock shown, the arm, an bular 42 is intended to take six axial positions, and in five of these positions the projection 47 is in front of any one of the stops 33, so that, during the rotation, the meeting of one -of these will rotate one of the rings 28 as well as the corresponding stop 19. In its innermost axial position, the projection 47 is disengaged from the stops 33 while being in the path of the return member 37, so that the latter is entrained in the return movement.
A bolt 55 is movably mounted in a hole or opening formed in the side wall 4 and, in FIG. 1, it is directed towards the left in the lock, thus forming the shaft of the bolt 56. The bolt 55 has an angular groove 57, 58 and a notch 59 in which the arm 46 can engage in a certain position, for the displacement of the bolt.
A hat 61, fixed on the boss 8 by means of screws 60, has a slot 62 serving to guide the shaft 56 of the lock. A lever arm 75, mounted oscillating on the bos sage 9 around an axis 74, is arranged above the stops 19 and carries a pin 79 which engages in the angular groove 57, 58 and a cross member 78 which goes over all the stops 19. A washer 76 and a cotter pin 77 bind the lever arm 75 to the pin 74.
If, with the lock closed, the bolt is pressed inwards, the spindle 79 presses the cross member 78 on the teeth 20, -so that any movement of the bolt inward is made impossible, but if the notches 21 of all the stops are located below the cross member 78, the latter tilts and engages in the notches, thus allowing free internal displacement of the bolt.
A pawl 64, rotatably mounted on the bos sage 8 by means of a screw 63, is pressed by a spring 65 against a pin 66 fixed to the cap 61. When the arm 46 is turned against the pawl 64 (to the left in Fig. 1), the latter is moved laterally, but it returns to its normal position retaining the arm 46 in a notch 90 when this arm is brought to the position indicated in fig. 1, the axis 48 thus being blocked in its internal axial position and locked against any rotational movement. A shaft 67 is rotatably mounted in the base plate 2 and in the cap 61 by means of journals 69, 70.
The journal 70 passes through the cap and a lever 72 is carefully fixed at the free end by means of a pin 71. The shaft 67 is provided with an eccentric which 68 fits in a slot 73 in the plate 15. When the lever 72 is rotated, the eccentric imparts a vertical movement to the plate 15, so that the teeth 20 of the stops 19 are disengaged from the teeth 29 of the rings 28..
An angled arm 81 is fixed to the cover plate 7 by means of a rivet 80, the movements of this arm being limited by two pins 82, 91 fixed to the same cover plate. A pin 88 is also attached to the closure plate 83 of the palastro, and this plate is provided with two T bosses 84 and 85 which engage in the housings 86 and 87 of the walls. sides 3 and 4 respectively. When the lock is closed, a pin 89 fixed to the bolt 55 and the pin 88 prevent any lateral displacement of the closing plate 83, at the same time as the bosses 84 and 85 prevent: removing this plate.
When the lock is opened, the pin 89 does not prevent movement of the closure plate 83 and the bosses 84 and 85 can be removed from the housings 86 and 87 by this movement, so that the closure plate 83 can be removed.
According to fig. 11 to 14, the exterior palastre comprises a plate 100 fixed by means of screws 101 on the exterior face of the door 1, and a cap 102 fixed to the plate by means of screws 103. The axis 48 of the lock is mounted so as to rotate and slide in a hole made in the plate 100. Its outer end -is in the form of a square head 104 and it is provided with a conical screw 105, similarly at its inner end 49 housed in the inner palastre .
A disc 107 and an eccentric 108, mounted on the end 104 of the axis, are separated by a ring 109; these parts have square openings corresponding to the end of the axis, and are retained in their position by a nut 106. The disc 107 has two notches 110 and 111 and a projection 112. L The notch 111 is of a greater width, preferably double, than that of the notch 110. The plate 100 has a groove 113 on the bottom of which abuts the key -of the lock, and a groove 114, in which a closing slide 15 can move.
The latter carries a rod 116 mounted radially with respect to the axis and .directed towards the key, the free end of this rod being made in the form of a tooth 117, and with an arm 118 directed upwards .et arranged on the other side of the axis. The rear part of the closing slide 115, with respect to the rod 116, is curved in the form of an arm 120, so that a leaf spring 122, fixed to the cap 102 by means of a rivet 121, can rest on this arm and keep the closing slide 115 pressed on a pin 119 fixed to the disk 107.
A plate 124 is fixed by means of a screw 123 to the plate 100 and retains the closing bucket slider 115 in the groove 114.
