La fig. 1 est une coupe axiale longitudi nale ile ladite forme .d'exécution, par l'aju- tage. de débit du combustible lourd en pleine marche; La fig. 2 est une coupe par l'ajutage de débit de compensation aux allures réduites de pleine charge; La fig. d est une coupe horizontale; La fig. 4 est une coupe transversale mon trant les divers ajutages de débits conjugués; La fi--. 5 montre une variante avec débit intermédiaire;
La fi(V. 5 se rapporte à une variante clans laquelle le débit du combustible à l'extrême ralenti est assuré comme précédemment par un gicleur Gr et un canal 6,,, mais lorsque le papillon 39 s'ouvre davantage, il découvre un orifice de reprise 40;
Apparatus for the mixed supply of an explosion engine with light fuel and heavy fuel. When we want to feed an explosion engine partly with a heavy fuel, such as petroleum, gas oil, fuel oil, and partly <with a light fuel, we see that it is advantageous to feed the engine at the start and at extreme idle speed with light fuel as little condensable as possible, but the more the power developed by the engine increases, and as a result its temperature rises, the more fuel can be supplied to the engine.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for the mixed supply of an explosions engine with light fuel and heavy fuel. It is characterized in that it comprises a device which automatically and progressively substitutes for the light fuel which almost completely supplies the engine at extreme idle speed, the heavy fuel supplied by a separate feeder, in an all the greater proportion. as the engine develops more power and the intake manifold itself gets hotter and hotter,
the progressive substitution, as the main air, of cold air by hot air, taking place in parallel with the acceleration, in combination, in the. desired proportion, with an admission of hot air in a foam concentrate.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, one embodiment of the apparatus, object of the invention, as well as varying details.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal axial section through said execution form, through the fitting. heavy fuel flow in full operation; Fig. 2 is a section through the full load reduced rate compensation flow nozzle; Fig. d is a horizontal section; Fig. 4 is a cross section showing the various nozzles of combined flow rates; The fi--. 5 shows a variant with intermediate flow;
Figs. 6 and 7 relate to another variant of FIG. 5; Fig. 8 relates to another variant; Figs. 9 and 10 represent two variants of a starting device.
The first embodiment comprises (fig. 3). two tanks; at constant level, one (1e) the light fuel, the other (<B> Q </B> the heavy fuel.
The light fuel gains, through channel 2, an idle jet Gr (fig. 4). The negative pressure produced in a throttle zone of the butterfly drives the fuel, the flow of which is regulated by this nozzle Gr, at the same time as an air intake through orifices 3 and 4 (fig. 4) causes an emulsion which gains, through orifices 5 and .channels 6 and <B> 61, </B> the throttle zone.
Through a channel 7, the light fuel goes to a nozzle G ,, which .dbit itself, through a channel 8a, with or without the interposition of an adjustable calibrated orifice G; L, in a channel 8 and from there in a hot chamber - of an emulsifier arranged between a hot central tube 9 and a vacuum tube 10.
The reheating of this chamber is obtained by suction from the engine through the central tube 9, a pipe 11 and a known device attached to the engine exhaust manifold for example.
The light fuel delivered by the nozzle G is emulsified by the air coming from the atmosphere through orifices 12, through the interior of outer tubes 13 of the foam concentrate, of a tube & g & rde 14, .a base orifice 17 and a channel 18.
This first emulsion still emulsifies a jet of heavy fuel coming from a nozzle Gp and the final emulsion strikes the hot tube 9; the atomization is continued by the air coming from side orifices 19 formed in the -depression tube 10 and by the hot air leaving the upper part of the central tube 9 inside the foam concentrate itself. The atomized mixed fluid exits through orifices 20 inside a nozzle 21 which regulates the flow of hot air coming from a main intake 22.
A ring carrier <B> 23 </B> being free of ori fices and constituting a sealed diaphragm, the motor admits through the nozzle 24 only hot air which provides the mixture with the necessary temperature. the normal use of heavy fuel at these speeds.
As soon as the engine accelerates sufficiently. my catfish, balls 25 rise and the cold outside air entering through external orifices 26, completes the supply of the engine. whose fuel mixture is thus all the more cooled as the engine runs faster or gives more -power.
