Description

Process for the preparation of an azo dye. It has been found that valuable yellow cotton dyes are obtained if the diazo compounds of, sulfonic acids of aminothiazoles, such as dehydrothiotoluidine, dehydrothiogylidine, primulin, etc., their substitution products and derivatives,

.Couples with acyl acetic acid amides in which one hydrogen atom of the amide group has been replaced by the benzothiazole radical or a substituted benzothiazole radical.

The dyes obtainable in this way have, in addition to good color clarity and good lightfastness, compared to the known dyes from dehydrothiotoluidinsulfonic acids and acetoacetic acid arylides, the great technical advantage that they can be etched in a neutral, pure white and are also avivier.

The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of an azo dye. It consists in getting diazotized dehydrothiotoluidinedisulfonic acid of the formula
EMI0001.0033
    with 2 '- (acetoaceticcarboyl) -amino-6'-methoxy-benzothiazole couples.

Example: 44.4 parts by weight of sodium dehydrothiotoluidine disulphonic acid of the formula given above are diazotized as usual with 6.9 parts by weight of sodium nitrite in the presence of 35 parts by weight of crude hydrochloric acid. This diazo solution is then allowed to run into an aqueous suspension of 2.6.4 parts by weight of 2 '- (acetoacetic carboyl) admixed with 20 parts by weight of crystallized sodium acetate

      - amino - 6 '- methogybenzothiazole. Once the coupling has ended, the dye is filtered off and worked up using known methods. Fr dyes cotton a greenish yellow, which shows good lightfastness and finish and can be etched in a neutral, pure white.