A shaft 126, provided with an operating knob 128 placed outside the front face of the cap 102, forms an extension of the pin 48 and passes through a hole in the cap 102. At its inner end, this shaft carries a flange 125 and it is pierced with a central hole for the nut 106 of the conical screw 105; furthermore, it is hand held on the eccentric 108 by means of screws 12r.
The rotation button 128 is held on the shaft 126 by means of a pin 130 which passes through the inner part 129 of the maneuvering button and engages in a hole made in the outer end of the shaft. The axis and all the parts it carries are thus obliged to follow all the movements of the operating button.
Inside the cap is provided a key housing 131 having the appearance shown in FIG. @ 15 and comprising wings in which openings 132 are provided for screws 133 serving to hold the key housing on the plate 100. The key housing is drilled, for the key, with a hole 134 which forms the slot 136 open on the axis side, and a hole 137 for a pin 138 directed substantially towards the central axis and lying in front of the peripheral part of the disc 107.
In addition, the key housing has a hole 139 in which is disposed a block 140 bevelled and engaging in the key hole 13.1. A spring. â blade 142 is fixed to the key housing 131 by means of a screw 141; the pin 138 as well as the block 140 are fixed to this spring, so that these parts are kept pressed towards the axis 48.
Pin 138 prevents axial movement of pin 48 outward, but when the key is inserted into its 1.34 hole block 140 is moved rearward, pin 138 having also been moved backward. rear is moved away from the path of the disc 107, so that the axle 48 can be freely pulled out.
A plate 144 and a block 143 are attached: to the. plate 100 by means of a 1-t5 screw and, in addition to the block 143, there is a 1.16 block, the plate then covering the two blocks. The block 146 is movably mounted on a pin 147 fixed to the plate 100 and it is kept pressed on the plate 14.1 by means of a spring 1-18 mounted in a hole 149. The block 11-3 has a. height such that it can be amro, ché by the notch 110 of the disc 107, and the two blocks together by the notch 111 of the same disc.
The two blocks have notches 150 and 151 directed radially towards the axis, these coehes being limited by teeth 152 and 153. The extreme outer teeth of the blocks 143, 146 form, with the plate 1..14, slots 15.1 and 155 respectively. The extreme inner tooth .du block 143 forms with the plate 100 a notch 156. The block 146 e4 bevelled on its outer face, as indicated. the fib. 12, 13 and 21, the bevelled part 157 constituting an extension of the notch 155.
L, ## s notches 150, 151, 1.5-f and 155 have preferably the same width as teeth 152, 153, and the width of notch 156 -and the same as that of a notch 151 aubmen- ted with the thickness of a tooth 153, the total dimension corresponding to the thickness of a ring 28 plus that of an intermediate washer 34 (fib. 6), the block 146 being also: similarly shorter than block 143.
Consequently, when the block 1.46 is moved so as to abut against the plate 100: displacement which will be called "an axial pitch". this corresponds to a displacement of a ring 28 at la. ba; ue 28 voi sine.
The notches 150, 151 and 155 have a depth such that the periphery of the disc 107 can pass therein, but the same is not true for the projection 112, while the notches 154, 156 have a depth such that the projection 112 can also pass through it during the movement, of rotation of the disc. When the projection 112 is turned towards the bevelled part 157, it can pass, all the more so as the block 146 is pushed back: sideways by over-mounting the action of the spring 148, while during the rotation in the direction. opposite she cannot go past the block.
A stop disc 158 (fig. 16), mounted between the disc 107 and the eccentric 108, stirs the ring 109 by a radial notch 160 and carries a rod 159 which extends in the extension of the notch 160 and engages in the key hole 136, its length being such that it can: be moved inwardly against the key. The stopper disk 158 being guided by the ring 109 and the slot 136 of the keyhole, it performs a linear movement when it is moved.
The eccentric 108 is surrounded by an eccentric frame 162 (fib. 17), comprising for the eccentric an opening 163 directed downwards, so that the rotational movement of the eccentric downwards is not not impeded by the frame, which is moved sideways in a direction which brings it closer or the- map of the -key, when the eccentric 108 has dyed the edge 164 or the edge 165 ! of its frame.
In apertures 166, made in the frame of the eccentric, engage pins 161. which are fixed to the stop disk 158, so that the frame of the eccentric is also guided in a straight line. and causes the stop saying 158 in its-movement.