This arrangement makes it possible to increase the compression of the engine or to use fuels having a tendency to deto nation.
The power developed by the motor is thereby increased and it thus operates under full load at a lower temperature.
The double combination of the injection of hot air through the central tube 9 and the supply of hot air to the nozzle, as well as the addition of cold air at accelerated speeds provide the engine with a works perfectly in all respects with very heavy fuels.
If care has been taken to adjust the respective levels in the two tanks to heights substantially and inversely proportional to the fuel densities (fig. 2), there is practically no dilution of the fuels. 'one into the other.
In order to be able to use very heavy -combus tibles for normal operation and to make automatic the switch from light fuel to heavy fuel used exclusively when the engine is hot, the device shown in fig. 4.
The nozzle Gp is cold sealed by a pointeari 27; the nozzle G, on the other hand, is green when cold due to the fact that a needle 28 which can block it is opened by a spring 29. These two needles are -controlled by a thermostat 30 mounted on the hottest part of the tubing intake 31 re heated by the exhaust 3 \ ?.
As soon as the temperature of the engine, and consequently of the intake manifold are sufficiently high, the thermostat closes, by means of a lever 33, 34, the nozzle G, delivering the light fuel and Or vre the nozzle G ,, delivering the heavy fuel.
It is advantageously possible to close an air cone 35 (fi--. ') At the start and then open it as the motor heats up, by hand or automatically by i: hermostat. 'We can also use the thermostat to open and correct the. content of the mixture by means of a needle 36 controlling an appropriate inflow of air 37, 38 as indicated. 8.
The fi (V. 5 relates to a variant in which the fuel flow at extreme idle speed is ensured as before by a nozzle Gr and a channel 6 ,,, but when the throttle 39 opens more, it discovers a return orifice 40;
the negative pressure is transmitted through a channel 41 and orifices 42 to a nozzle Ga supplied either with light fuel or with heavy fuel, or directly from the tank at constant level, or by the intermediary of the nozzle. full operation or limited bypass flow.
As the throttle continues to open, the pressure drop is transmitted to the main foam concentrate which operates as indicated above.
this time supplied by the GI nozzle ,.
This avoids the insufficient vacuum period on the main foam concentrate which does not come into play until the engine has accelerated its speed further, which is all the more useful the heavier the fuel.
It is advantageous, in certain cases, to vary the position of the orifice 40 relative to the closed position of the butterfly valve. To this end, in the variant of FIGS. 6 and 7, the channel ends with an orientable disc 43 in which the orifice 40 is formed and which has an operating slot for a screwdriver.
By rotating this pellet in its housing, by hand or automatically, this orifice 40 is approached or moved away from the closed position of the butterfly valve at will, or its size is easily varied. A screw 44 makes it possible, if necessary, to immobilize the pitch.
Fig. 9 shows a device intended to facilitate starting as a result of the arrangement, below the orifices 45 through which the idling emulsion air enters, of a complementary orifice 46 flooded at the start because it is placed below the level in a free ring which allows a re-entry of air coming from 47 and following a depletion as soon as the engine has been started.
Fig. 10 indicates a form of additional start-up valve which makes it possible to open an orifice 48 resulting in momentary enrichment at the start. By adjusting the opening position of the orifice 48 and of an air intake 49 by the rotation of a needle 50 in its drive 51, the quantity and quality of the additional mixture are adjusted at the start. .
In a special embodiment of the apparatus, the device for adjusting the outlet of the intermediate flow rate can advantageously be controlled by a thermostat acting on the screw 43 for example. In some eaM, the lower lateral ori fices 19 of the pressure tube 10 of the foam concentrate shown in FIG. 1 and, for example, only the upper side openings bringing the fuel housed in the upper chamber of the emulator will be kept.
This will avoid any contact of the light fuel coming through the orifice 17, the channel 18 and the nozzle G, with the hot central tube; : in this way, the heavy fuel will be brought alone through the channel 8 of the nozzle Gi, to the annular space between the hot tube 9 and the vacuum tube 10 which will only have side holes than above the liquid level in the foam concentrate.
The nozzle Gr could be supplied only with gasoline by removing the pipe i, and the nozzle G, be supplied with heavy oorubiisti- ble like <B> the </B> nozzle G_ ,.