The key in the lock is shown in fig. 18 and 19. This key is formed by an intermediate part 167 .com carrying, -on each side,-cover plates .172 fixed by means of rivets 173. or components analogues. This intermediate part comprises a certain number: d.e stops 169 corresponding to the number of stops 19 of the lock. The width of each stop is equal to an axial pitch.
These are the stops 169 which, by means of the rod 159 -displaced towards them during the rotary movement of the axis, limit the radial movements of the frame 162 of the eccentric, the rotational movement of the axis 48. in different axial positions thus being limited. In addition, the intermediate part 167 comprises a notch 170 -deep such that the movement of, displacement of the rod 159 is not stopped when this rod is in front of this notch. There is also a notch 171 in which the tooth 117. can engage.
The key shown in fig. 22 to 27 - is an adjustable combination wrench. This key is constituted by a sleeve 175 comprising movable crenellated blades 179 (Fig. 26), these blades being separated by intermediate plates 183 (Fig. 25). A plate 185, made in the shape of a key ring 186 -and comprising a core 187 engaging in: notches 180 and 184 made in the blades 179 and the intermediate plates 183,,: is fixed to the sleeve 175 by means of a rivet 192.
In its rear part, the sleeve has a longitudinal opening 176 in which the appendages 181 of the blades engage. Each blade is cut in grains, so as to form a certain number of numbered notches 182, preferably so that the straight edges of the blades, edges which are directed towards the opening, bear numbers corresponding to the blades. A housing 178 -is provided in the lower part of the sleeve, so as not to prevent the movement of the rod 159 in its extreme internal position.
In this embodiment, the key is inserted from top to bottom, whereby the key hole 190 is disposed vertically in the key housing 188 which, in order to save space for the appendages 181, has a recess 189, and which is fixed to the plate 100 by means of screws 191. The appendages 181 allow the blades to be brought to different positions for a certain number chosen, which can be read on the lower edge 177 of opening 17-6.
The adjustment being thus carried out, the notches 182 in front of the rod 159 constitute a row of horizontal stops corresponding to the stops -de la. simple key described above. The operation of the lock shown is as follows: As can be seen from the foregoing, the maneuver knob 128 can neither be turned nor withdrawn when the lock is in its closed position as shown fig. 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 11 and 13.
If the key is introduced into its hole 134, the pin 138 is pushed back so as to release the axis. The maneuvering button 128 is then pulled straight out, the movement being stopped when the guide disc 107 meets the plate 144. The rod 159 is then located opposite one of the stops 169 </ B> of the key, the outer stop, and the projection 47 is in front of the outer ring 28. The arm 46 has slipped out of the notch 90, so that the rotational movements of the axis stop being caught.
The pin 119 has been moved away from the closing slide 115, and the latter has been moved towards the key by the spring 122, the tooth 117 then being engobed in the notch 171 of the key, so that the key cannot be removed.
If we now turn the maneuver knob to the right, clockwise, looking from the outside of the door, the rod 159 -is-moved by means of of the eccentric 108, so as to meet the external stop 169 .de the key. The outer stop turns, therefore, by a corresponding degree by means of the. projection 4 7 driving the ring 28 corresponding to the stop, outside. If the key used is the desired key, the notch 21 of the stop 19 in question will be located exactly below the cross member 78.
During the movement: of rotation, the peripheral part of the disc 107 engages in the notch 154 and guides the axis 48 against an axial displacement. During the rotational movement, the return member 37 is also driven by the ring 28.
The rotational movement a. then proceed in the opposite direction, until the projection 112 meets the block 146. The active parts, seen from outside the door, then open there. position shown in fig. 20, the arm 46 not extending as far as the traverse 40 of the return member, which prevents disturbing the set position of the first ring 28. The portion of the periphery of said 107 that is located between the notch 110 and the. projection 112 is at the same time in the groove 1.55 of the block 146 to. .axial displacement.
The operating button 128 is then pressed inwards and it then drives the block 146 by means of the disc 107, until this block forms a stop against the plate 100, it that is to say after an axial step, the disc 107 being then brought in front of the first notch 150 of the block 143, while the projection 47 is brought in front of the next ring 28. The rotation is then carried out at right and the last ring 2.8 above is hooked by the projection 47, the notch 21 of the corresponding stop being brought under the cross member 78 when the movement is stopped by the next stop 169 of the key.
When the notch 110 is brought, during this rotational movement, in front of the block 146, the latter is brought back by the spring 148 against the plate 144 on which it abuts, while the disc 107 remains in its position. axial position, guided by the notch 150 of the block 143. After the stop adjustment, the disc 107 is turned over, as before, until the projection 112 meets the block 146, after which the operating button and the shaft are pushed inwards again with an axial pitch.
The rotational movements and the axial displacements are then continued in the same way, until after the fifth clockwise rotational movement, the notches 21 of all the stops are located under the cross member 78.
After the fifth axial pitch, the disc 107 will be in the notch 156, so that the sixth movement of rotation to the right is no longer prevented by a stop 169 of the key, the arm 46 continuing its movement until 'so that it abuts in the notch 59 of the bolt 55, so as to press the latter inwards, the cross member 78 can now tilt and enter the notches 21 of the stops and the movement of the bolt towards the inside is not prevented, but the bolt is brought to the open position when the rotational movement is continued.
If the lock is to be closed, a rotational movement is carried out in the opposite direction from the opening position, mentioned above and which was established by the last rotational movement in the direction of the movement of the hands of a watch. The arm 46 then moves the bolt outwards and brings it to the closed position, the cross member 78 then being lifted and extracted from the notches 21 of the stops. The projection 47 hooks the cross member 40 of the .de rap pel member, this cross member bringing all the rings 28 to their original position, the latter then dragging the stops 19.
The arm 46 moves the pawl 64 away until it engages in the notch 90 of this pawl. In the last part of the rotational movement, the spindle 119 has moved the closing slide 115 towards the spring 122 so that the tooth 117 has been released from the notch 171 of the key, this last can then be withdrawn. The lock is then closed again and all the parts occupy their initial positions. The adjustment of the same lock for another key takes place as follows.
On opening the lock, the side closing plate 83 is removed as described above. and the arm 81 is rotated against the posterior spindle 91. -Then the operating knob 128 is turned until the arm 46 abuts against the curved part of the arm $ 1, part which is now on the path of arm 46. At this point, crossmember 78 has been pulled out of notches 21, but stops 19 have not been turned because movement of arm 46 has ceased before this arm has reached crossmember. 40 of the recall body.
The lever 72 is then turned a half-turn, the frame 15 which carries the stops then being lifted so that the: teeth 20 of the stops are released from the teeth 29 of the rings 28. The arm 81 is then returned to its position. previous position and the operating button 128 is brought to the closed position, the rings 28 therefore also being rotated to the closed position, without changing the angular position of the stops 19. The element is now pulled back and we replace it with the new key.
The procedure is the same as for the opening. The rings 28 are then rotated, their angles of rotation being determined by the stops of the new key. After the adjustment, the lever 72 is brought back, -so that the stops come into contact with the shelves again, after which the lateral closing plate 83 is put back in place. the operating button 128 to bring it to the closed position, each ring 28 rotating a stop of a certain angle.
So that we can now open the lock, each stop must be moved backwards, by a rotational movement, at an exactly the same angle; these angles are determined by the stops of the new key for which the lock is now set.
We can have other forms: execution of the lock, different from the lock shown by -variants: details. For example, the axial movements of the axis could be made outward instead of inward. The rings 28 could themselves serve -d'stops if notches corresponding to the notches 21 were made in these rings or in any removable cl-es parts carried by these rings. The stops could also be made in the form of: racks or rings mounted eccentric with respect to the axis.
The stopping of the axis. In each axial position and its guidance in these positions could be carried out by means of organs constructed otherwise than those which are described above; there could be, for example, a particular member for each axial position. The guide slots could be made in the axis and the disc 107 could be fixed to the palastre. The lock bolt could be moved by any member other than the angular arm 46. The eccentric 108, the disc 107 and the ring 109 could be part of the axle. central.
The movements of the disc 107 do not need to be limited by the block 146, but the projection 112 could abut against another part fixed to the palastre. The lifting of the stops does not need to be carried out by means of an eccentric and it could be done in any other suitable way. The key could be replaced by a number of different keys when several people are jointly responsible for opening the lock.
On the other hand, the key could have, for example, the shape of an ordinary key guided by a chuck and, if desired, it could be arranged: so as to form only one part - of a full turn after being introduced into her hole. The abutment surfaces of the key or of the keys could be a straight or curved edge. The guide members could also be mounted in the inner palastre.
The mechanism contained in the outer palastre could be mounted in a housing arranged on the exterior face of the door, so that only the operating button passes the exterior surface of the door, or it could be housed in the door. intermediate space between the surface of the door and a cover plate through which the operating button would pass. The operating button could be connected to the axis by an elastic member, spring or the like.
The lock shown and described advantageously replaces the known combination locks, because it eliminates the need to remember the "-combination for which the lock was set.
